yeah, 1990s had the switch so the change must've been with the HO I'm a biiig fan of manual on the street, (love mine) but I'm going slushbox for all kinds of wheeling reasons. didnt know that the switch changed the actual converter "settings" for lack of a better phrase, interesting to know, tim won't care though, his B&M cooler keeps it nice and cool

TJ buckets in a MJ?????
Oizarod115 replied to CWLONGSHOT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ive taken my XJ bucket o ut many a time and checked out the mounting on it (MJ bench brackets) from what i saw looked like with soem welding i could drop that seat about 2 1/2 inches if necessary and move it back considerably. that hasnt been necessary, but i think you can chop it enough to get the TJ buckets where you want them. -

don't worry bout rustys... snatch this deal up. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2950 with the RE drop brackets you'll flex like crazy, run stock CAs... and not have to worry bout DW. or rustys. other stuf... shocks, and springs, for 150 bucks... GET ON IT MAN! -
ooooh aaaahhh. more.

it just shifts earlier not necessarily any more slip, just revvs lower. i know the jeeps without the switch always have worse mileage. but i suppose that could be an HO thing? i know moms (MOMs, not a racecar driving mom, a normal mom driver) XJ 2wd stock auto 4.0 pulls ~15mpg TOPS whereas my brothers XJ on 33s with 3.55s never got under 17-18 range. and now its killer with 35s and 4.88s

best lift for the money
Oizarod115 replied to 84scrambler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
seconded. longest wait we've ever had was 5 days for a 3000 dollar order that I'm sure wasn't just stuff they had lying around. usually they get stuff out here (to GA from AL) next day if we call before 2. some people have some horror stories about them though. -
5spd to AW4 shifting ideas
Oizarod115 replied to Oizarod115's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well see, i would use an aftermarket steering wheel and pay 600$ for some paddle shifters... buuut, i don't drive a honda. my stepbrother had a little import with those wheels and i can't stand those things, theyre out of round and small. 600$ = 1/2 of my lift. and my income=part time. i think I'm gonna go with the game controller one. I'm especially leery about a manual because 4 out of 5 times i see a jeep rollin in a video its because they were tryin the threefooted dance at a bad angle and lost it. does that make sense? or am i :chillin: -
thats the part of your truck that you took off of its "frame" and axles and such and put on your chevy frame. :brows: :D oh yah, WELCOME! i think you are girl #2 but girl #1 didnt speak english i don't think.

used stuff is cheap. just need LCAs and UCAs but those arent as necessary. trackbar, probly build your own sway bar disconnects, shocks, SOA rear and pray that you don't get the wobbles -
gas mileage is better in comfort. seems to be alot better, like 2-3mpg better. but power does have a more firm shift.

OTK steering, warning: rusty's offroad inside.
Oizarod115 replied to Oizarod115's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yeah, the kit is available with TREs although i don't know if they are 1/2tons or stocker stuff... here's the quote from rusty's which sounds like they think heims are awesome... i don't like them: "We use the highest quality 3/4" greasable heims with a 5/8" hole. Score, High Desert, Corr, Scca, just about every type of race vehicle uses heim steering. For those that would rather have tie-rod ends, all of our steering conversions are available with high quality tie-rod ends as well. The quality heim joints we use are stronger than tie-rod ends and if greased regularly should last as long as tie-rod ends, even on daily driven vehicles." -
OME shocks for MJ's ?
Oizarod115 replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
...i thought that was what shocks were supposed to do? i thought they compressed slowly to cushion impacts and such and that the suspension pulled them back out after compression? or are steering stabilizers different than shocks? -

no ladyfriends, (well... no ladyfriends that can say anythign about my money flow) mom doenst mind it, i keep telling her... if I'm putting all my money into my jeep i can't be getting into trouble elsewhere can i? :brows: but she worries like crazy that we're gonna flip or something. matter of fact, she likes old jeeps, she loves her baby 95 2wd XJ it rolled 200,000 this weekend, i threw it a interstate-side b-day party. if only the pic would upload. -

OTK steering, warning: rusty's offroad inside.
Oizarod115 replied to Oizarod115's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
basically just a regular TRE steering with beefy rods and drag link to the knuckle instead of tie-rod right? thats what the JCR steering is, so i guess ill just run with that, is theer any advantage to running over the knuckle like the rusty's kit? -

Oizarod115 replied to Oizarod115's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
they have the kit available with TRE's instead of heims. that was the route i would go, i know ive read that heims die on streets pretty quick. not to mention flexing. ill search for casper... I'm just looking to have a steering setup that will not cry when i lift her more than 6" cuase i know inchitis will occur then. -
http://rustysoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=rustys&Product_Code=OTK01&Category_Code=ste i know its rusty's and alot of people don't think to highly of them... but what do you think of the kit's basic ideas, i could get a shop to build me custom steering with the same ideas for probably a little less money. anything that would point you away from this kit? plan on running 33 then 35s after that, has to hold up to big rocks and some mud. TIA, -nick ps. here's some pics:

I'm not in college, but i didn't lock my truck the other night and got in to discover my cb's wires pulled out of where they had been covered up (freakin A$$hole couldn't just unplug the damned thing and stolen it... Noooooo, he had to rip the #)(^*)@#($&* wires out... it took alot of time/effort to wire that crap up nice. so yea, 40$ cb gone... 200 dollar 6x9 speakers in separate little mini-boxes with wires running to stock rear locations... still there? 150$ cd player... still there? wth was this guy smokin?
