  1. agreed, my brother is running an XJ at 6+ inches on 35s with the JCR steering, definately has the lag spot CW referred to. ill tell him about the new spacers. the steering performs awesome, no problems at all yet, and we've done a good bit of rockcrawling, and some muddy slippery trails on it as well. AND JCR is DEFINATELY a good company to work with. they mis-measured tim's bumper and offered to ship it back, fix/replace it and ship it to him FOR FREE. but he opted for their steering at 1/2 price cause its not that noticeable and his steering bent the day after he got the bumper :brows:
  2. actually, i just took a look online and it looks like i mightve been wrong in my assumptions... not sure though if you measure your SB auto 4x4 shaft, ill measure my SB manual 4x4 shaft, and we can compare. but i got a definate 24" for AX15 and BA10 and 22.5" for AX5 (thats the tranny length. from novak-adapt) and i wasn't able to find a definate AW4 length.
  3. yeah, thats sorta what i had thought about, i figure ill swap my clock panel (to the right of the instruments but left of the radio) with mums, cause hers has no electronics in it. then put all the indicator lamps and main switches that i need there. or something of that nature. i already have buckets, but no console yet.
  4. what a crazy storm! things like that never happen in GA. well, not this part of GA, west ga gets some crazy weather.
  5. i thought so but i didn't want to give ill-advice
  6. ...that would have to mean that your shock is fully extended at ride height. just sitting on the ground it is fully extended and your axle cannot move another inch down?
  7. arent manual gearboxes shorter? meaning that a 4wd manual tranny d-shaft would be longer? i know my brother has a AW4 and i have a BA10 and his front d-shaft is a good 2-3inches longer than mine, meaning (were he to have a MJ) his rear d-shaft would be shorter. (we have same engine/t-case.)
  8. what year is your jeep? it should have a disconnect front axle, which means that when yuo're in 2wd the long-side axle shaft is 2 peices and it disconnects so that only the inner peice is spinning, meaning that the right tire is not connected to the diff unless you are in 4wd (or your disconnect is not functioning/disabled) if you have a working disconnect it will not affect steering at all.. technically it shouldnt affect it either way since it is only meant to lock when torque is applied. but i haven't done it myself.
  9. well i got the response a minute ago, the not 600$ paddle shifters are intended to be mounted to the steering column to avoid them moving at all, and he also said it would take ALOT of work to get a clean install on them. so my next idea would be an XJ full center console, cover the e-brake area and put the joystick there. just gotta figure out where i want things i guess.
  10. it can handle 33" tires for about 2 wheeling trips. (not rocks) as for what needs to be longer I'm not sure besides track-bar.
  11. You can get a 15" rim to fit. It involves an angle grinder and LESS than 2" backspacing. Alternatively you can steal some knuckles from a ford 1/2 ton D44 and use them to run a more normal brake setup. why buy a 1ton axle and put 1/2ton stuff on it? that 44 install kit looks pretty nice, what year/model fords work with that again? i might have to do that.
  12. he knows it all, i swear i can't wait for this man's book.
  13. glad/mildly suprised that no-one has tried to post up their amature shots of their significant other :nanner: haha i suck at taking pictures. so ill just go back to my corner and look at yalls.
  14. yeah, but there has to be some way i can wire them up so they won't get all wrapped up... otherwise he wouldnt sell them. idk, maybe ill pm him
  15. nice is she 4x4?
  16. well the thing is.. i want a nice shifting mechanism... not a bunch of switches. i don't have a problem wiring, and know how to wire it, but paddle shifters or an up/down joystick would be really nice.

  18. you mean like all of these? www.awshifting.com (thats brettM off our forum and naxja and pirate and everywhere possible.) does anyone know how to wire up paddle shifters so that the wires won't get entanglesd all the time? obviously offroad you do alot of wheelturning, and i don't want to have my shifters coming unplugged.
  19. the only 44 front with 5 on 4.5 is the rubicon axle. like he said. other than that its 6 lug or dana30. but i bet you could make a D30 just as strong as a rubi44 with the amount of money it'd cost.
  20. nice gracias
  21. that was incredibly awesome. they landed one hardcore hilux.
  22. yeah, but what about TPS, and all those little nifty things that control shift points. you'd have to have one of those too.
  23. i've decided to go with an AW4 tranny instead of an AX15 from the past couple wheeling trips ive been on. my brothers jeep wheels so awesome, and i love how the auto performs offroad, so I'm thinking definately automatic. the question is: I'm gonna have to do alot of manual-auto shifting since I'm not wiring in a TCU. any opinions on which one of BrettMs (www.awshifting.com) shifters to use. can anyone tell me how to wire paddle shifters so the wires don't get entangled when i cycle the wheel?
  24. the local shop up the street is trying to get rid of some unimog portals.. wanted me to buy them for the MJ  haha, he doesnt want them in his shop anymore. BUY THOSE!!!!
  25. hey pete, where did you source those arms? and for how much? ive got the wobbles, and i might as well upgrade while I'm replacing them. (rumour has it that replacing the stock bushings doesnt work well? is that true? )
