  1. I had my driveshaft shortened and it seems to be about 1" too short now. :wall: I thought I read somewhere you could use a chevy truck yolk instead of the Jeep one and it will be longer. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have a 242 transfer case and it's the rear output obviously. Thanks! I don't have any pics of the shaft installed but here's the shafts after they got done.
  2. I like the pictures.
  3. NIce build!
  4. :agree:
  5. Ok with the texting thread all around I thought this would be a good side topic. How old were you when you got your first cell phone or pager? What did you intend to use it for and how much? I'll start. I got my first pager when I was 16 I think. I got it so my friends could get ahold of me and vice versa. The problem was finding a pay phone that you could page someone and then sit and wait for a call back while they found a pay phone or if they were at home. I got a cell phone at 18 since pay phone's stopped taking incomming calls. My plan was $30 for 30 minutes and that was a deal since I was a member of the school credit union, the plan was normally 15 minutes for $30!!
  6. I liked my Nextel 2 way. You get to say what you want to and it's loud like hands free. Texting is just stupid unless you want to send someone a photo but i guess that's not really texting. New drivers have a hard enough time driving with no distractions. My advice is to not give a cell phone with texting until they are 18 years old, it can be moderated by the parents too.
  7. Cool, good to see you back. You had a lot of info and experience to share.
  8. I can see your side on the swap, I have a 2 door XJ for a donor that my wife bought me that I'm itching to restore for a DD winter truck. It's hard to convince myself that I NEED two summer cars and three winter trucks. :shake:
  9. That's why I never liked the truck. They tried to make it look futuristic and after seeing the '94 ranger splash and nite versions of the full size I can see that. I don't like the fiberglass running boards on any truck. I think they should have put a V8 in it but in '87 V8's were a joke. I always thought it looked like a Cherokee with a bed cut in and that's because of the lack of vents. I'm sure it was the shiznit back in the day and of course it was too cool to make production.
  10. I like the color, '88 olympic addition.

    Got my card

Sweet! I was deep into my Electrical apprentiship until my company went bankrupt abruptly and I was out of a job. :headpop: It worked out in the end, I am happy where i'm at and what I'm doing. Great job sticking with it!! Good luck
  12. Add power locks to your jeep, it's easy and if you have a remote it's more difficult to do that!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Viper-350-Plus- ... 415fdaf2e6 Buy a used keyless entry alarm system or remote start and get a couple OEM lock cylinders from a junk yard Cherokee and you have keyless for under $50!!
  13. I'm in for one!! Maybe someday mine will be nice enough to make it into the callendar. Thanks!

    Temptation

I just want pictures!! A '91 that's been parked sinced '91? Something smells fishy. If not it is already sold. Edit: Ok I may have read that wrong, been garage kept since '91. That could mean two different things, never driven since '91 or just parked at night after driven to church.

    Temptation

No picture, what's the point??? :huh???:
  16. I like it. I'm sure the owner took a lot of time to put that together. It looks like the frame is just the right size, sure it could be tucked into the body more and welded but it's a good effort and probably a lot of fun.
  17. So after I picked a perfect day to clean out the garage the wife's Jeep was the only one to stay dry and warm. That meant that both of my Jeeps were left out in the cold.
  18. Drove it to Home Depot to get some 2x10's.
  19. Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm a little confused. To elaborate someone else wants the '96 XJ motor and I want to use the motor already in the '90. I plan on using the '96 flex plate with the '90 block. Can I use it with all the '96 wiring, trans and transfer case? So you are saying the Renix motors have a knock sensor and the Cyro doesn't? If that is the case can I choose not to hook up the knock sensor on the Renix block? What exactly are my limitations from long block to long block. Like I said I want to strip the engines down to bare bones so I will keep all the sensors I need for my conversion. Thanks again for your time.
  20. I have the opportunity to get a '96 XJ for a donor for my '90 XJ. I have a good motor in the '90 so I would like to use everything from the '96 such as the engine harness, dash and interior wiring, trans and transfer case. My questions are: If I remove the '96 engine and strip it down to a bare block and head can I use the '90's engine? I don't know if there are any non-interchangeable parts such as a knock sensor or coolant sensor. I thought the major changes were from '97 so what are your thoughts? Thanks all!!
  21. You first have to narrow down what you're asking. There can be a number of things that contribute to over heating an engine. Air in system. Clutch fan not spinning fan at proper speed or failed. If you have a second cooling electric fan is it working? Thermostat working? Heater core plugged or heater valve working? Water pump good? Do you have adequate pressure on your system? Usually around 13-16lbs is what the cap is rated for. The pressurized system raises the boiling point on the antifreeze water combination so it won't turn into a gas and blow the cap off and thus overheating. That said it's best if you have someone pressure test your cap and the truck to see if you have any leaks. If you don't you might have air in the system. To eliminate the air from a closed loop system (After pressure checking for leaks) start the truck with the cap off the pressure bottle, the bottle should be half full. Squeeze the lower and upper radiator hoses slowly until all air bubbles get forced up into the pressure bottle. You will hear a gurggling sound and see the bubbles come up if yours is clear enough to see out of. After doing that for about 10-15 minutes all the air should be out of the system. You can reinstall the cap, one note is that you don't over tighten the cap and strip it out. Let the truck cool fully for an hour and recheck the coolant level and add as needed. I hope this helps
  22. I can't directly compare to the Bilsteins, These are stainless steel so they won't rust and all BDS suspension parts have a lifetime warranty no questions asked. One note however they don't come with the boots you have to get those extra. I ended up getting them ordered by a local parts supplier that had the boots in stock. The picture doesn't show the quality because it shows all the grain in the stainless reflecting off the flash. One thing that I noticed is most people use any type of shock they can find that will fit like from a F-250 for instance. Those shocks will have a much tougher valve setting so they will ride rough. Mine rides great because they were designed to work with that vehicle.
