  2. The passenger side should have a nut strip installed but the drivers side won't several places sell the strips and they are around $30 a pair
  3. If you haven't found one yet I should be able to grab one from a 2 door Cherokee , it'll have the chrome piece but will need to be cut to length
  4. In the transmission, they can be checked by measuring the ohms at the transmission electronic plug .
  5. Might have a bad solenoid ( possibly blowing the fuse ?) , mine "shifted " to but was a dog too. I ended up having two bad solenoids out of the 3 in there .
  6. Black dash is located , got it out of a 86XJ (glove box is trashed) . The rest I'm still on the hunt for ....
  7. I've never seen one back there , at least there wasn't on my 88 when I had it completely torn apart . There was part numbers stamped in the metal though .
  8. Thanks , it's gone now
  9. I had an 87 2.5 aw4 2wd MJ (also had A/C ) , it ran great down the freeway / downtown/etc nothing wrong with that truck by any means . I fail to see where he posted that he was street racing on the weekends and wanted more power , why can't he do what he wants to his own truck ?????? To the OP , no reason you couldn't be into that swap for $500 , where do you live ?
  10. Why are you searching for an 86 ? He stated in his first post that he has an 87 . Anyhow , if they have the trans .... they had the truck .... and they have the flexplate etc And I can read mine just fine ....
  11. Here's A list of 2.5 4x2 transmissions, couldn't see where you live ... http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi
  12. Ok so where's the place at ? Do they have a number?
  13. Hello I'm in the need of several parts please : easiest first lol: A black dash (non broken with glove box door . Black seatbelts ( bench side) Rear speaker brackets The interior HVAC vacuum harness+switch and electrical harness (with a/c for an 1987 ) Please let me know what you have and price please , I'm located in Youngstown Ohio.
  14. Keep it up Don !! Your mind is going to tell you it wants more cigarettes ,but your body is thanking you for quitting. Be prepared for weight gain , doing anything for that ?
  15. When you are referring to a "sending unit " that is just the fuel gauge sender that you are using . I'm just saying this so no one goes out and thinks that this will be a bolt on affair ( the fuel tank baffles ) . You can purchase an H.O or Renix fuel XJ sending unit and harvest the fuel gauge sender so the gauge will not read backwards. The operating pressure of the renix 2.5 is around 17 PSI and the 4.0 is 31-39 PSI . The Walbro pump has the correct specs although some people say you can run the same in both ... Good write up though !
  16. The brakes were non existent . Had to replace the wheel cylinders, shoes , hardware , hoses, calipers , rotors , turned the drums , also replaced all 4 shocks and the steering stabilizer Probably going to to end up using these canyon wheels and 31s
  17. The P.O. said that the truck was running like crap and he took the fuel sending unit / tank down and found rust in both of them . He sourced a new tank and an XJ sender ( can be seen in the bed of the truck ) and left it that way for 5 years . I started off with a new fuel pump , used MJ sender , plugs , wires , cap , rotor , serpentine belt and fuel filter , I also had to replace the alternator due to a bad bearing . After replacing everything it fired up and ran beautifully, it's super quiet ( looks like someone recently had an exhaust system put on ) . Next on on the list was switching to gauges instead of the idiot lights.Bought all the necessary parts and everything is working as it should ,I'm getting 40-60 lbs oil pressure and engine is running around 200 degrees. The truck came without power steering and it just so happened that I saved all the parts from my 89 2.5 MJ that was converted to a 4.0 . Here's a before and after pic ...
  18. Good to know , thanks. I used the 10k once when the power went out , other than that it never gets used (I still run it occasionally and keep fresh gas/stabil in it ) .
  19. The Coleman can start the A/c , but I feel it's too loud to camp at night with. I have plans of making a MJ LWB camper trailer (with possibly a wildernest ) and having an A/C unit in the front of the bed for those hot nights .
  20. I was looking at this video and the A/c unit won't be that large .
  21. Honda : https://www.google.com/search?q=honda+eu2000i&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=svin&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjP9L3awobcAhWG6oMKHUt4DksQ_AUIESgB&biw=375&bih=559 Duromax : https://amazinggenerators.com/products/duromax-xp10000e-portable-generator?variant=5676356894751&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImtOg9MKG3AIVCZNpCh0jGQbhEAQYAyABEgKTcfD_BwE
  22. Long story short, a guy wants to trade me (even trade ) a Honda eu2000 generator with less than 5 hours on it for my duromax 10,000 XE generator with probably 25 hours on it . I would like a quiet generator to power a small a/c unit etc (for camping ) and as most people that have generators know you never use them unless you sell them lol. I do have a small Coleman 3750 unit that I can use too , good or bad idea ? Just looking for opinions, thanks
