  1. Just an update to the club, Pingpong (Pat) was in an accident last weekend at an annual run down here. It happened post-run last Friday night, after everyone was off the trails and back at camp. He was a passenger in, of all things, a golf cart  , and got tossed out when the driver made a stoopid maneuver. He's got a broken tib/fib in his right leg below the knee, and a broken left foot, and will be in rehab for a good while. He's in good spirits, though (he called me from the back of the ambulance transporting him from UVA med center to the rehab facility). I'll post more details when I can......his wife is rigging up a laptop for him so he can commo from rehab, so he may check in also. Jeff

    im moving

I was born in Comanche County, Oklahoma...... :D (Ft. Sill) Jeff
  3. checked your exhaust....tailpipe, muffler, etc? Maybe you munched something. Jeff
  4. edited for clarity.... :rotfl2:
  5. Put your dog and your spouse in the trunk of her car. An hour later, open the trunk. Which one is really happy to see you? ;) Jeff
  6. I know that person who's cited on the Novak website, personally...... :D Jeff
  7. or you could eliminate the ballast resistor entirely.....the only reason it's there is to quiet the pump a bit. Just splice the wires together. Jeff
  8. XJ's got AW4's behind the 2.5's too.....my front axle (4.56) came out of one, and I saw another one at Harry's last summer (didn't have the tools or time to pull anything). Counting them, I've seen three other Jeeps with that setup, and they were all MJ's. I've got an AW4 2.5 bellhousing, TCU, torque converter, and TBI (with the extra TPS connector) sitting in my parts pile, in case anyone's interested....... Jeff
  9. The wife and I are going on a much needed and postponed vacation.....shoulda happened back in April but we put it off, and can't stand it anymore. Ocean....drinks....cigars....good eats.... leaving on Friday for Ft. Lauderdale to set sail on Saturday, and won't be back until ????? Y'all have fun  Jeff
  10. I've never bought anything off eBay (yet), but look at the bid history for those......something looks shady to me. Lotsa bumping by the same bidders within a short time frame. Wonder if they are friends of the seller...... I've worked plenty of live auctions in my day to see "bidding up" when I see it. Jeff
  11. Isn't that one of the signs of the Apocolypse?? :D Bet your wife is happy......
  12. I had the same problem with the Mopar perches (5/8"). I ended up installing the pins "backwards", with the pin ends and nuts into the hole in the perch. The nuts fit very snugly into the hole, plus they were 2X the height of the hex head on the pin and sit farther into the hole. So far no problems. I wasn't about to drill out all of the leaves..... Jeff
  13. did you install new u-joints? They tend to wear in at the fixed angle they've been operating at, and when you change the operational angle they aren't very happy. I'd swap them as a start..... Jeff
  14. there was a member on here that attempted to get an HO to run on a Renix engine harness only (was it Corey?), but the last I heard of that project he was selling it, saying it had some "issues".....couldn't get it right I suspect. You'd be better served finding an HO interior harness and swapping it in. If you can't find an MJ one, you can use an XJ one but you'll have to splice in part of your existing Renix cab harness (the subharness that connects the rear lighting and fuel pump wiring) Jeff

sounds exactly like my grandfather, except all he ever drove were pickups (either Chevy or Ford, and never bought new) that were "3 in the trees". He'd always shift from first, after winding it waaaay out, to third......didn't want to wear out the clutch, and second gear, apparently. I'm happy to say I grew up just like him (cheap). Ask my wife about it sometime ;) Welcome to the club Dave. Jeff
  16. not my MJ per se, but it used to be......Pat (pingpong), me and another jeeper swapped my old 2.5/AX5 combo into his 90 MJ today in the rain..... in the wind.... in his driveway on sheets of plywood..... and it all purrs like a kitten. A most proper Jeep repair, complete with steaks and bakes on the grill, and plenty of beers  Jeff edit: couple pics....http://www.mpjai.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=8644
  17. you've got the same quill, it just plugs into the tailshaft of your 2WD tranny, not into a TC....just pull out the electrical-style quill on the new TC and insert. You may need to extend your speedo wiring, though. Jeff
  18. I'm running one of Jon's (5-90) full Renix wire kits.......good stuff. recommend X2 Jeff
  19. be careful when removing the old one from the manifold......I swapped one on my old 2.5 and the old one snapped clean off at the threads, flush with the manifold. I ended up having to use a fluted extractor to turn the remnants of it out and then clean out the manifold before installing the new one :fs1: It's a brass fitting into an aluminum manifold (dissimilar metals), and the factory loctite didn't help the situation any, either..... Jeff
  20. R&R the clutch while you have it all apart if you want to. Also, the rear main seal in a 2.5 is a one-piece deal (unlike the 2 pc one on a 4.0).....I'd suggest replacing it while you have the flywheel off. It only costs about $5 :D Check the other welch plugs as well on the side of the block. Jeff edit: Don beat me to it.....
  21. There's one in the back of the head above the bell, and yes, there is one in the back of the block. You have to pull the tranny and flywheel to access it. Jeff
  22. if I want to pound down beers, I gotta go light beer....I'm not as young as I used to be  If I want to seriously enjoy a good beer, I go for Duval (trappist monk Ale) If you haven't tried it yet, you should (bring your wallet though) ;) Jeff
  23. Not to stray off topic, but you STILL haven't gotten your harness yet?????? If you just need the engine-side, I can run down to the pick-n-pull (going there tomorrow anyway) and pull you an XJ one. No MJ's in there currently....lemme know. Jeff
  24. SW...there's like a .06 cent O ring in there that you need to replace. But if you went bonzaii on it with a mallet, odds are yer gonna need more than just the O ring..... ;) Jeff
