  1. After rereading my post to make sure all my info is correct, I think I know where you were heading, but why the confusion started. If you would have had in the part I added in red, I think we may be having a different discussion. Was said in response to the last of the MJ's being able to be ordered/equipped with whatever the hell you damn well please remark.............. the D44 and power window/locks options weren't available after '91 into '92 as standard on Eliminators. But it was never a standard to begin with. Which is why I think there was additional confusion. So I and Pat, (most likely) thought you were making a blanket statement about all HO era MJ's. Rob
  2. So here you said they weren't available at all. That they never existed? Because in this post you verify that they did, but not as an option in anything but the Metric Ton: No option included the D44 other than the Metric Ton (AMC 20 in '86), but it was an ala carte with any sub trim. I should makre mention that I could be wrong regaring the early 'Off-road paqckage' as that may have had an HD rear axle in the paqckage - But not sure enough to say with certainty. I think this is the exception, rather than the rule. It was still only an option. I just checked a few sites, and the D44 was an option on a '92 MJ when referencing rear drivetrain components or brake parts. In later posts, bu initially you made it sound as such. I think now we are on the same page. D44 - Never standard on anything other than the Metric Ton. Maybe Offroad group... PW/PDL - Only standard on XLS and Laredo trim levels. But all were available with a check of a box in any year. They were never an exclusion, as your inital response stated that started the debate. Rob
  3. Was said in response to the last of the MJ's being able to be ordered/equipped with whatever the hell you damn well please remark.............. the D44 and power window/locks options weren't available after '91 into '92. Please don't spread misinformation. The D44 was still available after '90, and I am almost positive that so were P/W / P/L's... A quick check of my '92 Jeep dealer podium shows the D44 / Metric Ton package. We've seen H.O. models with and D44's. Even shortbed D44's with the offroad package or just because. I couldn't dig deep enough to find the P/W / P/L's, but I am almost positive. Might have been a goofy dealer add-on, or something they didn't promote because of cost, but may have been available on an order sheet. Rob
  4. Why do you say that? Rob
  5. Hunter Green Metallic was only available as a 'Special Order' in late '92. So if you really think about it, late '92 was from Jan 1 to end date... And only 952 total were made. So out of those, how many you think were the special order color? Not many. There was another one that was special order color for Elims also... Can't remember if it was blue or purple though. Oh, and Longbed Eliminators... We have only ever come across one here on the group. As with most things Chrysler... When the MJ was headed out the door, you could get whatever-the-hell-you-damn-well-please. Rob
  6. http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/4367299384.html I figured this had to be posted in the pub, since we know how many of those are out there... This is the only other one I have ever seen not in a brochure. Looks like they have all original paperwork also. Ad is a little old, but you never know... They may still have it. Credit to bigsarge for finding it. Rob
  7. Just got off the phone with the owner. Very nice guy and a Jeep nut to boot. I had sent him a message about the Build date / VIN to see where it fell in the production run. Said he's going to take a look at the title and let me know. http://evansville.craigslist.org/cto/4390381155.html 92 jeep comanche 4x4 - $3000 (evansville) © craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap (google map) (yahoo map) 1992 Jeep Comanche odometer: 183000 automatic transmission title : clean This listing is for a 1992 jeep comanche pickup. 8. I think that price is a little light in my opinion... I bet it would get $15,000-$17,000 all day with the right audience. Rob
  9. http://greenbay.craigslist.org/pts/4389120109.html factory comanche roll bar and brackets - $75 (n of gb) © craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap 1976 cross rd (google map) (yahoo map) factory installed jeep comanche roll bar ( light mounts on it ) mounting brackets. removed from a jeep comanche. don't ask me if it will fit your s-10 or ranger, it may but it is intended for a jeep comanche and it fits perfectly. 920 six 0 nine 0 two three 0
  10. I know people that have used Horse mats for bed mats and loved them. Nice thick rubber and you just cut to fit. Most farm supply stores have them in stock. Rob
  11. Hopefully Jeep is paying attention to what I have been hinting at for years (*Cough cough - Come back of Eagle AWD), but it looks like some guys over at Yahoo autos have been thinking the same. They teamed up with someone and made some concept drawings. http://autos.yahoo.com/news/jeep-hatchback-concept-production-hopes-rally-dreams-171143311.html Rob
  12. I would see about posting that up over on www.nagca.com and get it to the guys who would really like it. To part that out, or put those parts into something not ZJ would be like someone cutting up a factory MJ rollbar to put into their Dakota. Rob
  13. Tow bar attachment points? Rob
