Are the arms the proper length for the extra lift? If they are too short, then your caster is likely off. Check your caster.

and now I know why I was mistaken. seems that the LB (8ft) was indeed an option 97-99. Just in time for it to disappear when I was researching them when I bought my 2000. :shake: Also, for some reason I've never seen one. :dunno: So there ya go. :D But it's only available in regular cab. By the way, the regular length bed is 6.5 ft.

2nd gens all had the exact same bed (except for the 4 doors which were only 5ft). I've got a 7ft MJ too and I've never missed that last foot in the Dak. :dunno: Only the first Gen Daks (and only regular cab at that) had the option of a 7 footer. think of it as trading a foot of bed for 2 feet of back seat room. And their ability offroad depends entirely on you definition of "offroading". There are plenty of Dak owners out that that swear by their rigs, but they are a bit longer and wider than an MJ, so tight trails will be, well, tighter. But it's not like you're giving up the MJ, so it'll still be around for those adventure cravings.   Except I'll never buy another black truck again. Silver or dark blue are my Dak faves.

Might need to bumpstop that a bit. :D Image Not Found

I'm partial to the second gen Daks. I have a 2000 and love it. A clubcab v8 4wd Dak would be a nice compliment to an MJ. gives you some more power, interior space, and more of the comforts of a modern truck.

all right guys. you can knock it off now. Sterling, have you tried car-part.com yet? Can you just swap the lights from one MJ to the other for the inspection?
-
It should not affect fuel economy in any noticeable way. Unless maybe there was something wrong in the jeep. I mean, how much gas does it really take to spin the front driveshaft around compared to moving the truck down the road? :dunno:

Do Long beds and Short Beds have the same Frame?
Pete M replied to case5412's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
SWB can do that too. The differences between a SWB and LWB offroad usually boil down to the LWB dragging its bumper all over the place. That extra 6" of overhang after the rear axle can be an issue. The extra 6" of wheelbase is really not that big of a deal. -

which tc? torque converter or transfercase? 4.0 or 2.8 6 cyl? If transfercase, what year is the 6 cyl and is it stick or auto?
-
Whoops! Sorry 'bout that. I forgot to include the part below it that says that commercial properties are included unless their particular business requires piles of crap lying around.
-
that due to the MJ having way more arch in the springs already.

Just so I can keep it all straight for you guys, these are the recent issues at hand. Keep in mind while you read this that he just told us the code number. I had to look up the actual words on my own. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accusation: Storage of vehicles is not allowed. Code he quoted: In any area zoned for residential purposes, the open storage upon any property of unlicensed, inoperable or damaged motor vehicles, or the dismantled salvage components thereof, except when such is stored in a completely enclosed building. For the purpose of this article, the term "unlicensed vehicle" shall mean a vehicle not having a current year registration plate; the term "inoperable or damaged motor vehicle" shall include, but not limited to, vehicles which have extensive damage by collision or vandalism, broken windows, missing wheels or tires, missing component parts or power train. Such vehicles shall not remain on any property for more than seven days. My thoughts: the code clearly only states that cars that are un-plated or otherwise seriously damaged or dismantled cannot be stored :dunno: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accusation: storage of the trailers is not allowed: Code he quoted (edited for brevity): When used in this article the term "recreational equipment and vehicles" shall include: ... (1) Boats and boat trailers ... (2) Folding tent trailer ... (3) Motorized home ... (4) Pickup camper ... (5) Travel trailer ... (6) Horse trailer ... (7) Utility trailer which is a vehicle used to transport motorcycles, snowmobiles, go-carts or stock cars; (8) Snowmobiles, stock cars and go-carts ... (9) Motorcycles, mopeds, dirt-bikes, dune buggies ... My thoughts: Neither trailer has ever touched a recreational vehicle so does this really apply? There's no provision in that particular code for "any ol' trailer" or even work trailers. :dunno: code part 2: (2) If the recreational equipment or vehicle is parked or stored outside of a garage, it shall be parked or stored to the rear of the front building line of the lot. The setback requirement in the side or rear yard shall be a minimum of two feet. (3) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (2) of this section, recreational equipment and vehicles may be parked on the premises except on the front lawn for a period of not more than 72 hours. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accusation: Parking on the street is limited to a continuous 48 hour time frame. Code he quoted: (1) A person shall not park a vehicle on any street for the principal purpose of doing any of the following: ... (e) Storage for more than 48 continuous hours. My thoughts: Is it really "storage" if I simply park the car out front during the weekend? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accusation: Parking on my apron is limited to the same continuous 48 hour time frame. still waiting for what-on-earth code covers that.

aftermarket AAL? as a general rule of thumb they will produce roughly half the advertised lift when installed in an MJ.
-
am i the only one that thinks that after all the hard work that Bo put into that truck, it almost seems a shame to tear it all apart again for a different engine. :dunno:
-
no such luck. :( but on the plus side, there far less chance of injuring the seal upon installation and then having to do it twice. :D
-
gotcha. Shouldn't have any real trouble finding a decent solid 2wd/4.0 down south for under 1500. floors are a tricky issue though, as any MJ anywhere can suffer from them. :(

Moved the 90 back to the parking lot and turned the 88 around. man that spool sure leaves a mess on the pavement. :D

MJ Rear Bumper Reviews...
Pete M replied to Str8OuttaBallard's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
We had enough people signed up for the taillights and they bailed on us. :( -
So today our code enforcer politely informs us that there's a 48 hr rule on our driveway (which, since we are on the corner, is actually part of the side easement). Kinda knew this was coming, since he's looking for ways to harass us. :fs1: Lived here for 34 years now and it's never been an issue. Heck, the 88 was parked on the apron and unmoved for over 2 years straight. :D Looks like I'll be moving them back to the parking lot and putting it on the list to ask for an official variance at the next city meeting. Still waiting on a response from the code enforcer to the doctor's last letter.

plus it can sometimes be a bit of a challenge to open an envelope with a gun.

I would also plan my route to stay as close to populated areas as possible. Lots o' empty space out there.
