shouldn't be a valve inside, just a plain open elbow. blowby (gasses escaping past the rings) is super common on the 4.0s. mine was so bad that I added a catch can between the valve cover and air filter to collect the oil.

if it's a 4.0, there's no check valve in a CCV system, just a tube and elbow. the 2.5 has a PCV with the valve. if you haven't cleaned out the little line running to the valve cover, it might very well be plugged and the cause of the gasses going out the big hose (which is supposed to be fresh air coming in to the valve cover)

use independent power to check the ground and independent groud to check for power. check for power at each step in that chart, including both sides of the fuse.

is there power? is there ground?

that's why parts-rigs are a viable path.

I ran 5.25 components in the doors and an 8" overpowered sub in a little box and loved it. buy quality and feed it power and you'll be happy.

just saw that Steve is taking orders again if anyone was in need. 3 months too late for the project truck in my drive though.

WD40 is not to be used on anything. ever. it can dissolve petroleum products (like other greases and oil based paints) and eventually just "evaporates" and makes things bad again. there are proper lubes you should own and administer to problems. a can of spray lithium grease is my go-to for most common squeaky things. dry lube is another for things like window channels where regular grease would eventually just smear all over the glass.
