  1. Looks like I might need to build one of my own someday. :brows:
  2. made one for a member and I have a couple extra if anyone wants one. These are just like the windshield banners, but made to mount to the outside of a truck (side of a truck cap, back window, etc). I do not suggest mounting these to the windshield. the wipers and the wind will make short work of destroying them. if there are more members wanting them, I'll get more printed up.
  3. dunno. there were guys on the radio nearby. Could have been talking about something or someone else. I was too fascinated by watching the truck rise up over the horizon, then dip down below the horizon. :D My apologies for forgetting that the camera was on a poorer quality setting. :(
  4. I wanna say the lakeview cruiser went ~175mph the day before, but don't quote me. they were having fuel issues (running rich) so they should have gone even faster on the run you saw.

yes, but will a new block really fix the problem if it's simply a bad injector or timing chain?
  6. :agree: My peugeot got stuck in second once. after exhausting all options available to me on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, I kicked the shifter handle out of frustration. popped right out and for some reason didn't have that issue ever again. (the trans blew up the next year)
  7. amen to that. tried quitting caffeine many times over the years. Decided that I'm happy to simply be down to a can or 2 a day.
  8. very nice truck! yup. the projects forum is where we ask about your truck.
  9. re-parked the 90 and 86 (moved them to allow access to the downed tree). They had both been parked slightly downhill and the recent storms had dumped some water in the beds. So after re-parking, I hooked the trailer to one and then the other to weigh down the backend and help drain the h2o. With any luck, this evening I'll be able to work on the 88. Still need to reorient the rear axle so I can hook up the driveshaft. Debating on doing the 3rd member swap to the open diff unit sooner rather than later. The spool is driving me nuts on the pavement. :ack:
  10. me too. :( twice now I've seen it in person, and neither time was it even able to crank over.

What has convinced you that it's dead? bottom end noise? no power?
  12. Zelda too.
  13. the gearing is so high that he'd have to risk spinning the tires to get going, and spinning the tires is very much frowned upon due to the damage it does to the flats. The push start is very common.
  14. I'm thinking you should put a post in the main registry forum to outline what it is you're looking for.
  15. a wire wheel is a poor choice of tool for that job. leaves all sorts of nasty scratches. first hand experience here. :( Sand (or other media) blasting would be a better choice. clear coat is just a paint. remove it and see what lies beneath. (but remove it properly so as to not damage the metal.)
  16. looks like a poor quality photo of a white egg. :hmm: probably why I didn't get it. :dunno:
  17. i'd be curious to know if that particular chicken lays another white egg. know which one did it?
  18. Found the videos from the salt flat trip. first up is the "competition" for WFC: an S-10. Warm up for the Lakeview Cruiser: getting ready to go: Yeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. 30x9.50s on those rims will not hit the flares, but they will rub the lower control arms. I never had any rubbing with my BFG ATs. It was close, but still didn't touch. :D
  20. call it jinxing or whatever, but twice now I've announced a truck purchase and it's turned out to be a bit "premature". :fs1: Next time I'm saying nothing until it's in my driveway. :D
  21. the Ford Exploder; dangerous even after the firestone tires are removed.
  22. Hi Rick! :waving: Rob has it backwards. the resistor is bypassed upon startup, and then after a couple seconds power is diverted through it. This gives the pump full power for startup, then cuts back on the power for running (originally it was supposedly a way to quiet the pump down). If only the resistor is bad, the truck should start up, then die after a second or so. It sounds as if there's a short in the system. :dunno: Both wires might be toast by now. look for any wires that might be touching the exhaust. If you've already got a wire in for power, you're halfway there. now just add a switch and you'll have an antitheft device. :D water pump should be the easy too. I did one in under an hour while stranded in a rest area parking lot.
  23. pretty much all of the small-Jeep rims have the same backspacing. I ran 30s on alloys under my 2wd 88 for years with no rubbing whatsoever.
  24. I collect pins. :D I'm most definitely curious about what you're doing. Got any photos of past products?
