Scored some new MJ stuff for the collection: '92 Jeep/Eagle showroom display: Wall hangers: Paint chip and fabric sample board: The thing that drew me to the CL ad: And finally, an MJ poster: Not really MJ related, but there also was a setup from 2000: Picked them up from a nice guy who was cleaning out his storage, and these were some of the last things left. He had been the owner of a dealership that was in his family since the '40's when his dad picked it up. He was fortunate enough to sell the dealer before the recession hit, and still had a lot of the old promo things kicking around. He sold off a lot in '06, but said this was pretty much the last of it, save some old old Nash/Rambler/Dodge Bros. stuff. He was happy to see it go to someone who would keep it around, as he just said he couldn't see just throwing it away. I was happy to part with some cash and pick this stuff up. I wasn't all that interested in the 2000 stand, but figured I would find someone who would like it. I gave him a club card with my info, told him about us, and of course spoke of the WFC Peter's Land Speed Truck and the original, Neohic and the Archers, and all the stuff that makes our club the great place to hang out. Hope he stops in and pokes around. Seemed like a good guy. Rob

Oh gawd... I don't know if I have ever gotten it up to 65-70. I don't ask much of it. That little Renault is usually buzzing around 3,000 RPMS @ 60 with the 4.10's. It does it just fine, and maintains speed, but I just don't like pushing it beyond that. It's in retirement. I'm not going to ask the soul old to do much, it's just happier than a clam puttering around and doing the backroads speed limits. A sunset, a country road, some fields and trees whipping by as the tunes jam along with the hum of the motor is all it needs to do. As for the shift points... It's been a few weeks since it's been out... Couldn't tell ya honestly. I've had a bunch of full pics of it up, but Facebook keeps changing the addresses on them so the links die out. If anyone ever wants to drive it, as long as you already know how to drive stick, by all means. If you are out this way, give me some notice and I'll shine it up and get it ready to go. I'm riding shotgun to keep an ear and eye on the old man, but that's all. Once the snow flies and the salt drops it gets parked though, so plan accordingly. Rob

2.8 Or 2.5 Which Would You Choose
Automan2164 replied to coyote kid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think the OP was talking about the GM2.8L lol. In which case, I'd go 2.5L hands down. My '86 will have a 4.0 once I'm done with everything haha. OP never specified. Devil is in the details. Rob ;) -

Sorry... Still sitting on the coffee table... That whole time to do it thing is a big hinderance. I am wrapping up some home improvement projects at the moment, so maybe soon. I haven't set aside the time needed to run 10 ga from the battery all the way to the back opposite corner. Rob

Looks like a factory HW, but I'll hold the full judgement until I see some more details... Could be the aftermarket HW by Warn... The factory one would have all the trim pieces and blocker plates, and didn't come with a roller fair lead. The brushguard does give it some credit though... Maybe removed from another XJ/MJ as a unit and the trim got tossed. The factory brush guard... What is neat, is the rollbar, as it looks to be a mini copy of the J-10 bars. Rob

Not totally uncommon. We are coming up to our annual municipal surplus auction, and there are some reserves there, as well as a few private sales peppered in. The auctioneer that is hired to sell it is decent about reserves though... While he won't come outright and tell you, he demands that the seller stands next to the booth as they auction the vehicle... If they are close but haven't reached the reserve, he will tell everyone 'It's going to take a little more than that fellas' or, as the case in this MJ, convince the seller to drop the reserve... At $300 away, I would have thought it would be an easy pitch to the seller to drop it if the auctioneer was worth his salt. The thing I can't stand is buyer premiums... There is one that does the county auctions for the next county over that has an 18%(!!!!!!) buyers premium. Rob

A Real Survivor ... Take A Look At This!
Automan2164 replied to NHMJXJ's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Those door panels aren't stock... And I doubt the P/W P/L's are either. Those panels are from an XJ limited. Rob -
The only thing I don't like it the bed gap. Had they just made a new one behind the extended cab, it would have been perfect. All the rest of the stuff, like the inside, is just finish and tinkering. Rob

Eagle, now that you have a smart phone, I would just use the Navigation service that came with the phone. It's free, you will always have it on you, and it requires no subscription updates. Most phone GPS apps are ran/developed by big names in GPS. I have the Google navigation, and it works great. Rob
