  1. lol not even close, depends on where u live, where i am winter is just under 1/3 of the year and gets down to -20 celcius to +45 celcuis, where i used to live, was -50 celcius to +25 celcius and 2/3 winter of the year, so rule of thumb, the higher u go, the colder it gets, we don't live in igloos either xP and nor do we have polar bears as pets, lol sorry hijacked thread
  2. well upon working on the truck some more, i have tried bleeding the clutchyesterday and there is air still getting in, so we checked the seals on my slave cyl and they are good, I'm thinking it has to be the last bit of old flex line, i am going to try to install a double ended male connector to connect the single piece new line to the slave cyl, and if that doesnt work I'm going to have to replace my replacement slave cyl xP will update with pics soon, i have finally found a good name for my project, the never ending story xP
  3. MAN, get some NEW glasses, a wire wheel will NOT CUT IT!!! Forget about using a wire wheel!!! A reg 1/4" cutting wheel used to clean the steel is better than that wire wheel!!! Get yourself a couple flap discs!!!! CW agreed, saves alot of time, instead of hours and hours on end of sanding down the inside of my truck i only had about 3 1/2 hours of grinding
  4.  plug welds are you friends, make lots of them and they will be very good friends :)
  5. ok, so what would make a transmission engage in neutral? when i move the stick to make sure its in neutral it is, but the splines where the yolk on the shaft is still spinning?
  6. eagle that was me, i was just going over things that could be making it not work, on further analysis i found that the transmission was engaging while it was in neutral. is that a problem with over torqued clutch?
  7. will a 9 1/8 clutch for an 87 jeep work for an 86?

  10. i was just thinking the same thing, I'm glad you think it would look good in my truck too  jk omg your driving me crazy, you HAVE to record it first starting up plz plz plz, i want to hear that baby purr
  11. its not that we are criticizing you, because we are not, we are looking out for you and your safety, we want to see you succeed, that is why we have replied so abruptly, we just don't want to anything to happen to you in your mj that we could have prevented by giving you some advice, because you are part of the comanche club family and family looks out for family right? ask cw longshot for some frame rot/repair advice, I'm sure he will gladly help you you can also look on page 28 or 29 of his thread to see what he did, your projects interest me, so i want to see how this turns out, best of luck to you man
  12. ok sounds good, but please still watch and read the stuff i posted
  13. just read this thread ive done a bit of welding and what i see with you welds need to be redone trust me, i welded a sled together in shop class that had 3x more welds on it and looked exactly like your welds, if that can break, your welds will definantly break, my problem was i used no gas when i should have also, my step father is an ironworker and has been for over 30 years i showed him your pictures, he says there is no penetration at all, all that is is the metal from the arc welder globbing on the outside of your metal, watch this, and read all of this before you weld any more, PLEASE!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTwEoFw4Yic http://www.esabna.com/EUWeb/AWTC/Lesson1_1.htm I'm saying all of this to help you/make sure you are safe
  14. first time i ever seen one was when i was helping a friend of mine move out was a 86 2wd 2.5l 4 banger, thought nothing of it at that time since it was covered in snow, few weeks later my dad brought it home for about $130'ish, since my buddy was moving he gave it away for a steal of a price, i used to make jokes about it all the time because we did a soup can muffle patch, when ever he had stuff in the back of the truck it sounded diffrent, going from a mazda, a semi, a ford, and even a motorcycle, later on i got it as a shop project, replacing all the necessary components, had good times sitting in it in shop class blasting disturbed and metallica :D been hooked ever since, damn addiction first truck ive owned, and not the last mj, planning on saving as many from the crushers as possible, since i got this truck, i don't think i ever ever ever ever want to get anything besides a jeep ever! a j-10 truck or an mj suites me perfectly :D
  15. one way to tell if it is a dana 35 without the help is, crawl under the truck, and if you see a 35 underneath the axle in the middle, then its a dana 35 :D

  17. hey there, a while ago a new member posted a build thread for his thread, he is in mexico and has the craziest suspension i have ever seen on a commanche!! the suspension is blue, and the transmission firewall is cut into strips, thats as descriptive as i can get, i remember pete posting on the thread but i cannot find it in his posts can any one help me out and retrieve this for me?

  23. looks like your going to have some fun :D makesure to grind/salvage as much of your pans before you start to cut them out :)
  24. could it be carbon build up on the pistons? i know my father owned a 66 Bonneville ambulance (yes the ambulance used to haul out the injured motorists on the saltflats) he would bomb down the roads in it, and one day it it had this "backfire" which blew out all of the carbon buildup on the pistons and the rpms went right up and ran like a bat out of hell after, also my sisters bf's grandmas car had the same thing happen to it lol there was a black spot of suit on her driveway for every cylinder
