Had a little: This is a county road to our property. I stopped here to gauge the drifts further up, as they were deeper. Turned around when the snow was taller than my tires. Image Not Found Image Not Found

Probably have them use the USPS International Flat Rate Boxes. Check it out at www.usps.com and see what best suites your needs.

Meet-n-greet sounds great. How about Moab? Wish you the best in your next round(s) of testing!

I have had great luck with the OME shocks on my TJ. 65K miles and still doing their job. Not sure if they offer one in the configuration you will need. I think the Rubicon Express monotubes are a similar design.

Glad you made it OK... Wildman, how about you? The ice looks like the freezing drizzle we had for the past few days. Ice is not joke. We get it regularly in KS. Pic from our last bad freeze, 2007:

to lift or not to lift?
87Warrior replied to boardmanMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: No reason to lift it if you won't be wheeling it. At most, you could add some spacers or V8 ZJ springs up front to eliminate the forward rake that these trucks get. Simply doing this will give it a 'lifted' look without all of the complications on a decent sized tire. -
Nice work. I need to get familiar with the brake line bending and flaring tools :ack:

But you have to deal with all the tourists... that can't drive! Its terrible. Lived in Vail for a year. I would only go back if they offered me a job. My only complaint about AK is the whole only a few hours of daylight/night certain times of the year. But seriously, Jeep parts shipping is not to bad typically (unless you order from Q-Tec). Most vendors give you free shipping on orders of $100 or more. When was the last time you bought Jeep parts for less than $100?

Tires, tires and more tires. What to buy???

The Rubicon has lockers front and rear. Even locked-in the MTR proved worthless in the local clay and loam mud. Holy Heck. I paid less than that for 5 STT's mounted and balanced with lifetime rotation/balancing. I did not shop around though. -
I began to notice the cool "Jeep Trucks" in the early 90's. The bank my father worked at had an '86 with the V6 that they used to plow lots and go on repo jobs. It was white with the orange 4x4 decals. That little truck pulled a car trailer to Texas then returned with a full size Chevy Blazer in tow. I always remember seeing the maintenance guy driving the truck to the various bank branches. The truck eventually wound up rusting out and was sold to the maintenance guy in the late 90's. He ended up junking it not to many years ago. My MJ ownership story is probably not like most here. In the late summer of 2008, I purchased a '97 Mazda Miata as my DD. While the car was a blast to drive on curvy roads, it was not conducive to my driving habits: Farm roads, rough roads, and sometimes snowy roads. 30mph was great, but I found myself driving the TJ just as much as the Miata. Went searching for an XJ to pick up as a DD. Good fuel economy, Jeep reliability, and a solid driveline. Wound up seeing a few MJ's during my XJ search and just started looking at them, plus a truck would be great to haul my ATV around as well as my crap when moving out of the apartment. Looked at a few local MJ's but was always turned away from a poor running renix. Spotted this '92 some 4 hours away that I had to look at. Made plans to meet the guy at the Columbia, MO airport since my father could fly us there in his experimental RV-7. Naturally weather rolled in so I drove. Saw the truck and had to have it. Paid for it and parked it in the Home Depot parking lot. Found a uhaul place that was open and rented a trailer. Loaded up, drove home, and have been driving it almost everyday since. Sold that Miata and couldn't be happier.

The Yahoo board was well before my time here, so it slipped my mind :help:

Just out of plain curiosity... Did you join Comanche Club before or after you owned an MJ? I joined the club before I owned an MJ. Ultimately, I had hoped to find a truck in the classifieds....no such luck. One month after joining I picked up my craigslist truck 4 hours away. Leaking power steering hose and all :ack:

Tires, tires and more tires. What to buy???

I burned through two sets of the original MTR design on my TJ. First set was the factory 245's then a set of 285's. Moisture renders the MTR worthless. Mud, water, or ice on the trail or road. MTR is decent in snow on the trail or road. I got 35K miles out of the 245 (first owner did not rotate in 12K) and 45K out of the 285 (had some tread left). Air the MTR down and it will stick to dry rocks like a fly on sticky paper. I busted the sidewall on one of the 245's and that was the only problem I had. Seemed to balance fine. Ride was ok, but I feel my current 315 Cooper STT's are much smoother on the road. Superior to the MTR in all categories besides sticking to rocks, they just don't have that fly on sticky paper action (but not bad by any means). Goodyear/Cooper still manufactures their tires in the USA :USAflag: -
Bought some brake parts for the D44 drums. Thanks.

My blackberry fits in the little tray thing perfect, so it rides there. Change goes in the ash tray. I found $0.90, some Indian beads, and a button under my carpet.

What happens when you get to McDonalds :brows:

Spence is very helpful at jeepsticker.com. Not sure if he has the side trim decals or not :dunno: Contact him and he will hook you up. His product on what will eventually be on my truck! "Jeep" sticker was spot on. Others were for fun 8)

My TJ will fire up, with a slightly slowed crank, no problem at -15 (Fahrenheit). Thank you Sears DieHard Platinum P4!!!! The MJ struggled to life this morning at -5 (Fahrenheit) but only required more starter time. Battery is kind of weak on a 75 (Fahrenheit) day. Did not drive the MJ, just had to move it so I could plow the 32" drift out of the driveway.

The RoR editor is easier to use. Blender will come into play when it comes time to render the model I believe.

I will certainly pass on your kind words 8) She actually seems to do pretty well for a high school senior, maintaining high hopes and dreams. Recently she worked on raising a bunch of money to bring in a motivational speaker to her school to speak. Here is a short news clip of the ordeal: http://www.wibw.com/localnews/headlines/70074052.html Hope you can get out of the hospital soon and get some real food

:agree: Haha. I am not into any college team at all. Just could not resist the opportunity to poke fun at the lone-star state. All in good meaning. I respect a person who is proud of where they are from :USAflag: Its not much easier being from Kansas... and no, I've never met Toto but the Tin Man is an interesting fellow. :rotfl2:

There are several hours of tutorials for you to read and learn how. They even outline the free programs you can use (ROR editor + Python and Blender). I have started, but there is a ton of information to sift through. No, I have not given up, its just slow goin'. Let us know how it goes for you. It is pretty in depth and you must have at minimum the basic knowledge of a 4-link suspension.

But they won't close :rotfl2: Grab the door strikers from the XJ. Drill a few new holes and you have new doors.

Don't do that  Caster and pinion angle nightmare. Image Not Found *Image for TJ rear, but you can mentally flip it for the front! Not sure what you mean by nose dive?

Welcome to the club Mac :waving: Be sure to start a build thread for each truck so we can all sit and drool over the pictures :clapping: -Brett
