  1. yes, you can use those 2wd leafs. They will sit slightly lower than 4wd leafs but not much. I'm running modified 2wd leafs on my 88 in SOA fashion.
  2. How much of a project are you looking for? You could swap the entire XJ guts into your 91. Or you could swap just the drivetrain hard parts of the XJ into your 91.
  3. several of us have reused the stock shocks be relocating the mounts above the axle. It's not ideal, but has been proven to work. I think the easiest version I saw was to flip them upside down and swap sides left to right.
  4. If I was him, I'd wrap them up carefully and stash them away for safe keeping. :D If I had a black interior that nice, I'd probably freak out if I couldn't put it back to original.
  5. if you're already bored, then it's possible that you need a new hobby. :D drinking makes for a poor hobby.
  6. how much lift? what parts did you use? did you align the steering after the lift?
  7. welcome to the club! :wavey: for introducing your MJ: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15 for a photo of yourself: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1777
  8. in that case, right click, then click properties and copy the address of the photo itself (rather than the address of the webpage) and use that here. p.s. firefox is infinitely better.
  9. firefox or explorer? are you clicking on copy image or copy image location?
  10. I worked on the 88. that's right, I actually did something productive to one of my MJs. pulled the spooled 3rd member out. Hopefully tonight I'll get a chance to put the open diff in.
  11. no need for the bushwackers. if on Jeep rims, the 31s will fit a stock MJ. on a side note, the bushwackers may look a bit funny with on 31s under them.
  12. do you want 5" of lift?
  13. tires listed in inches are rarely as tall as the number would indicate. i.e. 30" tires are usually shorter than 30". tires listed in the silly 235/75 fashion are generally accurate in their listed dimensions.
  14. 30s are only a hair bigger than 235s
  15. close. try right clicking on the image, then select "copy image location" and paste that here. highlight it, then click the IMG tag. should give you something like this: which gives you this:
  16. curb weight is only 3k or so.
  17. 1475 for all non-metric ton MJs. hard copy. got it off ebay years ago. :D
  18. GVWR: 4551 according to the 88 dealership brochure.
  19. too short control arms can also contribute to a rough ride. as will stiff springs and cheap shocks.
  20. email your photos to comancheclub@hotmail.com and I'll take care of the rest. you will need to eventually figure it out though. we love seeing pictures of MJs. :D
  21. there's nothing impressive about the old diesels. :ack: they were anemic and parts can be very hard to come by.
  22. 1986 is the wild card. you could still have 3.55s or 3.73s. Gotta check to know for sure. If you don't want to pull the cover, you could jack up one rear tire (trans in neutral) and rotate the tire around twice while counting the rotations of the driveshaft. if the driveshaft rotates 3 and a half times, it's 3.55. If it does a bit over 4 times, then 4.10s.
  23. some photos of your current setup would be nice. If you MJ is currently spring-under, then you just need newperches burned directly above them in spring-over configuration. There's no need to remove the originals, so you could still revert back to stock at any time. Also, if the axle was NOT out of an MJ originally and was installed using aftermarket perches, then the bolt-on kit WILL NOT WORK. It is designed to use the stock MJ perches. The kit's pieces fit into the inside of the perches and uses them for both locating and for strength.

    Lowerd comanche

just so there's no confusion, the original Street Comanches weren't lowered. They were stock height 2wd MJs.
