  1. swaping the d44 in at the same time would be a good idea if your going for larger tires such as 35's as for the year i am not to certian, maybe another member could chip in on that one? soa vs sua soa: more articulation highway & offroad handling improved lots of lift for cheap clearance increased exponentially but there is more body roll sua: lower COG no axle hop and no axle wrap more durable due to less torque wrap and for the level ness, optical illusion, i havent been able to get a good picture on level ground, if you look at this pic closely you can see that the rear tire is significantly lower than the front (my drive way is uphill :P due to the many mountains where i live) edits, my truck isnt level due to soa which got me 7" in rear, and only 4.5 in the front.
  2. i personally like the zone offroad 4.5" lift, http://zoneoffroad.com/product?ki=486&gr=-1 you can go soa if you'd like if you do get the xj lift same lift, $50 cheaper but different AAL (add a leaf) i did it to mine you'll get around 6-8" of lift tho here is what 4.5" and soa in rear will look like and max recommended size for it is 32" tires, i have mine with 35's with no problems (pic #2) a track bar keeps your axle from wandering around, one of the most important linkages on your front axle IMO most lift kits come with a relocation guide for it, you need your track bar and drag link parallel to prevent bump stear, and death wobble, if you do SOA, youll need to calculate your pinion angle for even ujoint wear which will need to be incorporated into the spring perches, or you can shim the axle to change it as well for SOA you need to get weld on spring perches you can reuse your shock mounts, you can leave em in the stock spot (welded/ubolts) or you can flip em upside down for more down stroke of the shock. it is recommended to get extended brake lines and your drive shaft will need to be extended, mine needed to be shortened because i converted mine to 4wd thats about it, if theres anything i havent covered can some one chip in? here is a before and after of stock to 4.5" and soa
  3. nothing wrong with a 2wd, ive had 3, converted my most recent to 4wd, not hard 8)
  4. youll need to relocate your trackbar and possibly get a longer drive shaft for 4.5" go for the 4.5

I am running 3.55 on D44 + D30, There is a slight drop in power, nothing too much tho, Still can crawl from a deadstop on a hill climb, I am using an ax 15 transmission, And it is 4.5" of lift in the front, 7ish in the rear  I have a slight rub on my left lca at full crank left, But that will be fixed with some wheel spacers :)
