  1. More often than not, the power-then-no-power problems I've experienced have been caused by poor connection at the battery terminals. Even ones that looked just fine would simply not let enough juice flow. A good cleaning with a wire brush usually fixes it.
  2. It's a rust penetrator. Other ones are out there, but I like PB. Comes in a yellowish can with lots and lots of words on it. WD-40 is not a rust penetrator.

    pics

You seem to have pasted the location of the picture in your computer. You need to get it hosted online at a site like picturetrail.com You'll get an address like this: http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL91/512 ... 633195.jpg Then you highlight it and click on the IMG tag above where you're typing which will put after and then you should get the picture:
  4. Start hosing down all the bolts and what-not with PB Blaster asap!

  6. Just like Adam on Mythbusters! He went to grab the nuked fork or spoon and I actually said "no you idiot!" to the TV. Apparently he didn't hear me in time.
  7. Yup. I bought 'em. The front axle needs some freshening up, but getting an extra $150 for draggin' up that CJ8 carcass made it more worth while. :D Dang it was cold up there. 3* and a couple feet of snow too. At one point I almost hit a snowmobiler that shot across the iced-over dirt road in front of me. Idiots. I spent yesterday reorganizing the garage so I could fit in the axle rack I built (everyone has one of those, yes? :D) and get all my axles up off the floor. (Except for the 35, that stays on the floor.) As I gathered all my spare parts together in one spot I started to realize that I probably need to sell some stuff off eventually. But then I haven't been able to drive the 90 with it's new drivetrain yet, so I don't know what I might need. I've got a spare 231, 242, 30, 35, 4.10 9" center section, 8.8 (technically already sold) and now another 44 and 9" (center section is separate from the housing in the pic). And yes that's a 4.0L in the background there. Got a spare one of those too. :D
  8. That would absolutely make my day to see the expressions on guys faces that thought they could get away with something cause they figured the boonies were beyond the reach of the long arm of the law. :D I may have found my calling in life...
  9. As long as those flipped 9s are currie or hi-9, then I would LOVE the extra ground clearance for my rear d-shaft. :D

    mpg rant

Oh, don't get me wrong, you can care about mileage. I care about mileage to a certain extent (towing a trailer on the freeway and getting 27 mpg in the CRD is fun :D). But if you're whining about gas mileage and you're not willing to slow the heck down...
  11. Yup, I can see those. And my 88 is an Oly "edition" too. :D
  12. I still don't see anything and when I paste the addy into the address bar, I can't go to the page and it diverts me to the main myspace page. I could be wrong, but this leads me to believe that it's not possible to hot-link pictures from the page you're viewing. Try uploading them to Comanche Club Image Hosting

    mpg rant

 Ok, so I just read a post over at naxja from a guy wanting to get 4.10s to go with his 33s. He says he's worried about gas mileage and that he usually drives 75mph. Wait, lemme just paste it: And then later on: I can't STAND people who say they are worried about fuel mileage and then drive their shoebox Jeep on 33s at 75 mph. AAAAAA!!!!!!!! As if they either don't understand or think they can beat physics somehow. :fool: Your mpg is going to SUCK no matter what gearing you get. If you really truly cared about your mpg, then either slow the heck down, buy a dang car, or stop caring about your economy and go buy your gears/mufflers/airfilters/etc for other reasons, like "I want more power" or even "it's cooler looking". :D We now return you to your regularly scheduled program...
  14. A picture is worth a thousand words... :D
  15. Truck nuts. Classy.
  16. On U-joint angles? Well, if my truck is any indicator, you can be off a lot and still not have vibes. The axle (SOA) points straight up towards the t-case, but I don't have a double-cardon d-shaft, just a regular one. Although, I do have the rubber isolator version. I replaced the u-joints when I did the buildup and I can't sense any vibes from it. :dunno:
  17. Lot's of MJs came with the column shifter. If 4.0L, then yes it's an AW-4. If 2.5L, then, ummm, I forget which years had which tranny. :hmm:
  18. Your pic isn't showing up for me. :redX:
  19. If you're asking about running identical shafts front and rear, that won't work on our trucks because the rear shaft is much longer than the front.
  20. I blew up a Dana 35 with a 4.0 and 30" tires on a 2wd truck. Even the Peugeot outlived it. :D Popped open the cover and there were ring and pinion gear teeth everywhere!
  21. I never said I didn't go crazy.... :D
  22. I would go find an Explorer 8.8 with your choice of gear ratio (3.55, 3.73, 4.10), disk brakes, with low miles and the factory posi. Then, if you find you don't like it, you can always upgrade to an aftermarket locker or posi unit later.
  23. Yup, I did. Just cut down at the t-case end of the shaft, not the rubber isolator end.
  24. Replacement bed sides. Preferably out of aluminum, plastic, SS, something that doesn't rust. And I'm not looking for expensive ones that "replace" the current sides. I'd like ones that are an overlay of sorts, to hide to gapping holes and make the truck look good from 30 feet.