  14. I myself have always been after the white whale of Comanches. At a point in time I had the last known Comanche made, as well as being the only known factory hunter green Eliminator. What really got to me was the fact that even though it was all of these things, it was still just a 4.0L AW4 231 with D30/35. Nothing special. No power windows, no power locks... Just an 'every truck' in different clothes. It didn't help that on my way home with it (not kidding) someone just happened to surface with one that had a later build date on the same thread. When I had the opportunity to purchase a factory diesel, that was my 'white whale'. The vehicle that at an instant, you knew was something different. You don't have to explain that the color was only available at end year, or that it is one of the last made... People walk by, see the engine, and stop in their tracks. -at least the ones that know enough to care. When the opportunity presented itself to pick it up, I jumped on it. Lots of people can say they have a Pioneer, few less for Elimintator, fewer can say Chief, fewer yet an X or XLS... But to say you have an X, with a factory, turbocharged, intercooled, oil cooled, overhead cam, Renault diesel, that's a five speed, four wheel drive, A/C, power windows, power locks, cruise control, and get 30 MPG? I'm the only one I know of. As Pat said, I probably have the rarest factory attainable MJ, at least in my eyes. The only thing that would make it better is if they had checked the box for the Metric Ton package and strapped up an AMC 20. That would have been the cherry on it. Sure, there are the Archer trucks, the thunderchief, the street MJ's are out there, but I just don't hold them to that same standard. The Thunderchief is complete unobtainium, the archers trucks were customized after market, and so were the street Comanches. Not to say I would turn any of them down given an opportunity... Then there is other stuff, like LWB roll bars, the bar that adds 2 more lights to a factory bar, the bed mats, hidden winches, grille guards, window louvers, factory plows... But all of that is more or less bolt on and changable... Not exactly tied to a truck. While they contribute to the rarity of a truck, they don't make it so. My '87 will have the LWB roll bar, the hidden winch, and any other small options I can get my clammy hands onto, but I don't think that will make any more rare, just more of a conversation piece. The stories behind how I got those are more interesting than the parts themselves. Rob
  15. The swoosh was just a dealer installed decal. The sportruck did still exist, but it looked like this:
  16. All factory. Rob
  17. While I have digital copies, and a tough book that can travel in the garage where ever... There is something just more convenient and assuring in flipping through pages to find what I am looking for. Digital frustrates me because there is no fast way to flip and browse at the same time... Or flip back and fourth quick, or have a couple pages open at a time without minimizing and maximizing. I need to add more of the hard copies to my collection myself. Rob
  18. Guess so. You may be able to find a cheaper set used though... And IIRC, those don't include the wiring diagrams, which can be found in this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1988-JEEP-COMANCHE-SERVICE-MANUAL-SHOP-ELECTRICAL-TROUBLESHOOTING-/161240335748?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item258aac4584&vxp=mtr Rob
  19. Get out of the stone age and get a smartphone already ya geezer! Most smartphones have a good enough camera for daily use and MJ stuff... Upload directly to your favorite photo hosting site, and are a great tool. Rob
  20. Jeep Cherokee Limited. Great shape... They are super plush and comfortable too. Ran them in my '92 Eliminator before I sold it. Looked great in there. Rob
  21. Decals you can pick up from www.jeepsticker.com I posted up in your wanted thread for the interior stuff, I have a set of factory grey leather seats in great shape and a couple sets of full interior plastics and a dash so you don't have to repair the one you have. I'll even help you toss it in and reharness/zip tie the dash harness. I have a few sets of grey door panels, some with laredo trim (Cloth inserts) that were power, some crank... I have some other parts and rarities also that you can poke through if you head out this way and we can get you set up. May even let you take the Diesel MJ for a spin. Rob
  22. I have a couple great condition factory leather buckets I am sitting on, as well as 3 complete grey interior sets... I really need the space and the money, I would love to work something out if it helps us both out. Dash had a cover on it it's whole life, so it's in great shape... Power and crank door panels, A/B pillar trim... I may part with the headliner board I have also, since I am probably going the SMS route myself. Rob
  23. bigsarge, you really need to come out by me. Bring a shopping list, and we can see how much we can get you set up with. I have the interior lights, and SMS Headliners would be the way to go for that. Rob
  24. Where at in Chicago land are you bigsarge? Skip the double platnium plugs... Would be a waste of money. The old 4.0L loves the regular old copper plus. No need to spend any extra. Have you seen the 'cowl' intake setups for the MJ/XJ? Puts the draw in for the cold air up by the wiper motor instead of the hot corner by the exhaust. Also, have you checked your VIN/Build date? Do you have one of the last made? VIN serials over 200,000 will most likely be in '92, but a door sticker will give us more of a base to work with. Rob
