random truck I saw on ebay
  3. or you can work with the new clocking for better ground clearance. I've got a TJ AX-15 in mine. pretty sure the MJ and XJ will have the same clocking. it's the YJs and TJs that have less.
  4. if anyone is feeling super frisky one day, all those facebook photos need to be snagged off of FB and reloaded here in the appropriate thread. there's like 80 of them.
  5. those dudes are so shy I'm shocked you got a pic! I know they are around, but have only spotted one in the last decade of north georgia livin'.
  6. sorta. some transmission had a 21 spline output while others had a 23. the AX-15 had 23 so you'll need a t-case from any Jeep from 90s that wasn't a 2.5L. There are a TON of Libertys i then yards these days. I bet it's not had to make one of their 242s work.
  7. neat! can you throw together a writeup for the DIY page?
  8. We have a member in the vendors section of the classifieds that bores out throttle bodies a Renix era full gauge cluster will swap right in and give you a tach too. no wiring needed. just swap the 2 sending units and go!
  9. there's a PDF factory shop manual in the link in my sig. that should show you how to remove the fender.
  10. I've been on an blues kick lately. the old stuff in particular.
  11. check your intake manifold bolts for proper torque. they have been known to become a bit loose and allow a leak.
  12. Even though it's a late model engine, the HO generally refers to the 91+ Chrysler operating system. Personally I would treat it as a renix and leave it alone except for some minor upgrades. high idle could be a vacuum leak or a sensor going bad. there should be some sensor diagnostics in the link in my sig. also in that link is Cruiser's MJ tips. do all of them that apply. it addresses most all the shortcomings and age-related issues with our old Jeeps.
  13. how many miles on the truck? It really appears that the previous owner blew the engine somehow and swapped in what he could find. these trucks are like legos.
  14. what you will want depends entirely on what you plan to do with it.
  15. jeepfest in Toledo
  16. converting tot he open system is straight forward. should be a thread about it in the link in my sig. what is the reason for changing the intake/exhaust?
  17. every time I see pics my heart jumps just like when I pulled up that random car cover
  18. a little heads up would have been nice, Chrysler. I can't plan a trip north that fast. But it would appear they brought the ThunderChief out of hiding for the show.
  19. I passed by a tacoma today that had one like that with all the gear to go with it. it more or less makes a giant shelf with lots of attachment points. i assume this one is supposed to have a roof rack attached to the top? maybe a tent?
  20. have you tried pulling off the fender and bending the individual mounting points?
  21. there are scores upon scores of project threads to peruse in the projects forum the key is to identify what you want to do with the truck and work backwards to figure out what parts you'll need to do that.
  22. yeah, 86 was a... weird year. thankfully they figured it all out in 87 and gave the overdrives 4.10s.
  23. definitely has that popular overlanding vibe to it.
  24. has the donor truck been added to the VIN registry yet?
