  1. I have a new to me 4.7L stroker I would like to buy a new exhaust for. Which exhaust header should I buy? I will be getting a '99 intake and it's a '96 head and block. I have an '87 Comanche. I have heard MOST headers don't work for the '99 intake and I haven't found ANYONE who makes 2.5" exhaust for a Comanche. I would like to go with a single muffler with duals out back. I am also thinking of going with true duals but that's probably not necessary. What are your thoughts?
  2. A large update on the Comanche. First off my 242 transfer case was giving me fits so I rebuilt it since I found the shift fork pads missing and one shift fork was worn down from grinding for who knows however long. I ordered a new shift fork and pads and I am in the process in putting it back together. Next is the big news, my 42,000 mile motor is getting kind of tired so I wanted to stroke it, well I found a 4.7L stroker already built for a great price so I picked it up. I need to buy a '99 intake, a header, and new poly motor mounts. I will take off the oil pan to fix a dented bottom and double check the crank to see what year it came out of. The block is a '96 with NVH stamped on it. It has brass freeze plugs installed and it's clean!! I bought some engine primer and paint to make it look nice before installing it. So here's some pics for you all, enjoy!
  3. Wow, beautiful!! Thanks for posting the pics!
  4. Late 80's early 90's Car stereo amplifiers, I have a mens bathroom with them hanging all over the walls. I figured what better way to decorate a room, rather than buying paintings or pictures make it worth looking at!!

  6. Awesome work you have some great tools at your disposal, that surely helps.
  7. It's not building boost when I just rev the throttle, it's not quick enough/under load. It does build boost under load going down the road though, and you actually can hear it spool. It will build about 8 PSI. The only reason I don't want to pull the engine now is I want to drive it this summer. If I pull the engine, I am going to want to paint the engine bay/frame, and I don't need another Farmer on my hands at the moment. Rob I completely understand that!! I would like to build my motor but it's hard when you want to drive it too! I enjoy reading and seeing pics thanks.
  8. Is that motor building boost? It seems when you rev it up I can't hear the turbo? It looks like you have your work cut out for you, my suggestion is to remove the engine and go through it on an engine stand. Far easier to clean it and replace all the wear parts. I like the diesel noises it makes, cue Tim Taylor!!!!
  9. I am in need of a transfer case because mine is bad. If someone has a 21 spline I would love to take it off their hands ASAP. I am willing to travel maybe 2 hours for a good one. Thanks all!
  10. I have heard nothing but great things about the Tom Woods SYE kit, I think they are the ONLY company making the kit for the 242. It's quality and so is the transfer case. The last one I saw with the Tom Woods sye kit in it for sale was $600.
  11. Sweet, you must post videos when you are done. I want to see what kind of power those make with simple upgrades.
  12. WK 5.7L HEMI enough said Next to my Comanche All the power you need!
  13. Coolness!!
  14. Ya know there is an easy way you are supposed to change the filter on that car. There is a plastic piece inside the fender that you move when you turn the wheel to the right. It is an access panel for the filter, it has louvers in it. Easy as pie, and I usually use the filter for a 4.3 chevy instead because it has more capacity.
  15. That's the exact swap I did. My '90 donor had A/C too, everything works fine.
  16. I hate the suggestion to use the Wrangler platform would be an obvious choice to make a pickup. Honestly the Wrangler has grown into a $35k Jeep like any other. The key word to selling a compact pickup is cheap! I never liked the JK8 in any format just because it'll cost a mint and it's huge! If someone wants to spend the cash for Chrysler to hack up their new Wrangler just to put a shorter than 6' useless bed aka Jeep H3 SUT. The market went upscale and expensive, not the auto companies. We just showed them the way in lackluster sales. That being said they killed the Cherokee and that sold like crazy right up to the end. At first sight of the current Commander I thought it would be a direct replacement for the Cherokee, later did I know it would be an inflated expensive flop. I'm all for the new Comanche but the car companies aren't, it's too much a niche market not unlike this forum.
  17. I love that truck! Anytime you are willing to part with that topper let me know!
  18. Sweet! Why did the Comanche look so good and have so many options for '86 only? The interiors are decked out!
  19. Have you thought about getting a donor engine bay harness instead of cut and soldering every wire? This would simplify the whole process and the connectors are plug and play. There are many different harnesses out there for our trucks but in the end the plugs are all the same. Examples are injectors, dist, starter, relay center etc. Seems like an excellent alternative to me. :hmm:
  20. My 242 in my comanche is bad. I thought it was the linkage adjustment because when I shifted it into 4wd it would not go back into gear afterward. I got the Novak cable shifter adjusted right and it still does it. I took it apart to find the shift fork plastic pieces, in pieces for the most part. That's probably why it wouldn't stay in gear after I shifted it. The magnet has got about 1/2" of fine metal covering it, most likely the gears grinding away. I don't know how to tell if the gears are worn. My question is do I buy a rebuild kit for it or just look for a different one? I want to keep the 242 for the Full Time feature but it's a 21 spline. What should I do?
  21. Well we're short a second winter vehicle so I thought I'd bring the donor for the Comanche my wife bought me for a Christmas present last year back to life. Long story behind all of this but here's the short. 1990 Black XJ was the donor for my Comanche seen here: http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17711&hilit=first+restoration 1995 Green XJ donor for the rust free Black XJ We'll see how it goes, I have a few priorities to take care of, like rebuilding the 242J for my Comanche first, but in time I'll work on this.
  22. NIce job!
  23. I'm honored, thank you! :wavey:
