Unintentional Project Mj **update 4/30/2013!!!**
sinkrun replied to luvmyglock's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Welcome and good work the welds don't look bad to me  -
My door striker had been loose from broken welds and I just kept ignoring it well now its MIA. It fell down in the hole the metal is cracked around it as shown. If I take the plastic panel off inside can I get at to pound the area flat again and recover the section that fell out? Should I attempt to weld the old one back in or is the metal to far gone and require a section out of a Cherokee. I bought a mig with gas but have not used it yet and need to learn how but not sure if I should I try with this or should I have a shop do it as I know it has to line up right. Anyone have any advice? Image Not Found

Ok I have to see pics of the mouse trap thing thats awesome!

That sucks I would sit up at night what else do you have to do and it would be worth it but thats just me? They also make driveway alarms fairly cheep could set it up anywhere also some motion lights will turn a light on inside or alarm so you can go out and catch them.

I am having the same issue as you and was looking at this guys bars as I was wanting to do the same thing to get away from the factory set up http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/cart/index ... cts_id=492 Somewhere on his site he states that this bar thats for 1" to 6" will work on stock but the bar rubs the diff cover is the only issue and the cover can be bent in with no problems since the area it gets bent in has lots of clearance behind it.

Anyone have any good tricks to get a rear valve cover on a 98 3.0 caravan off. Gives me a head ache just looking at it.

sources for new rockers?
sinkrun replied to lexluthier72's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I bought a CTC rocker for my XJ and it was the first rocker I ever did. It fit ok but not great from a couple feet away it looks fine. The end near the fender was open it had tabs bent over. We made a end for it and welded it in. I would love to see some closeups of the rocker fit at the fender end to see what they did and how nice they made it as I bought floors and rockers for my MJ and plan on getting into it next week. -
You have to do what ya have to do just yesterday my wife said its time for her XJ to go. Wants to get something better on gas she drives 60 miles a day at least.
-
Hey Jim, any year works all the same but I just ordered one thanks though.
-
I may have them on a old TB I will try to get them out later this week as its not here its about 20 miles away at my dads.

Anyone have a XJ factory rear spring shackle mine is rotted thin and broke. I can get a new one but thought someone here may have a good one handy and could use a few bucks. Need shipped to PA 16680.
-
Thanks for the offer you will most likely have to ship it I am near Penn State in the middle of the state just need the Passenger side and its worse than I thought so it would need to be a 2 door to cover it all. I will post a pic of the area I have not cut or ground it yet though. The girl told me $10.00 at the PNP and when I got there the guy said $60.00. Also need a good track bar mount also if you want to part with it. Also these are the cheapest yards around that I went to. I am thinking theres not much demand for cherokee quaters since every one there still had them but not much anything else on them just empty shells. You think they would be happy to sell some stuff. One yard I used for years that was great on prices I called first for this and hes closing the railroad land he leased ran and they will not renew he actually checked a few he had but they were allready trashed by the fork truk moving them around for the crusher.
-
Ok the greed at local yards around here is crazy so far the one PNP wanted 60.00 for the metal and the other wanted $80.00 and he would torch it out would not remove it any other way. He said what would you want to pay I said $25.00 he threw a fit and said it would cost more than that in gas to cut it off. I am REALLY getting sick and tired of trying to keep this truck going its not just today its all the time trying and begging to get parts. I am really considering selling it :fs1:

I have a low mile white 98 also that the rear doors and hatch are rustd pretty bad if you part it let me know.

I had several dogs growing up three since I have been married and we lost one a few months back. This guy here is just a pure goof of a dog and the best personality one we have ever had. We recently got our dream house and huge yard which is now fenced in and it just seems empty with the two so we are looking for another. This is our Goof, And yes this is how he sleeps most of the time.

I buy my cutters from this guy on ebay very good stuff and cheap compared to retail welding shops. http://www.ebay.com/itm/380329558913?ss ... 1438.l2649

Yes spot welds drilled and then the panels is pealed off I am no pro but have been teaching myself the last year. You tube and searching google can find some videos not on a Comanche but same idea. I am about a week from cutting out a section from above the wheel well (if I can find a patch) there will be some spot welds if I can get to it i will take some pictures also taking off the rockers lots of spot welds there to.

Remember you will need to move and weld the perches on the XJ rears.
