Its a shame that the service can be so bad locally. Online parts ordering is probably going to take over the mom and pop auto stores in the near future, unless it already has. I go the local parts store (happens to be a Parts City based store) for common consumables like brake parts, hoses, air fresheners, oil, filters, tune up parts etc. Parts pertaining to offroad use are always ordered. I really like Quadratec's service. You pay for the parts but you get great service. Call them for price matching too :thumbsup:

That article was from October 2001. I didnt realize that either but after I read the article, I do remember reading something to that effect back then but at that time (i was in 8th grade) who had every really heard of bin laden :dunno: Specifically people my age that don't remember the Gulf War conflicts.

every bolt on the jeep probably had a engineer that figured out the optimum torque for each one. just something to complicate everything IMO.

Its out of a 98 TJ.. Trans was pulled and replaced on a wrong diagnosed drivetrain problem. The shop ate the bill for the new trans sounds like and they have had this one laying around. So I guess I'm just assuming that it doesnt have the bell housing. That shouldnt be too much of a problem.

I will probably fab my own X-member, forgot to ad that in the original post. Thank you for the very imformative post! I think I'm going to jump on that low mile AX-15 now! Suppose I will need a different bell housing too.. Source one from any MJ/XJ ax-15 equipped rig I suppose.

I just found a lower mile AX-15 out of a 98 TJ. What would I have to do to it to make it work in a 87 MJ with a pukey? Would my NP231 hanging on the pukey bolt up to 98 TJ AX-15? Clocking going to be a problem or easy fix? Looking for a education even tho its been pounded to death but I could not find a question like mine.. Also what would be a good clutch upgrade? This Jeep will be running at least 35s with a 4:1 in the 231..

17 mpg in my 91 2wd LWB auto with a leaky sending unit... 20 consistantly with my 88 SWB 2wd with 216k... 13 MPG in my 08 STOCK cummins :ack: friggen emmissions :fs1: Needless to say my 30k truck does not leave the yard much....
