  1. It would be a HP 44. They are a bit wider then a stock Dana 30. It would be worth it IMO.
  2. If you use a stock XJ floor shift or that one in your link, there won't be any cable up to the dashboard or steering column. That was only for MJs with the column shift auto. If you mean the cable for the steering wheel lock, your manual tranny column has a push button for that function. You can run a cable to interlock the steering lock to the shifter -- or you can ignore that and continue to use the push button as you have been. Yep the steering wheel lock  Looks like I should be G2G on this project then! Thank you!
  3. This is what I thinking about doing... :hmm: I cannot see what you mean :hmm: take the torx bit from a screw driver set or pull it out of the socket attachment so you only have the torx bit itsself.slid the boxend of a ratchet wrench over the end you slide in the screwdriver or socket and it fits right in there. you can do it with a regular wrench but it takes forever. with a ratchet wrench its like a socket just keep ratcheting it till it comes out gotcha  Wish I had another torx that big around to tear apart and try!
  4. I searched around a bit for ya and I also only came up with a brand new shaft thats runs around 125-140 dollars. Personally I would not 'cheap' out on steering parts
  5. Bring this back to present day... I have a 98 Cherokee that I'm pulling apart tomorrow. Engine is just a short block, has AW4 and 231 in good condition. This is the trans that I plan to use for my 87. Do I have to swap steering columns for the shift cable that runs up to the column?? I plan to use this for a shifter: http://radesignsproducts.com/RockShifter.aspx

  7. So it might just be that I cannot think straight after finishing up my 13 hour midnights shifts at the mine.... I have unbolted doors before and its always been a cussing match. There has got to be a better way. The 3/8 ratchet and the T-40 torx just do not like to fit in the space alloted. Anybody got any tricks to do this or some "special" tool they use to take doors off? I guess I want to know for future reference cuz I already stripped the crap outa the inside bolt on 2 doors so the cutting wheel will be coming out!!!!! FWIW I'm working on stripping a 98 XJ so thats 24 of those little bastard bolts that gotta come out! :shake:
  8. yes. the windshield installer should be able to to that. might have to mention too them what your plan is so they have the correct parts with them.
  9. Id run 37s on F and R dana 44s with 4.88 gearing. Stock tcase. Least thats my plan someday  Then WHEN they break, 60s. The money they are getting for the HP Dana 60s is rediculous :fs1:
  10. Agreed!
  11. ever tried searching on this site for something specific :headpop:
  12. i agree. it would look good in the project lineup in my yard too. I find myself now not even looking at CL, cuz I will find another MJ or neat jeep to go snap up. I have been on a roll the last month. 3 XJs have followed me home :shake: My car trailer has been hooked to my pickup for a month!
  13. Those 300 L6 engines are just as good as a Jeep 4.0. Stone dead reliable, 300-500k not uncommon before teardown.
  14. I like my iphone. I use it for everything! ComancheClub needs the Tapatalk plugin!!
  15. Check these out, made in South Dakota. https://treadwright.com/c-5-235-75r15.aspx
  16. Mines 23. "Why do you drive that piece of junk instead of your Dodge?" Get that all the time, or "Jeez, how many of these things you got?" :jump: (I have a 2008 CTD that just sits in the garage)
  17. I will check on your order tomorrow. I'm almost certain all the back ordered MJ bumpers are shipping out. We received several from the powder coater late friday after noon. Unfortunetly it was to late to ship them out. I handle the Full-Traction side of things, I can tell you the 3.5" and 6" Long Arm XJ kits are in stock and can ship the same day. As of now, We can only sell/ship the front half of the kit for the MJ. We have not worked out the rear yet. your going to have 3.5 LA Kit with a MJ specific PN someday? I can sell you the front half of the 3.5" Long arm kit. We have not decided what we are going to offer for the rear. I'm trying to decide which direction to go with my MJ either 3.5" or the 6" kit. low is what all the cool kids are doing

    A good one

off topic, i've actually pulled a Escalade outa the mud before, and if that isnt crazy (or stupid) enough, the dip$#!& had just bought it that day and "thought" it was AWD or 4WD whatever those things got. he was trying to decide between a hummer and the caddy. more money then brains... carry on....
  19. digging through the old threads.. I forgot that I posted about this. Still havent got too it! Too many other projects! Plan is too use a large socket that fits in the "lug hole" on the wheel to center the bit. Then I will keep drilling the hole bigger till the darn thing pops off.
  20. I have heard folks using brake fluid for a lube to pop a froze engine loose.....I have never done it.
