  1. I have a Kenwood BT755HD: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-kfl5drO7SFB/p_113BT755HD/Kenwood-KDC-BT755HD.html#details-tab It has the dedicated line out for the Sub, but the only setting I can find for it is the "Sub Level" and it goes up from 0 in odd increments, IE 1, 3, 5, 7... Seems to just make the bass stronger. The amp also has all the little adjustment knobs. They all may as well be labeled in Chinese for me. My biggest overall worry is blowing the new 8", which is a cheap sub since it was the only thing that would fit in that box from Mopar. From everything I have heard about Rockford Fosgate, I assume that amp could fry that sub in its sleep. Rob
  2. Finished the install today to the point where it is operational. Need to take some pics once I get it all cleaned out. Kevin, any setup tips? I have never had an amp/sub such as this... Only a bazooka tube and that stock factory amp. This has a lot of features. Rob
  3. The grease gun drip catcher... I'm going to get me one of those... I can't believe I never thought of that. I hate it when it leaves a pool of lube where ever I set it down. Rob
  4. Might as well do the seals if you have everything else out. Rob
  5. Sore spot. I bought it like that. I hate them. Hate them. Hate. They don't belong, the truck doesn't need them, and it put a bunch of stupid holes in a generally clean body. Whomever installed them missed a few times, and just left the holes wide open. When I bought it I had to RTV the holes until I get around to repainting it. I would strongly advise against any sort of lights on the cab like those. Rob
  6. I believe it's just sitting in the bed. Any lift as the vehicle is moving would be stopped by the toolbox. I imagine weighting down a structure like that could be easily done with sandbags. Rob
  7. What is it with the porn red interiors and diesels!? Welcome to the club! Sounds like you have a good head of steam on what you need to get done and how to go about it. I fought, and still am fighting electrical issues with mine also. I replaced the alternator on mine also, chasing a tach issue and low volts. Mine ended up being the actual tach. Luckily, another member was close, and gave me the tach out of their well used '86 TD. (opsled/JeepcoMJ) Alternator was available, through CarQuest, PN 14891. I would suggest picking up some factory service manuals for it. They pop up on eBay from time to time. There is a Renault specific engine manual, and one for the injection pump of interest. There is also some others like the base '86 MJ manual which are neat, and then some training books. I do also have the '86 AMC/Renault/Jeep Laserdisc training set along with the workbooks. Some good info to be had out there. You won't find many people who know how to work on them, so you are pretty much on your own. I got lucky with Phil/Pat living so close and having one for 170K. Most everything can be read from a manual, but it helped having someone who had done it/maintained one for years. Off the top of my head, things to check into: -Starter is known for cracking the trans bell housing because of the high torque. Mine was already welded when I bought it. -A lot of the foreigners say these engines had oil pump issues. Keep an eye on the PSI. -Interference motor running on a timing belt. (You already been there and bought the t-shirt on this one) -Vacuum pumps are also known for issues. -Cooling system. It uses an open system radiator with a closed system style, like the Renix. The cap on the radiator is non traditional. It's just a flat cap with no pressure spring. The overflow portion of the radiator is actually pressurized with the tank. I also had to have the nipple on the neck re-braised. -Head gaskets are different thicknesses, measured and applied after knowing deck height. If you need a new one, be sure to count the dots on the edge before ordering. Happy clattering! Rob
  8. Trying the best I can, but I can't find anything of trailerable size I can't live without on the Atlanta, GA CL. Rob
  9. Ben knows about it. He's got some lines out, and was waiting for more of a complete story on it before bringing it to the group. Rob
  10. Supervisor confirmed ours was a Cummins. He thinks it was the same model as the OP bought. Rob
  11. I think you could order different power units... I could be mistaken. We have 140 something pieces of equipment, so I could be getting it mixed up with something else. Most of the stuff has a John Deere, but we have some oddballs in the mix also. Rob
  12. I want to say we had the same Cummins 3.3L in our Vermeer BC1400. I'd be able to get you more info, but we sold the chipper and all documents 2 weeks ago at the municipal surplus auction. Rob
  13. Sent message for build date. Rob
  14. Gasp! Captain's seats in the second row and 3rd row seating! Rob
  15. I like this, a lot. Rob
  16. I would think that adding a link into your signature would satisfy anyone wondering about it. Rob
  17. I'd be less worried about the injuries from the Jeeps themselves so much as the occasional rattle snake you say you find under the various vehicles... If I were to crawl under a vehicle and encounter a rattler, a bite would be the least of my worries. I would probably hit my head, shoulders, and knock myself out stupid banging around trying to make a hasty retreat. Snakes... :shudder: Rob
  18. This is the bronze one... The gold ones are numbered and were handed out to the higher ups. Rob
  19. Pleasure having you out. Always like to share the MJ love. Like I said, if you need a hand inspecting or haggling when it comes time to pick one up, let me know. I'd be happy to help you out. Rob
  20. If someone thinks their smart phone will stop tracking you because you unclicked an option best not have a smart phone. So many ways to track you, be it GPS, signal triangulation... If you don't want to be tracked, leave it at home. Fingerprint scanners, phones that listen to you for commands on a constant basis, face recognition... It's a brain in your pocket. Rob
  21. 100% positive it is the 2wd white longbed that had been on eBay and around for sale for years now. Rob
  22. Fixed it for ya. Rob
  23. 30 MPG in the MJ all day long... Straight highway with the right driver I bet you could be in the 35-40 range. Rob
