Amazing Home Brewed Drift Truck... Sorry, But Mazda Content

Hows about this 500 HP at the wheels AWD V6 Cyclone? -
CL is best, eBay is second best, but buyer beware... This is the kind of thing you want to see in person, or be dealing with someone who likes to take a lot of pics. I spent hours rebuilding mine after buying it from my roommate who found out the hard way. Bought it off eBay, and they guy misrepresented it. Hack wiring, hack body, hack 'Water proofing' (either covered in liquid electrical tape, or inside a zip tied balloon covered in liquid tape), dry washed out bearings, dirt everywhere, dry transmission, bent motor mount plate... I ended up going through it tip to tail with new bearings, front driveshaft, motor plate, spent hours picking off the tape and cutting out the balloons, cutting off all the hack excess wiring... Wiring is a huge pet-peeve of mine, as part of my job entails upfitting squad cars... This made me want to stab someone. Bent motor plate: Dry trans: Dirt in everything, seized bearings: Wiring all said and done. Cut out all the stupid excess lights, unnecessary items, and soldered everything. All said and done, CL would be the best bet. I am surprised our own Neohic hasn't already picked up one of these bodies and put it on a car chassis to do a mini archer truck... Ben? :brows: Rob

90 Mj Long Bed In Junkyard Cleveland Ohio

I'd be interested in that cab wing thing... If that is something poking up from the rear of the cab... Or any other weird, smaller shippable items. Rob -

Lots of pics... Front bumper, rear, where they shaved the cab vents, rear axle... All over. That MJ looks like it was something special at one point in time. I'd be interested to learn more about it. Rob -

Killing me too. If it was 2-3 hours away I'd already been there and grabbed them. Something like those shouldn't just be looming around in a yard. Rob -
89eliminator has a large can in the back of his MJ, and he can fit a ton of stuff into it. I plan on doing the same once I get The Farmer up and running. Big enough for a coolant jug and all sorts of stuff in there. Rob

You can pick up most of this online. I like Tower Hobbies. When you spend enough, you can pick up some good discount codes on retailmenot.com . As Brett said, you can get as crazy as you want with these. You can run them straight out of the box in a Ready To Run (RTR), or you can get the kit and build it yourself. Everything after that is an upgrade... Motor, trans, transfercase, front dig box, axle shafts, knuckles, hubs, wheels/tires, long arm... Anything... Here are some pics of mine when I was rebuilding it after buying it used and abused: Rob

Chrysler Vin Check - Jy Find - Is Everything I Know A Lie!?

It did have the auxillary trans cooler. This needs more looking at for curiosity's sake. If I get the chance, I'll bring a jack out there and pull the diff cover. Rob -
Silverstars at that... If Sir Sam saw that I think he would have a heart attack. Rob

Chrysler Vin Check - Jy Find - Is Everything I Know A Lie!?

When I was in the back panel, there was an assembly VIN tag sticker on the body that matches everything else. I'm confused by the whole thing. On another note... I too wish I'd have kept my ZJ... I underestimated how nice the ride and comfort of it was until I got back into an XJ... Boy do I miss that ZJ. Rob -

Thanks fellas! I see the 'ARXP Country Decor Group' which somewhat confirms my original thought that maybe someone swapped the country decals out for the limited ones... I see mention of the 8.25 and 3.55 gears, but nothing as far as a limited slip. I do see all 4 aluminum rims and a matching spare listed though... It only had a convenience spare in it at the yard, and looked like it had only had that for awhile judging by the carpet impression on the rear wheel well. Only real way to know about the limited slip will probably be to have them pick it up so I can get to the diff cover... Or bring a jack and do it myself. Rob :hmm: -

