I just might do that if he'll lend me his tow dolly. I leave tomorrow morning for Florida so I can't under take this endeavor until I get back on Weds.

Well, the good news is that the truck is still mine for the buying. :D Apparently he's been swamped with work and that's why he couldn't deliver it last week. I didn't ask why he never called my mom to say he wasn't coming over Sat evening, or why he didn't ever call me to tell me what was up, but I guess if the truck still gets here someday I don't much care. :shake:

Well, just as I suspected, the internet is painfully slow here (stealing local wi-fi). :fs1: so I'm likely to not be as chatty as usual. :typing: Which sucks cause it's oppressively hot outside. I don't know how you southerners deal with it day in day out. :ack:

Yeah, I'm curious about that 4spd too. :hmm: The AX-4 will bolt right in place of an AX-5, maybe it was replaced at one point in time. :dunno:

Nope. There are many owners that like their benches. Some to the point of paying decent money to have them re-covered.

Don't know, I never did it. Truck does a lot of sitting still these days. :(

I wouldn't doubt it if a lot of the modern meters could actually tell the meter maid when they are about to go. Either way, $85 is pretty dang steep.

Leaving tomorrow morning (June 26th) for Georgia. Only there for a day and then I'm heading to Florida. Only there for 2 days to help a friend move (who's stuck up in Michigan and the buyer of their condo wants to take residence by the 1st) and then back to GA for a few days, maybe a week. Internet access may be sporadic so please be patient. If anyone knows of a new member trying to sign up, let them know it might be a couple days, but they'll be approved as soon as I can.

bought another, need front lift advice
Pete M replied to dunl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The t-case drop is unnecessary in an MJ and kills an inch of ground clearance. Save your money. Make sure your control arms are sized to the lift you're going for. There's a relationship between the two that determines your caster and the tire's location in the wheelwell. Don't forget, at that much lift you'll be wanting uppers too. This person better be able to produce receipts for anything they say they purchased new. Mega money and it means re-using a Dana 35 for what I'm assuming will be big tires. Is he capable of setting up gears? They aren't just "bolted in 'n go". -
Please help! Is this MJ worth the asking price?
Pete M replied to comanche09's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I wouldn't buy that for 1800. The 2wd+2.5+4spd is almost the worst drivetrain to come in an MJ. It's the opposite of "amazing power". 700 would be more in line with reality. And he better have some paperwork backing up the claim of a rebuild. -
Does it have the v-belts or the serpentine belt?

Seems you guys have covered the basics so I'll just add that I adapted the new plastic slave line to my old steel master line (the master was practically brand new at the time) using a 1/4"-to-5/16" compression fitting from the hardware store.

Will do. I'll PM you all the info I have so you'll be up to speed. I've got the address he gave me for the check, and a different address I got when I looked up his name in the whitepages (don't know for sure if he is the Sr or the Jr). I'll be in GA on Saturday, but only for the day since we're essentially just driving through. I'll be back in GA probably Tuesday or Weds. I noticed that the cell number is also used in a couple other CL ads for someone named Rick, so maybe it's not Nate's phone. Maybe his sons? I sent a text message with my name, Nate's name and that I'm trying to reach him about the MJ so maybe if it's not Nate's phone, then that guy will know why my number keeps popping up on his phone. :D

Which tires are they? Some manufacturers are true 31s, others are more like 30". Add an inch or so of bumpstop and some WJ lower control arms and you can run them on 0 lift. It'll be tight, but with the proper bumpstopping it should work ok. A full blown 3" kit would be much better though. This is my 90 on 31s (no lift and WJ arms):

   Adrenalin tends to drown out common sense. :D And pie irons are awesome. Some bread, a little butter and a can of your favorite pie filling and you've got one deeeelicious dessert around the campfire. Just remember to check on them frequently until you get a hang of how long it takes to cook one. As soon as it's golden brown, flip it. Repeat, then remove and let cool. A little powered sugar makes for a great topping.

This is why I tell people to look for a solid MJ body, not any particular trim packages. You can make an MJ into anything you want with the right junkyards. :D

All I have is a bunch of questions. :fs1: Worse comes to worst, I'll be in town Saturday and will be dropping by for a visit. If he changed his mind or sold the truck out from under me, that's fine and that's his prerogative, but I at least deserve to hear him say that.

hope i'm doing this right lol
Pete M replied to AaronClarsen's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Not bad. I've seen far worse. My phone used to take decent pics, until that feature up and died. :dunno: -
While you're reworking things, you might think about adding in an extra trans fluid radiator (maybe with a small fan?) to help keep the life blood cool.

'Tis a good thought. Sorry we couldn't be of more help (though not everyone checks the site daily so someone might post up with something later). It just seems that oem work good enough that there doesn't appear to be much aftermarket support. :hmm:

Could not resist. :teehee: (And I like our Libby.)

NP231 confusion? Help please!
Pete M replied to SkipshotMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well, I've got some good news for ya. That's an AX-15 trans. Notice the giant ring of metal under the shifter area in this picture. If you clean some of the grime off, you'll find it on yours. -
Project CRD MJ is born:
Pete M replied to Sir Sam's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Cool. I figured it was just an optical illusion. Didn't know if you suddenly going for a cowl hood look though. :D -

What phone do you have?
