  1. Mine's not black... :dunno:
  2. I've read good things about the Aussie locker.
  3. I don't recommend trying to swap gears or carriers then. It's a complicated process usually best left to the pros (and it's not cheap). I would use the 3.55 open axle and install a locker (the kind that replace the spider gears) like the Aussie.
  4. I would probably buy it and work on getting another TSL to match and then run them in the rear and use the odd man out Mickey to use as a spare. I've got 33" trXus up front and run 33" boggers in the back and have not experienced any issues that I could link to the different types of tires. I only use 4wd in the dirt/mud/sand. I don't advise trying to use the TSLs on the street. :ack:
  5. How soon is "shortly"? Fully charged battery?
  6. does that mean I have to use the 3.07's, or just take out the posi element and put it on the 3.55's? this D30 is a HP axle, unlike the LP i have in the other MJ. 4x4 swap will have to wait for a while - next year or this winter most likely, unless someone wants to help me out. The posi cannot be swapped without re-setting up the gears. And gears are not swappable between LP and HP axles. Have you ever set up gears before?
  7. Well, my 4+1 86 bigton 4x4 sits about the same as my 90 (also 4x4), so I guess I fit in with Wahoo's theory. :D Though I'm not sure I necessarily agree. Let's say that HellCreek's leafs are spot on with the Jeep specifications. Who's to say that Jeep actually followed their own "specs"? There are a LOT of variables in leaf pack design and 20 years has lapsed between then and now. :dunno:
  8. Did you mean to put this into one of the regional forums?
  9. A winter beater outta one of the rarest ever? Could we at least call it something other than a "beater"? :dunno:
  10. Don't get those 2 mixed up. :D
  11. Which trans? If it's the 87-89 Peugeot, don't do it!
  12. Go south and see. I've yet to see a decent pair of leafs in a Michigan junkyard. I'm not saying they aren't there, only that I've never seen them. :D
  13. Sounds like a broken leaf in there. I'd recommend both. And try to get them from someplace rust-free if you can.
  14. Have you installed the XJ ones? They'll ad lift, just not quite as much as they would on an XJ. Can't go wrong with the HellsCreek option. Do it right the first time or pay for it twice. :D
  15. I bet there's only about 100 pounds difference between the 2 bed lengths
  16. Not really. The age and sagginess of any used springs you find will matter more than if they came from a LB or SB.
  17. yes. But 2wd MJs sit about an inch lower than 4wds.
  18. Go get yourself a wheeler! Get something that you won't cry over when you roll it. :D
  19. Yeah, real Jeeps try their darndest to rot away on ya. How the rest of the rig? Seats and whatnot in good shape?
  20. Getting another vehicle is soooo less painful... :D
  21. Yay! I finally have some recent photos for this thread. :D
  22. So buy yourself a cheap XJ, steal the parts you need and part out the rest. You guys should be pretty good at it by now. :brows:
  23. Well, you know the solution to that... Dump the 249 for a decent t-case. :D
