  1. Hey folks, I'm kinda new to this whole MJ thing so forgive my ignorance! When I bought my truck last year the blinkers worked just fine, but ever since I had a steering column problem fixed a couple months ago, I have no blinkers whatsoever. I replaced the the flasher module, checked all fuses (that I could see) and checked the bulbs, but I still can't figure it out. Does anyone ave experience with this? I'm not sure if it matters, but there are no dash lights either. Though that has been that way since I bought the truck.
  2. I tried your method today and it worked like a charm. I honestly didn't think I'd ever get that thing off, thanks so much!
  3. I agree I'm making it too complicated, but I just don't know how to get that hub piece off. Someone on other forum said heat. Would that just be a torch? I'm going to try the heat + power steering method. I haven't ever used power steering to push a hub off before, so hopefully nothing catastrophic happens! Sorry about the posting in circles!
  4. The video was really helpful. I can't seem to figure out what the piece that holds the ball joints is called? Would it be completely outrageous if I just cut that off and replaced it since I can't get the hub and knuckle off?
  5. Hey guys, I'm back with my steering parts problems! This started as trying to replace a messed up wheel bearing, then I discovered the bearing was not just messed up, everything in there was fused together since the truck sat in some water for a while. I'm trying to get the knuckle off and can't hoist it up high enough to get it. I need to know what the part in the picture is, in case I end up having to cut it off. I'm sure this all sounds a little deranged, but I just can't get that half moon shaped part off. Does anyone know how to deal with this? I'd appreciate any advice on this since I'm really new to rebuilding Jeeps.
  6. I'll definitely keep that in mind! I just found a knuckle at a junk yard website for an '89 XJ. I know another comment said anything including and before '89 will fit a Comanche, so this might be what I need. Fingers crossed!
  7. Thanks for all the tips! I guess my next question would be if all else fails pulling the old parts off, where can I buy a new knuckle? I've looked all over the internet and every one I've seen is only for 1990-92. I'm assuming something changed in those years and it wouldn't fit my '88.
  8. This is what it currently looks like. The bearing hub put up a fight and I could only get part of it off. The remaining dust plate and bearing seems to be fused to the knuckle and I've tried everything to get it off. That's why I figured just replacing the whole knuckle would be easier at this point. I am basically a noob at all this so I could just be making this way harder than it needs to be! XD
  9. I've been trying to replace a wheel bearing on my '88 4x4, I took it apart (or tried to) to find things a wreck and at this point it would be easier to just take the steering knuckle off and replace it. I'm wondering if I go to a junkyard and pull one off an XJ if it would be an interchangeable part. If so, what years would they have to be? Or if it would be easier to just buy the part new? They seem to run about $150. And advise would be very appreciated!
  10. Hey guys, first post here. I'm rebuilding and '88 4x4 and have it basically done except for a few finishing touches. I ripped out all the old moldy carpet and padding and bed lined the floor. As I figured, when I went to put the center console back in, it sits a good half inch above where it should sit in the floor since there's no carpet now. Does anyone have any recommendations how to make it fit properly, or is having it sit above the floor not bad and just goofy looking? I've done a little bit of shopping around and can't find any aftermarket consoles that will fit either. Am I just screwed without carpet? I appreciate any help, I'm in the home stretch now and can't wait to drive this baby!
