Deep in the heart of Comanche County
Comanche County replied to Comanche County's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Yesterday it was raining so I took advantage of the reprieve from the heat and got the AX15 back in. Had a day long delay trying to get the pilot bushing out though. It was worn so badly that I thought it was fused to the I.D. of the crank. I tried drilling and prying but no luck, went and rented a pilot bearing puller and it wouldn't work either. There just wasn't enough left to grab onto. I finally got it out by sharpening a small chisel blade and chiseling it until I could get under it, break it and pull the pieces out with needle nose pliers. Then after several failed attempts I finally got the AX15 heaved back in. Little hint everyone: It'll stab easier if you remove or loosen the exhaust pipe at the header. I just put the old clutch back it because it looked good. I'll save the new clutch for when I can find an external set up. Next came the new 241J. I was planning on using my old rear flange from the 8.8 but it was the wrong bolt pattern and pilot size. So I just dropped it off at a machine shop awaiting a new flange. Not sure what company will provide the flange, the Spicer part number that fits the 241 is discontinued. A guy I spoke with on the phone did tell me that a flange off a Dakota rear axle will fit on the rear output of a 241. But either way its a 1330 series flange and my double cardon is 1310. So Monday or Tuesday, I should be able to pick up the 241 with a modified drive shaft with a 1310/1330 double cardon U joint on it. Can't wait to drive it again... :driving: -
Cool dude, enjoy. I have a bunch to download too.

Comanche County replied to wranglercory's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just broke apart an extra MJ spring pack and only used the main leaf. I have the remaining leaves and will ship them you to if you want. They came out of a LWB 2.5L with an automatic. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=23972 Just send me a PM. -

I saw an old set of 3.91s in a local pawn shop here. The guy said they were NOS that came out of an old auto parts store and had never been used. He was asking 40 bucks for them and said they were for a Dana 60, but I don't think he really knew what they were for. The pinion was the older style course spline version so I didn't get them. If you're interested I can go back by and check for numbers on them.

I bought mine for 900 as a secondary winter vehicle in CO. We had a mini-van and an XJ at the time. The plan was the wife would use the xj to get the kids to school when it snowed and I'd use the MJ to snow plow and make extra money. At least that was my justification. :brows: I said I'd make at least three grand plowing with it......but instead it didn't snow that much, I only plowed my driveway and I didn't make any money at all. But I did put about 3 grand into truck for a lift, tires, parts etc. :D

Yeah, really nice. Thanks for posting that.

Anyone know any good songs about wrenchin' and wheelin'? I figure a Jeep/Truck/anything automotive playlist would be pretty cool with everyone's input. If you know of some, feel free to list your cool car or truck songs. Its not limited to any style rock, county, folk or whatever. As long as its about vehicles in some way... Been on an Americana kick lately so I'll list those first... Here goes: Racing in the Street - by the Boss, but I like Charlie Robison's version...really cool! Highway 377 - by Cross Canadian Ragweed. Jesus' Cadillac vs the Devil's hot rod Ford. The Truck Song - Lyle Lovett - "Ole Black's my truck's name. She's held together by BF Good tires and bailing wire." Nothin but a Good Ride - Lyle Lovett Rusty old American Dream - Pat Green Beat up Ford - Jack Ingram By Slaid Cleaves: Skunk Juice - Cool song about junkyardin' for old Mopar parts - a must have! "Well the owner's got a little attitude but he'll give you a deal if he's in the mood". Race Car Joe Last of the V8s By Fred Eaglesmith: Love him or hate him, he's the ultimate "Machine" symbol. Bench Seat Baby - For all you guys with bench seats in your MJs, you'll like this one! Alternator - "Took her to the Garage put a note on the door, said it might be the alternator, could be the coil". 105 Georgia Overdrive Indian Motorcycles - Another great one! John Deere B I Wanna buy your Truck Black Bear Road - C.W. McCall - This video is awesome! Rock: SpaceGrass - Clutch - A galactic space race between a Galaxy 500 and Dodge Swinger. Texas Rockabilly Rebel - By none other than the Reverend Horton Heat.

Kinda wish I had that problem, max speed my truck has seen is 79 mph coming down a huge mountain in 'Georgia Overdrive'.

Howdy fellas

"But honey I'm just reading them for the vintage Jeep ads." Good one!!! :rotf:

:rotf:  Another! Another!

Yep that's the one! Although don't laugh, I've been reading up on the old Eagle 4x4s. They were technologically ahead of the power curve, beside that I'm starting to think having one would be pretty cool. If I was still in CO I'd get one and start challenging every Subaru I saw.

Never too many AMCs....even though I don't have one, I'm always on the lookout for a J-truck or old Waggy, or an old Cherokee Chief or anything I guess.... Lately I found this: http://killeen.craigslist.org/pts/1813121710.html This AMC collector's estate collection is being sold off right now. (Wish I'd got the AMX!) http://www.planethoustonamx.com/amc_est ... hooper.htm
