  1. so you want one of the rarest axles of all time, but you're not willing to pay a completely reasonable price for it. I think that's how you can tell you're a true Jeeper. We're such cheapskates. :rotf: actually it'll work very well with a grunty v8. It'll suck with a 2.5L. big difference there. I've got 3.92s in my Dakota and even when I was running the 31" tires (something like a 3.40 equivalent ratio) it never ever felt like a dog. how about this, try it, and if you don't like it with the v8, then spend your money on the change.
  2. a: I've shown you where a couple of amc-20s are  b: swapping from 3.73s to 4.10s just isn't worth the cost and effort. 3.73s will work just fine for ya. c: can't wait to hear that v8 roar.
  3. I've tried to get rid of it, but so far with no luck. :( still trying though. In the mean time, go directly to comancheclub.com/forums
  4. there's not much aftermarket support for the 8.25 either, doesn't make it a bad axle. awd is awesome. period. If one does not need or want awd, then the 231 works great too. It's win-win here. :D
  5. getting less mpgs is a myth. I've noticed no difference between 2wd and awd in our Libby. also, THERE'S STILL 2WD AVAILABLE!!! It's not a full-time case. And it has locked 4wd high-range too. It's got all of the above. :D Both t-case are going to last. we're just splitting hairs when it comes to longevity. yes, the 231 is "stronger", but it's not that much stronger. Both will do you fine.
  6. I would go out of my way to put in a 242. I like awd on the pavement. :D
  7. the 231 is rated for a bit more, but both t-cases will work great offroad.
  8. polls are broken. do you want to use 4wd on pavement? if yes, then 242.
  9. does this mean you're putting in a 2 story garage?
  10. why are you changing the exhaust? rust?
  11. my 86 had a leak up at the top of the windshield. the water was draining down inside the A pillar and dumping out onto the floor by the door. If hadn't had the A pillar trim removed, I might never have found that leak. :ack:

yes they do. we're MJ nuts. :D it's what we do. and why don't you have any cards? all I need is an addy to send them too.
  13. the misconception about "bolting in" gears is so prevalent that I never take it for granted and always feel compelled to ask and make sure.
  14. for 77 bucks, I'd pass. the right one is out there somewhere. mine cost me 25 and even came with a rear window. :D (with a broken hinge though)

did you give the new owner a club card? :brows: speaking of which, if you email me the full image from your avatar, I'll gladly replace the pixalated image with a clearer one.
  16. could be anywhere. I've had good success with sprinkling baby powder around and then using the hose. the drips will make little trails in the powder and lead you back towards the leak location.
  17. got number 9? http://lewiston.craigslist.org/cto/2106441352.html also, someone give me 3 grand.
  18. once again, gear ratio is most important. any CAD can be bypassed, and any CAD axle can be upgraded to the one-peice shafts with the bigger U-joints later on.
  19. I've got a minispool in my front 44. i HATE it. turning is, well, challenging. when I can get to it, I'm swapping it for a locker.
  20. checked out the 90 to make sure no one had hit it (also checked the dakota). they're good.
  21. how are you planning on lining the inside of the uniframe? inside the rockers? at least the floor can be dealt with... assuming it hasn't started rotting already. Our trucks rot from the inside-out. It's hard to combat that. :(
  22. plain ol' copper works great in our engines.
  23. tb spacers aren't worth their weight in dirt on an mpi motor. does the rustys system separate the filter from the hot air in the engine bay? if not, you're just trading a restricted system suckin cold air for a less restricted suckin hot air.
  24. nope. if you did manage to turn the distributor (there are tabs on it that prevent this), the computer would just try to re-adjust back to what it wants.