Ok... So I did stop by the dealer before going out there, and I didn't get any information. He didn't even pull up the build sheet, and just gave me a "Doesn't tell me". Usually they are pretty helpful. Today, not so much... But what is really hard to figure out is the back story here. I went back to grab what I was going to assume would be the skids, limited slip, tow hooks... And found none of that. I also took a closer look into the "Limited" aspect of it. This is where I get lost. As far as I knew, '97 did not have a limited offering. As I understood it, the "Country" was still burrito supreme until '98 when the Limited made a comeback. The interior was the mist gray, but was cloth. Interesting enough though was that the door panels had a cloth insert that matched the seat, and woodgrain like a limited. So there is that. I also was confused by the "Upcountry Package" as I thought it was a full boat of skids, hooks, and suspension... But the skids and hooks were MIA, and didn't look to ever have been on. No marks or anything. It looks like whomever had this had it pretty set up at some point, as it had a car phone (Remnants under the rear seat), the nicer sound system (Tweeters behind the mirror were already gone, but the wires to them were lopped off), rear spoiler (Assuming so from the rubber nuts in the hatch), vent visor impressions remaining, and an XJ Mopar storage box in the back. I know the storage couldn't have been for this, as it was originally a tan box that was painted to match. The interesting thing about the box was the back was cut out of it, and the back of the panel in the XJ was cut out. I tried my best to guess what they might have been doing with the cut out, but nothing really stuck out other than 3 butt connectored wires behind the panel. Anyone have any guesses? Pics of the Jeep: So did '97 have Limiteds? Any guesses on the rest of this conundrum? Rob :dunno: -
Was wondering if one of our resident Chryco employees could run a VIN for me. I ran across an XJ in the yard that had the Up Country Suspension Group decals in the back window and was curious whether or not the rear end would be a limited slip worth grabbing (Or having them grab). Kinda curious if if would be as serious as gear also, although I highly doubt it. 1J4FJ78S2VL589798 Also, this one is stuck in the mud, so I can't see much. Up Country also includes what else? Skids? Hooks? Rob

I'm still on the wait boat. I also went to UTI and took the Auto, Diesel, and Industrial courses. It's not cheap. Save your money, drive what you have. Once you get rolling in UTI, see what comes along. You will be mingling with a pretty big pool of gear heads. Put out some feelers while you are there, make some friends, and who knows what might shake loose. Rob

No matter the time of year, a 4 cylinder truck for under a grand will get snapped up by any cheap do it yourselfer or scrapper if the price is right... Something stinks in that ad. There will be others. I'd wait it out. What is your current budget?

If it's been up this long, he ain't selling. He originally posted it back in Jan for $800... Then in Feb dropped it to $600... To think that someone hasn't come around and made a decent offer either means he's not ready to sell, or the truck is in a lot worse shape than he describes and isn't worth more than scrap. I am a big wheeler/dealer in parts and vehicles. I like to think that if it was a good deal, and it's still there in a week, the deal wasn't good, or wasn't real. If something has been sitting with a price like that for over 2 months and no bites... Some parts of the puzzle are missing. Stick to your guns, and wait for the right one. I overpaid for my first MJ by $500. It was an '86 Base, 2.5L AX4 2WD with rust holes the size of grapefruits. While I would gladly pay that $1000 for it again if I ever found it, I now know I paid too much to begin with. That MJ will always hold a certain luster for me, as the one that started it all... Make your first MJ memory more worth holding onto. Rob

If I ran across a set of these at a junkyard... Substitute the reaction when he hits 100, for finding the flares... People would stare - or run. *Pointing at truck* "THOSE ARE MJ DUALLY FLARES!!!" -
You mean the one I mentioned here a month ago? http://comancheclub.com/topic/41901-getting-a-comanche-the-dilemma/?p=424445 A running, driving vehicle in my book is usually worth about $500. Anything above and below that are really up to how bad the seller wants to get rid of it and how bad the buyer wants it. Once the exhaust and brake line are fixed it's still only worth $800-1200 depending on buyer and seller again. I would say offer $400, but if it runs and drives decent, I don't think $500 is out of the question. Rob

http://www.autoblog.com/2014/03/04/2015-jeep-renegade-deep-dive-official-photos-geneva/ I'll say it... I like it. More so than the New Cherokee. I can only hope some of the styling cues from the front of this migrate onto the still somewhat harsh front end of the New Cherokee. We need something to remain competitive and strong in the market. More profits mean more play money. I think with looks like this and a solid drivetrain... The phrase hot cakes comes to mind. Jeep style, 4x4, MPGs, all in a nice package? Sold. I will be very excited to see this at the '15 Chicago auto show and hope they have one running the circuit. Rob
