  1. I saw some footage online, quite the nasty event! I remember goin through a few tornado scares in TN, even watched one in Nashville, but man, you guys had some scary weather. Glad you and yours are well down there.
  2. Nashville was great for that time of my life, but it's definitely exploded since then. Good luck on the install!
  3. The factory cable has a large rubber grommet on it at the body. Mine busted at the pedal so I just unscrewed the clamps (near foot well and under seat) and removed it out back from under the truck. Inserted new one in the reverse. I cut the grommet off the old line, put it on the new line and ran it into the cab from underneath, but just a few feet so I could find it under the carpet and route it correctly to the pedal. Good luck! PS. I lived in Millington for a year at the end of High School and I really enjoyed Memphis. Cool town, just didn't live there long before heading off to college in Nashville.
  4. I've not seen a write-up on doing this mod without replacing the radiator. Did you have a reference you followed? I'm sure I could probably google it, but since you just did it... LOL. Anyways, great stuff in here, keep up the good work, MJ's looking pretty awesome!
  5. Picked up an exhaust gasket on Friday and got her into the garage on Saturday to fix the exhaust leak. Turns out I must have forgot to really tighten the bolts when I installed the AX15 and they were barely tight. Regardless I threw in the new FelPro gasket and cranked them down. Got her back to the shop this AM and she’s now VA legal. This summer I’m going to have the windshield replaced. That crack was on the truck when I got it and a local guy quoted me $90 to put in a new one so that’s with it in my book. And so begins phase two of her life. I’m planning to give her a deep cleaning on the outside now that the interior, driveline and suspension are done. I’ll document the before and after as I’m hoping it’ll be epic. I know the paint isn’t great but I think she’ll shine up pretty well until i can afford to get a good repainting done.
  6. Well Belle failed the state inspection. Turns out I have an exhaust leak before the cat. I'll have to button that up before anything else, but everything else passed. I'm surprised I missed it but frankly I didn't put much into the exhaust as after 25 years the state doesn't require an emissions test. Regardless though the state inspection requires that your exhaust system at least conform to OE, which means no leaks where there shouldn't be. Should be an easy enough fix, it just means I'll have to wait in line AGAIN to get it inspected and burn another hour of my time doing so. Gotta love living in Northern VA where everywhere is crowded.
  7. Well now that she’s home it’s time for state inspection so I can start driving the old girl, Belle, back and forth to work. I also need to pickup a small shed this weekend so she has to be legal. Everything’s in order and the last thing I wanted to do before inspection was upgrade the wiring harness for the headlights. I got a harness for Christmas and figured now is as good a time as any. I wanted to run it cleanly so I pulled apart the front clip and ran it tightly. It also gave me a chance to address a bad splice that made my right turn signal unreliable in the front. The headlights are all squared up now (get it... square... never mind) and everything is cleanly wired. I decided to put the relays on the fender wall since I still have some wiring to clean up near the relay area but it works. So tomorrow I get to find out if the state approves of Belle. My only concern is the wheel adapters. They’re perfectly legal but I’ve heard of some inspectors giving folks crap about them. So we’ll see. Wish me luck!
  8. Talk to @krustyballer16 I just arranged for a set from him. He had a few sets so I'm sure he could help you out.
  9. I'm not in any hurry so I'm fine dealing with either of you gents. @krustyballer16 replied first so I'll give him dibs on a trade or pass to @saveevryjp1998. I'd be happy to do an even trade on these as I'm sure someone could use them more than I could. Here's a shot of the actual set I have, the top one is in a bit better condition, but with a good paint marker they should both clean up well. The back sides have a lot of glue left on them, but with diligence could be cleaned up too. They're metal vice the newer ones which are plastic.
  10. I'm a fan of the 8.8 swap, but it's a bit of a job... As for a smoother ride I can't make any hugely insightful recommendations, but have you considered adding an airbag setup for when you have the camper loaded? Just a thought and love the setup, definitely following this thread.
  11. Yes please!! I'll PM you.
  12. Did the same thing... scrapped a perfectly good setup from a manual '95 and kick myself for it. I've got fat feet too so yeah, clearances are a bit tight but manageable.
  13. This is what the fender emblems I have look like (but without the X):

  15. I second looking for an XJ with an AX-15. I picked up an XJ with one for $300. It had been sitting for years, but for the price I was able to pull the tranny, which turned out to be fine, and part out the rest to recoup my cost. Junkyard shopping is always a good option too. I wouldn't expect to pay a grand for one unless it was rebuilt and certified. Try and find an AX15e which has the external slave cylinder.
  16. I'm looking for a set of "Comanche" emblems that are year correct for my '89. I have a set that are the '86 style, but they are not right. I'd be willing to trade these if you have a set, or purchase yours if you have a set. Thanks! ps. I've been checking ebay so if I find a set there I'll update back here.

    An actual crew cab

NY Plates on the crewmanche... interesting it looks like he used two MJ cabs..
  18. Oh, i know it... I just saw about 15 movies scenes play out in my head when I read your post... I'm gonna be installing a hidden kill switch, hopefully this weekend on my MJ now that it's parked outside.
  19. Good advice, hope thieves in my neighborhood don't see this LOL.
  20. Always on my shortlist of things to check along with the vacuum lines to the map.... :-)
  21. Weird, I had no idea they were so rare... I've seen them on CL and Facebook locally sometimes for as little as $10... One listing had 4, a silver, woodgrain and two blacks with chrome. $10 each or $30 for the lot...
  22. Random question, but when you re-installed the airbox did you by chance bump the connectors on the ballast resistor? If that doesn't get a good connection it'll exhibit symptoms like cranking but not firing... Just a thought.
  23. I don't think it shows up on the forums in a web-view (browser) but it's people "liking" a posting via TapaTalk. If you don't use TapaTalk I'm not sure you can see them... kinda dumb in my opinion but to each their own. It's sort of like facebook features for forums.
  24. Howdy from another VA MJ'er and welcome to the sickness. Lookin forward to the progress on this.
