  1. welcome to the club! :waving: this forum is more for giving us updates on your project as you go along. if you have tech questions, they should go in the tech forum so more people will see them and they will then be in the searchable database.
  2. awesome. :D

    Checking in

Good luck! but take your time. hasn't been above the mid 20s here in quite some time. tomorrow is a warm spell of 32. then 20s again.
  4. do you have intermittent wipers? if so, then all of the above, plus the intermittent box under the drivers side dash. It's held up with velcro and has an input harness and an output harness that can be both unplugged from the box, then plugged directly into each other to check if the box is bad.
  5. bottom line: it depends. The only way to find out is to do it and see. You should always plan for one, but if it's ok, then run it as is.
  6. -8 wind chill yesterday. or was that the day before? they all just blur together when you don't go outside unless the house is on fire. and then you don't too far, cause fire is warm.
  7. plus, bypassing the CAD is free.
  8. got a photo of what you're contemplating? :hmm: I had a 2wd d-shaft cut down to length for $30. others have paid up to 100 for the same thing. also, welcome to the club! :waving:
  9. He's got the carbed 2.8L. are you letting it fully warm up before you take off and drive? I realize my 86 is a big pile of crap, but I gotta let it warm up first or else it's undriveable. (and that's funny. :D "the cold". :rotf: )
  10. Well, technically you need either the gasket or the rtv. They both do the same job. Some people like to put a thin line of rtv on their gaskets but it shouldn't be necessary.
  11. assuming I'm still in Michigan when the thaw comes, how about a mini-get-together at my house one weekend? I could use the help with getting some of the fleet road worthy. and y'all can visit the junkyards by me.
  12. sounds like a killar project. but we need more pics! :D Welcome to the club! :wavey:
  13. He's referring to the Dodge Dakota R/T. (these aren't mine. mine is black. and has a disintegrating clear coat. just like my MJs. :D
  14. soon as I find an extra 25 smackers...
  15. uh, I watched it old school. on the TV. :D
  16. the taller you are, the more top-heavy you are. in my opinion, the front fenders are the biggest reason to get lift to clear the big tires, but you seem to have solved that fender issue already. :D
  17. just saw the guys at Top Gear racing one around a damp road course. those eco tires didn't even try to turn the car. :ack: sorry planet Earth, if sacrificing my family's safety is what it takes to save you... it's been a pleasure but... so long. :waving:
  18. what do you need more lift for?
  19. I don't remember reading of anyone that's done that. I've drilled through the bed for all sorts of reasons, but never the tank hangers. :D
  20. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11693
  21. there are several methods to keeping the axle shaft engaged all the time. I think the simplest is to pull off the CAD cover, push the collar over to engage the axle, then re-install the CAD cover upside down so the fork keeps the axle engaged. I guess if you connect the right 2 vac lines together, you should still be able to get the 4x4 light to work. but there's no real point to having the light, since that big handle next to your leg will always tell you if you are in 4wd or not.
  22. any year 2.5L from any MJ/TJ/XJ/YJ will swap. The better question is, which ones had the metal cover? I don't know the answer to that one. :dunno:
  23. the poll feature is broken.
  24. hard to say. you should get something from it, but since your engine is a carbed engine not a computerized engine, I cannot say for sure what will happen. 2.5s and 4.0s have a computer that controls everything and it expects to have a certain amount of backpressure there. if the pressure goes away, the computer won't know it and carries on it's merry way with its original fuel curve and timing. You should at least get a muffler. and if you have any sort of emissions testing in your area, you should definitely get a cat.
  25. got mine already. :D and with fewer miles. careful, they're almost as addictive as MJs.
