  1. lots of good stuff in an 86 MJ, but not so much the drivetrain. be sure to snag MJ-only items like the rear window and E-brake pedal.

    Tool Talk

just bought a new junkyarding ratchet from HF. 1/4" on one end, 3/8" on the other. it's a two-fer no idea how tough it is yet, but I'm generally not all that hard on ratchets since I use little breaker bars or the 1/2" ratchet whenever possible.
  3. the half-a-Jeep of course. right now I've got a boring DuraLiner. or is it a PendaLiner? meh. doesn't really matter.
  4. the ratios could be anything. 86 was a weird year without the typical standardization.
  5. we tried that a few years ago. turns out the wasps like to go under the deck and pop up inside the netting.
  6. yup, now is the season for relaxing in the GA outdoors
  7. this morning's earworm.
  8. WJ arms are better
  9. if anyone was curious as to what to get me for Xmas. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Comanche-1980s-90s-OEM-Bed-Liner-7-1-2-x-5-3-Hard-Shell-4x4-Pick-Up/203348690755?hash=item2f5886c743%3Ag%3A9wQAAOSw~gJgdyuI&LH_ItemCondition=4|10
  10. tack it in place?
  11. it'll never be as tight as a Ferrari. just gotta make it the best we can and move on.
  12. yup, gotta do that to mine for sure

    $27,000.000

(except with the grille rightside up)
  15. find a local automotive upholstery shop and ask them about recovering them.
  16. there are automotive sealants that I would prefer. silicone has this nasty habit of interfering with anything else adhering in the future.
  17. when you find yourself in starwars land, be sure to try the ronto wrap. it's fantastic. the breakfast version is even better (stops at 11am)
  18. drill a hole, use a grommet, seal it up with the proper stuff. be sure to seal the mounting holes/screws too. avoid household silicone or caulk if you can.

    Whats in your cab

offcenter really isn't an issue unless you're deep in the mud. just make sure you're attaching to the frame at as many points as possible like the factory did with their hooks. it's just sheetmetal after all. does anyone still make those front 2" hitches? that would tie in both sides and give a center location while retaining the stock bumper. my tow strap is a shmucky 30k I got at a local store (Lowes?). just make sure you care for it properly. don't store it out in the sunshine, and clean it if it gets all muddy. when grit gets in them they die by a thousand cuts.

nothing with hooks. a normal 20k tow strap should be sufficient for anything that's not a mud hole. you will need anchors points on your truck of course.
  21. with my truck, pressure-when-off-but-none-when-running was a bad booster
  22. impressive improvement!
