the ol' hand crank counter display is... let's say "less than ideal" for determining what any particular oil does when at operating temp and the gears are spinning at a million rpms. as I understand it, 10w30 (or is it the 40?) is actually quite close to 75w90. engine and gear oils just have different nomenclature scales or some such thing. if it's good enough for Mopar to suggest it, it's good enough for me. but it's certainly not any better than the redline so it's all good no matter what is chosen.

with a properly running engine it should be able to get past 70 with either 4.10s or 4.56 on 33s. the key here is what it feels like when starting from a stop. a bit more gearing will make the Jeep feel alive and powerful.

it can be, but it's not so bad when I think of all the peoples' lives out there that are far worse. My body's plethora of foibles is merely quite irritating/annoying (although the cfs can be crippling some days). I still have all my fingers/limbs/eyes and I can walk and talk, so I can't complain too much. as long as I can still manage to help out others with their lives, I figure my life is pretty good.

I can sympathize. I suffer from Raynauld's disease and my grandma had a condition that caused her entire body to tense up and shut down if she got too cold. but I also suffer with hyperhidrosis and I easily burn under the sun so the south doesn't suit me very well either.

RPMs are not a straight-up indication of MPGs. the 2.5L/auto came with 4.56 gears stock.

less-awesome beds are easy to come by the shims change from bed to bed and body to body so it might take a bit of effort to get the body lines lined up right.

I mean, yes? I've only had access to the southern yards for the last decade and they are super nice. super duper nice. but finding a lifted ZJ is something that could happen up north too. some days you get lucky

stopped by a couple junkyards on my way to pick up that bed and scored a WJ t-case skid and hooks, plus ZJ 1" OME coils, rear ZJ Blistein shocks (likely an XJ guy snagged the fronts), a JKS adj trackbar, gask tank skid, and fancy swaybar links. I also grabbed the WJ gastank skid before realizing that they ALL came with it (that first yard only had the one fully loaded WJ so I kinda made an assumption it was part of the skidplate group). lol. maybe I can still sell it to a northerner with a rusty one.

that's a lot of IFs. but I'm used to making plans with lots of IFs. we shall see. being so close to the south, he honestly might be better off doing a road trip to a junkyard.

finding people in need was never the problem. getting the beds to them is the issue. that's a TON of driving for the money I can make off a single bed. so far I've sold 2 and both were on a trip north that was happening anyway. but I have hopes that the big uhaul trailer can fit 4 and that might make a dedicated trip worthwhile.

I should probably change the title of the thread. these pics are the best I can do until I get some different lighting outside. it's a dark shape with very bright surroundings. this corner edge seems to be the worst spot. very straight and clean bed. I might hang on to this one.

If you're worried about MPGs, don't daily a lifted brick on 33s. the 4.10s are... tolerable. Nothing more exciting than that. I only ran them because my budget didn't allow for a regear. I still want a bit more oomph to get going from a start.

I have 4.10s for my 33s and wish I had 4.56. But it was the deepest factory gears for the Ford axles so I went with it.

I just wrapped up watching the 3rd part of a series done on the aftermath of the attacks with regard to the ships. those workers do not get enough credit for their efforts. truly insane the amount of work it took to get Pearl up and running again this is part 1:
