  1. I think JT posted that in the wrong thread.
  2. What you saw was his practice runs for the competition (shot to be made into a video). From what I can tell, gymkana is all a bunch of complicated turns and drifts around obstacles. Sort of like a freestyle event combined with a race. Check out this vid of an actual competition run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHgjFPhhzY8
  3. The paint is still shiny. :D I've never owned an MJ with shiny paint. :( I'd restore it and drive it. Very few 92s were made.
  4. Tap? no. Drill? maybe. I used 2 of the steering box holes and one empty through-hole on the drivers side. On the passengers side I used 2 existing holes and drilled one. There are kits out there that will do pretty much the same job. The company name escapes me at the moment.
  5. With big long mounting brackets like these. You'll want to use as many big grade 8 bolts as you can (sometimes including the steering box bolts like I did)
  6. Cheap and Jeep can indeed go together, but "Jeep, cheap, and tall lift" very rarely go together. Usually you can only have 2 of the three.
  7. Never a good thing when an axle smiles at you. :D
  8. Here's a thread on picture posting. It can be tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11077

    Divorced MJ

Are you guys all finished yet? Not exactly following rule number one, are we?
  10. I hope someone makes a project out of it. :D
  11. I concur. :D Although my half-a-jeep isn't right hand drive.
  12. If you only spin one rear tire, you rotate the tire twice and count the revolutions of the driveshaft. If both tires will spin together, then you only rotate them tire once. Counting the revs is a fairly reliable way to tell what's inside. The general rule of thumb is that a 2.5L + 4speed manual will have 3.55 gears. But it's no guarantee, especially in 86.
  13. Directly off a truck? Likely not. The 1-ton kits are Jeep-specific designs using bigger TREs and parts rather than parts off of a junkyard vehicle. But if I remember right, the tie-rod off of a ZJ is beefier than an MJ/XJ and bolts in. But at 6" of lift, stock parts are at the maximum range of movement and length. An aftermarket kit would be better able to handle the new geometry.
  14. Noooo... you PM me with what you want. :D
  15. Actually, according to rule #2, they are all free. :D
  16. Wow, really? what crazy designer came up with that plan? And if everyone could please stop pushing each others' buttons... :shake:
  17. For that type of competition, smoking of the tires is required. :D Hard to do the donuts without it. Guess they got bored with regular racing and decided to hotdog. :clapping:
  18. 4 sets of tires. :D
  19. Oooo, that seems awfully close to breaking rule #2. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1239&p=10174
  20. MJs interiors and floors will not differ because it's 2wd or 4wd.
  21. Yup, pretty much.
  22. I used to dissolve my cat's pill in a small syringe (a needle-less version of course) filled with milk and it made life a whole lot easier. :D

    Jeep 1 - FedEx 0

Never underestimate the power of 3000 determined pounds. :D
  24. I had the passengers side freeze up on me once. If you're lucky, a whole lotta PB-Blaster might do the trick. Spray at it from every angle imaginable including through the keyhole and from above past the window.
