Adding an electric fan
Oizarod115 replied to 90PioSport99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
you can see my fans here: http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5235&highlight=latest i flipped them upside down in order to avoid the stock mech. fan pulley with the larger fan motor. not sure whats going on with the larger fan :dunno: don't care... it quit workin so i pulled htem, chopped in half, and slapped the factory elec. in with the other fan that works great. been 105 all week and she stays 210 maybe 212 for a second but then back down. (my jeep has always had cooling issues, think its a clogged block :dunno: ) the rad. is easy to move forwards if you don't have a/c which most of us don't, just take out ac condenser, drill two holes, pull rubber stoppers out of old rad. mount holes, put in new holes, drop in radiator. and leave the two little rubber things with screw that come througth the brace at the header panel. they don't hold much anyways. -
if you run mozilla firefox (or any other popup blocker/toolbar) yuo can make your own buttons along the top... i have comancheclub up there but its the forums. ;) makes things easier. i like the new mainpage design, i only visit it maybe once a month or when i get on someone elses computer but i do like the idea of a refresher.

haha, i was actally thinking about the dodge minivan engine in the newer jeeps but now that i think about it that one was pretty funny so I'm gonna shut up and let the joke ride. :D the two aren't related are they? i thought yours was a camaro motor?
-
i don't care much, as far as jeep goes the end of the TJ and WJ marks the end of anything i would wheel. and i don't like either of those that much either. albeit i have seen a BADarse WJ on 37s with D44/D60 and 5.9 and coils. 8) and rubicons are friggin sweet

wow. thats all i have to say... these scale 4x4 rcs are SICK man.
-
idk anything about frames but most jeeps that were offered with diesels didn't sell that many with the diesel... it'd have to have a gas option engine... and hopefully not the 3.8  anyone have pics of the gladiatior concept? i don't remember which one it is
-
people hated on the XJ that it wasn't a real jeep... just a grocery getter... :dunno: i've seen some badass xj's and we're not far from them ;)

the corporation knows how to make a truck i doubt they'd use a 2.8v6 in a fullsize. anything they make has to compete with the other brands and it can't do that if its underpowered

Adding an electric fan
Oizarod115 replied to 90PioSport99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i used 10g IIRC and I'm not sure bout your other question, it was my first relay-wiring experience, and its worked fine so far i did have to move the radiator 1" forwards to clear the fan motor (yeah, the one that quit working :headpop: ) but i believe ford taurus fans don't need much/if any help fitting -
hahaha, he payed to have a 2.8 rebuilt... :D :thwak:
-
that article is at least a year old though hopefully its still in the works
-
yeah, ive used chains before a slow steady pull is the key with a strap you really have to snatch it, cause they don't do pulls unless you buy an actual tow-strap instead of a snatch-strap

Adding an electric fan
Oizarod115 replied to 90PioSport99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i run dual electric fans by a single switch/relay... it was supposed to be like that temporarily but I'm so used to doing it now it doesnt bother me a bit. plus you'll want to turn the fans off completely at speeds of 45+ since they arent necessary. any front wheel drive car is going to have beefy electric fans the ford taurus is the best option though, i have intrepid fans and the one iwth the big motor died on me. :dunno: i replaced it with the stock electric fan just to get through the rest of the summer but its been 105 every day and she stays right about 210* so i guess its workin' alright. ford taurus dual electric setups pull 4500+ CFM according to go-jeep -
i think you have to change out all the seals and stuff in order to run r134a :dunno: never tried

automatic/pilot bearing
Oizarod115 replied to jeepthing07's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks thats the info i was looking for! i kind of figured it was going to have to come out now i have to drill and tap holes in thes spacer to pull the bugger out. we rented a pilot bearing puller from the auto parts store... you pay deposit, pull bearing... return tool, they give you back ALL your money 8) -
automatic/pilot bearing
Oizarod115 replied to jeepthing07's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
we swapped in a 4.0 to my bro's truck that came from a manual and we had to pull the bearing but didnt have to put one on (out of a BA10 truck into an AW4 truck) -
haha, let me get this straight... you bought a red 1989 MJ with a 4.0 from a 1997 TJ swapped in before you bought the truck. this world is pretty small.. (check my sig. line) :D  i run the recommended 89 cheapo- champions for the record.

wow man! thats looking like a good ground up resto project.
-
i wasnt planning on it since it isnt just a swap over parts thing. cause i figure ill replace most of the junk in there anyways when i swap it.
