  7. just read this thread ive done a bit of welding and what i see with you welds need to be redone trust me, i welded a sled together in shop class that had 3x more welds on it and looked exactly like your welds, if that can break, your welds will definantly break, my problem was i used no gas when i should have also, my step father is an ironworker and has been for over 30 years i showed him your pictures, he says there is no penetration at all, all that is is the metal from the arc welder globbing on the outside of your metal, watch this, and read all of this before you weld any more, PLEASE!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTwEoFw4Yic http://www.esabna.com/EUWeb/AWTC/Lesson1_1.htm I'm saying all of this to help you/make sure you are safe
  8. first time i ever seen one was when i was helping a friend of mine move out was a 86 2wd 2.5l 4 banger, thought nothing of it at that time since it was covered in snow, few weeks later my dad brought it home for about $130'ish, since my buddy was moving he gave it away for a steal of a price, i used to make jokes about it all the time because we did a soup can muffle patch, when ever he had stuff in the back of the truck it sounded diffrent, going from a mazda, a semi, a ford, and even a motorcycle, later on i got it as a shop project, replacing all the necessary components, had good times sitting in it in shop class blasting disturbed and metallica :D been hooked ever since, damn addiction first truck ive owned, and not the last mj, planning on saving as many from the crushers as possible, since i got this truck, i don't think i ever ever ever ever want to get anything besides a jeep ever! a j-10 truck or an mj suites me perfectly :D
  9. one way to tell if it is a dana 35 without the help is, crawl under the truck, and if you see a 35 underneath the axle in the middle, then its a dana 35 :D

  17. looks like your going to have some fun :D makesure to grind/salvage as much of your pans before you start to cut them out :)
  18. could it be carbon build up on the pistons? i know my father owned a 66 Bonneville ambulance (yes the ambulance used to haul out the injured motorists on the saltflats) he would bomb down the roads in it, and one day it it had this "backfire" which blew out all of the carbon buildup on the pistons and the rpms went right up and ran like a bat out of hell after, also my sisters bf's grandmas car had the same thing happen to it lol there was a black spot of suit on her driveway for every cylinder
  19. any one know where to get a new seal kit for an external slave cyl?
  20. lol u didnt use the site i told u to use? Country : USA Manufacturer: Jeep (USA) Type: TRUCK Model: Hinterantrieb COMANCHE 6`BOX Transmission/transfercase: 5-Speed, Manual Transmission, 2WD Engine 2,5 litres, I-4, central injection Control digit: Has passed check Year: 1988 Plant: Toledo, Ohio Serial number 089849
  21. found a nice donor vehicle at my local auto yard, pulled out the master cyl and clutch line since they didnt disconect from eachother, going to be going back there to give my manche a facelift, and some bucket seats :D only cherokee there, but also 2 other good finds, a grand cherokee and grand wagoneer from the 70's the cherokee even has powerchairs out with the old in with the new ran into a problem tho the bolt pattern from the old one is different than the new one had to think, then i decided to do a little modifying master cyl out of the way put the old gasket counterclockwise (bolt spacing was the same) and then marked and drilled some holes :D checked to see if it would fit i think its about to install it, but before that i need to seal the holes, took some gasket maker and plugged them then mounted the master cyl next thing i had to do, was modify my old clutch pedal, i forgot to grab the pedal after that i bled my slave cyl, had amazing pressure i was so excited, getting ready to install the tranmsision again was draining what was left of the old weatherized gear oil, doing some touch us on the cover, a bit of wd-40 does help man it was grimey gotta love this stuff makes everything slide right into place hmm is this a familiar site to any of you? well i installed my transmission, slid right in, had it all put together again in 15 min, hop in, start the truck up, and guess what, no clutch again !!!!!!!!
  22. heyy about that promise.... :D cmon your killing me, so how did pulling your engine go? i noticed you output shaft and throwout bearing have a bit of rust on them, hopefully you can get rid of it with some sandpaper, is your tranny stick or auto? if it is stick make sure when you get your new clutch from a local auto parts store like princess auto or napa, do not order it online, and compare your old one to you new one since there are 2 different clutches for the manche, and the guys at napa(or lordco) will tell you that a 9 11/16 clutch is a 9 1/8 clutch (lmao i still can't get over that guy) EDITS bah i'm an idiot of course it is stick if it has a throwout bearing, never mind my stick/auto question
  23. so what did you find out? i want to know as well :D
  24. if you want to know what year your truck is, put your 14 digit jeep vin into this jeep vin decoder http://www.jeep.avtograd.ru/vin/vin_en.asp
  25. update for today, replaced the u joints after a while the hammer with the soccet didnt work so we used a vice with this as the final product :P started cleaning out the bell housing new clutch kit :D getting ready for put together installing and testing clutch all going good until no pressure in my slave cyl found a broken flex line will be getting a hold of a replacement line hopefully, lordco says they are discontinued, so we are trying to get a hold of jeep. otherwise we are going to make our own line, which won't be too hard, we have a flex line bender and flaring tool. will update when more progress is made
