  1. The Chevy drop shackles should get you pretty darn close. Since you don't have a bed, the rear should sit higher than the rest of us.
  2. Might look a bit funny with 2" up front and 6 out back.
  3. Which front 44? Which style front suspension?

    Chat room!...

Mabey we should re-label it the midwesterners chat. :dunno:
  5. This guy added a couple XJMJ isolators in to balance out his lift.
  6. 3" lift Add-a-leafs for an XJ. Any brand will do. The longer leaf versions are better than the short leaf ones. If you're a savvy shopper, used coils and old isolators can be had for nothing or next to it.
  7. I would go with about 2" then if you want to keep the buildup to a minimum. 3" starts to require things like brake lines, shocks, track bars control arms etc. Cheapest way will be to grab a bunch of coil spring isolators from junkyard XJs (the alternative being some poly spacers), and then find some Chevy fullsize truck drop shackles (which are a bit longer than stock MJ) or find a used XJ 3" AAL (which would give 1.5-2" of lift in an MJ).
  8. No need to apologize. Lord knows it appears we like to stray off-topic on this site. :D I'm just trying to help you get some more exposure for questions whose answers will be largely opinions. The more opinions you can gather, the more likely you are to be able to make a sound choice.
  9. You might want to break these questions up and start new threads. I'm betting most guys still think you're asking about wheeling. :D
  10. bumpers, bumpers, and more bumpers... :D viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7576 viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17159 viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14031
  11. Don't forget that 2wd MJs sit a bit lower than 4wd MJs (given they share a similar drivetrain).
  12. Mine's not black... :dunno:
  13. I've read good things about the Aussie locker.
  14. I don't recommend trying to swap gears or carriers then. It's a complicated process usually best left to the pros (and it's not cheap). I would use the 3.55 open axle and install a locker (the kind that replace the spider gears) like the Aussie.
  15. I would probably buy it and work on getting another TSL to match and then run them in the rear and use the odd man out Mickey to use as a spare. I've got 33" trXus up front and run 33" boggers in the back and have not experienced any issues that I could link to the different types of tires. I only use 4wd in the dirt/mud/sand. I don't advise trying to use the TSLs on the street. :ack:
  16. How soon is "shortly"? Fully charged battery?
  17. does that mean I have to use the 3.07's, or just take out the posi element and put it on the 3.55's? this D30 is a HP axle, unlike the LP i have in the other MJ. 4x4 swap will have to wait for a while - next year or this winter most likely, unless someone wants to help me out. The posi cannot be swapped without re-setting up the gears. And gears are not swappable between LP and HP axles. Have you ever set up gears before?
  18. Well, my 4+1 86 bigton 4x4 sits about the same as my 90 (also 4x4), so I guess I fit in with Wahoo's theory. :D Though I'm not sure I necessarily agree. Let's say that HellCreek's leafs are spot on with the Jeep specifications. Who's to say that Jeep actually followed their own "specs"? There are a LOT of variables in leaf pack design and 20 years has lapsed between then and now. :dunno:
  19. Did you mean to put this into one of the regional forums?
  20. A winter beater outta one of the rarest ever? Could we at least call it something other than a "beater"? :dunno:
  21. Don't get those 2 mixed up. :D
