  1. you keep asking that as if I should know or something. :rotfl2: I won't know til today is done and I know what I have left on the plate for tomorrow morning. I wasn't exactly planning on doing brake work when I planned this all out last week.
  2. looks like we'll be offering pullover hoodies for $35 any size (ouch) and onesies too, for a price that's still up for debate but will; be somewhere around 12 bucks. :clapping:
  3. arriving. but the more I think about it, the more likely I'll be arriving 6-7 oclock. :dunno: gotta take into account that time change thing too.
  4. Sorry, but WD-40 does no such thing. It is simply a slippery liquid and a water displacer. A actual "rust penetrator" would be your best bet. PB-Blaster is my fave, but there are others out there.
  5. Some backstory: the Dakota had been sitting for a year or so before yesterday's 13 hour excursion back to Michigan. Worked up to it though, short runs around the neighborhood, then longer runs out to stores or the gas station. had no issues through most of the day until I hit traffic around Cincinnati. Once I was clear of that I noticed that the truck was draggin' a bit. My first thought was a flat tire, but as soon as I touched the brake pedal I eliminated that. The pedal was instantly firm. No play at all. and that meant one thing to me so I pulled off at the next stop. sure enough, the front brakes were wicked hot. Not glowing, but still very very warm. Water was instantly boiling off the calipers. So, not having the tools to easily deal with this in the middle of nowhere (I know, shocking right? except that I left the hydraulic jack and wrench with my dad in case he had need of them in GA or with the trailer). I went with plan B. a bottle of water, some WD-40 and crossing my fingers. I cooled the calipers down as best I could, then soaked all moving parts with WD-40 and took the opportunity to stop for dinner. seemed to do the trick and, while I was easy on the brakes after that, I didn't have any more issues. So my question is, what do you think the original problem was? The brakes were sticking evenly on the fronts. I would think that if one caliper was sticking, only that wide would be affected and the truck would want to wander in that direction on the road. it ran straight the entire time. Later today I intend to pull off the brakes and lube everything up properly, but if this was a master cylinder issue it may be for nothing (although I guess it's still a good maintenance thing regardless).
  6. dunno, which trans it is, but isn't that a frontwheeldrive-based car with a transverse mounted engine?
  7. made it home late last night. slight issue with the brakes in the Dak, but it seems to have fixed itself. :dunno: gotta get packed and ready for the next leg of this crazy trip.
  8. 6 hours before I show up at your door. :D I guess I want to avoid traffic so maybe 4pm? but I'm getting ahead of myself. we'll talk more after I arrive safely home. one thing at a time.
  9. looks like y'all know where I'll be on the 24th. if only to meet the new owner. :D and looks like I might buy a lotto ticket too... :brows:
  10. could have been a floor model at a dealership. the one by me has a Prowler with under 500 miles (owned by the dealerhips owner though)
  11. 6 hours after I leave Detroit. any time-frame that's better for you? got work?
  12. so far so good. been quite the adventure today just trying to get my insurance paper printed up :shake: , but we're all good now. topped off the tank with some premium and she feels like she's ready for the long haul back to michigan tomorrow. :D
  13. leaving Ga in the morning. the Dak is all gassed up and purrs like a lion. Should be a decent drive weather-wise. Hopefully traffic won't be as atrocious as the trip down.
  14. Not in the museum, but in the storage building. I hate that I don't have any moeny. :(
  15. http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/1671321826.html
  16. don't remember. it was wicked hot. :ack: but if you search for Jeep truck at the pull-a-part east website, it'll tell ya. http://pullapart.com/
  17. clean sheetmetal, nice bucket seats, full console, 4.0, cargo light (bring a drill to defeat the phillips screws) Very depressing to see it there. even more depressing that I had no money or tools to do anything. :(
  18. of anyone's. I'm having difficulty picturing where the contact is occurring. :hmm:
  19. I mean no offense by this, but your question leads me to believe that you may not be up to setting up gears. :dunno: Or are you just stripping down what you've got?
  20. Mine requires a bit more work than I think you might be looking for. :D
  21. I gotta try that exit location next time we plug in the Libby. I had the factory cord stuck through the grille. Diesels need that engine heater. Our libby makes all sorts of bad noises if we forget to plug her in the night before. :ack:
  22. I don't see how the clutch fan would affect driveability. :dunno:
  23. I'm guessing yes. My new internal slave came with little clips that hold it compressed and keep it from flying apart. they pop right off when you first push on the pedal.
