Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. Actually I got the brass fitting off without tearing the line in half..it was on there good...so now I just need a new brass fitting and I should be good..I hope lol Thanks for the help though.
  2. I was taking my valve train off and need to remove the throttle body to get to a few bolts. Someone was helping me and he tried to remove the fuel lines and the brass connector snapped off inside the throttle body. So I need to find a new fuel line for that side. Anyone know where I can pick one up? I just need the part that is "quick disconnect" as the Haynes manual says. I'd like to avoid the jyard.
  3. I don't think so, there is quite a bit where the lifters are..maybe a little from removing the head. I think a blown head gasket was my issues all along..it has had some bad power issues since I got it..the other day I drove it to pep boys to get a rear view mirror and when I came out I saw coolant all over the ground under my jeep, turns out the heater hose was leaking..now here's my theory, I think it must have been leaking before I left and leaked quite a bit and started to over heat making the head gasket blow completely. I don't think its too bad..I checked the oil stick and its not milky or anything, just regular oil. Idk maybe we did get water in by removing the head..what can you do we're noobs at engine work..How do I go about getting the water out safely?
  4. Ok as you guys know I have been having some engine problems..well today we got the valve train off..and well, there's water on the cylinder heads that are at the bottom of the block..the ones on the top probably had water too..there is water where the lifters are also..what could cause this??? This sucks! :wall:
  5. Ok, well I think for now I'm just gonna wait on anything..and do a little more research so I know what I'm getting in to lol.
  6. Well I'm not really in a rush to get anything, so If I have to buy new manifolds I can..this is like a hobby jeep for me. I have a 98 wrangler as my daily driver.
  7. well maybe this will be the easier route for the newbie and young guy..I'm 21 lol I don't have much money atm.. http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/1256459144.html
  8. I really need the whole truck? I got the lift and everything on my 86 I don't wanna swap everything over..they have the engine and computer. I don't really have the money for the whole truck they want $650 for it.
  9. Well I found a 91 comanche 4.0l..so that should be an easy swap :D Trying to keep this as cheap as possible..Will my 4speed even work with a 4.0l?
  10. Its pretty bad..Went to pepboys to get a rear view mirror..came out of the store and theres coolant all under my jeep, the heater hose was cracked..so I replaced that and headed home.. coming home from pepboys I took the back way back to my house..going through another neighborhood. I came up to a large hill, was cruising in 2nd gear and got half way up the hill before it stopped moving. I tried to down shift but it just shut off on me and even if it did stay started it wouldnt even budge going up hill... I had to reverse all the way down the hill :(. It seems to be running really bad now, and it back fires now. I don't know if this is anything major...before when it was running "ok", when I turned the key off there was a delay before the engine shut down..maybe a second or 2 but now it shuts off instantly and sometimes back fires right after that. I'm thinking a cylinder isn't firing or not working. :wall:
  11. Ok, thanks. I did see a jeep 2.5l for $300 but Id still rather have a 4.0l if I can find one.
  12. Ok...I'm back..and I'm fed up with this damn engine..I'm not putting anymore money into it. So what I want to know is if this engine will swap in without or little modification? http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/1264890831.html
  13. ok..I put the PCV valve back on, thanks lol :D I don't know to much about engines (yet). This is just a temp fix. I'm probably going to end up swapping a 4.0 in it, my uncles neighbor helped him swap in an engine on his Wagoner...so I'll ask him for help :rotfl2:
  14. thanks for all the help guys..Next time I do a oil change i'll put some of that restore in it. When I get a chance I'll do a compression test. Here is what I did so far..I think I did everything right, ran a tube from the rear vent to a 2litre bottle to catch the oil for now so it don't leak on the engine and smoke. I put a breather where the PCV valve was. I capped off all the lines for the PCV valve system so instead of going back to the throttle body and getting burned the air just vents through the breather.
  15. Ok just to be clear...oil isnt suppose to come out in large portion on exhaust(back of the valve cover) for the crankcase vent system right? I could for now just rig up a tube to catch the oil...at least I can drive it..
