  1. With a properly adjusted trackbar, the turning radius will be equal both ways. With the axle shifted underneath the truck, you get less of a throw in turning one direction, and more than standard the other way. Rob :smart: This is true. Also needs longer sway bar links. The 92+ XJ links should do fix ya up. Also, Canyon wheels, while they have the same B/S, are constructed differently than other Jeep wheels in that the inside circumference is less in diameter than the others. I tried first Canyon wheels on the rear with my disk brakes and they would not clear the caliper w/o using spacers. The Ravines and 10-spoke turbine wheels did.
  2. The OP said he's rubbing on the sway bar links, not the frame. I interpreted that to be the top of the sway bar because the bar was lowered compressing the front coils because of his lift. Happened to me. The adj. track bar only centers the axle so if there is rubbing on the frame it can be equalized, but won't help rubbing the sway bar link (or coil distortion). If this is what he meant. Would also like to see some pics.
  3. If it's rubbing on the sway bar link, and if you still have the original sway bar links, you need to get longer sway bar links. The 92+ XJ links are 1-1/2" longer than your stock links and replacing them w. these should cure the rubbing. Bolt-in. Then adjust your track bar to center the axle.

  5. You're already senile Pat, but you do have occasional lucid moments. These lucid moments will improve as you get older and wiser.
  6. So. Any progress on the wandering Rob?
  7. There's a connector up under the driver's side dash, and the delay module just plugs in, then is fastened to the lower dash with a screw. All MJs are wired for this feature. Image Not Found
  8. Ahh, I remember now Bo, thanks. That is one fine looking rig. When I saw that truck I got the hots for the 97 clip. But I want to retain my front chrome bumper, and have only found one pic over on NAXJA for someone who did. I like it also except for the front flare treatment. But understand why as there is nothing to bolt the leading edge to using the new front fenders unless an extension panel was fabbed. Image Not Found
  9. I use an angle finder on the ball joint face, both sides. But don't know if you can do that on a ZJ. :dunno:
  10. Yep, I think that's it. What is your caster?
  11. Got an angle finder? Sounds like you don't have enough caster, like it's been lifted w/o shimming out the LCAs back where they should be.
  12. If you have chrome up front and none in the back or vice-versa; looks bad. BUT since you have a NOS chrome rear bumper, the 97 front cries out for a chrome grille. That would look great in any color, especially black. Marvelous, simply marvelous. Didn't the Laredo MJ chrome bumpers have silver end caps? Image Not Found BTW, who's truck is this? I love it. MJOTM!
  13. I think painting the plastics looks like crap too. Maybe looks okay on a late model car, but not on a square bodied MJ. Ryan, why don't you just repaint it your original color? I think that would look super. With a chrome grille.
  14. RDG indeed. :D If I paint the chrome Jake, it will be w. chrome paint. Let me know mate.
  15. I believe these only came on the 86 model MJs and police XJs with column shift and AW4 auto transmissions. Looking for the column indicator, bezel, pointer, bracketry, and internal illumination light, like in the pic below. I know, hard to find, but I figure someone like Jimoshel with a herd of MJs might have one. Will pay any reasonable price.
  16. I have rear disks and the load leveling valve regulates the rear brake bias just as it did with the drums. Just had to lengthen the rod a bit and tune it in.
  17. If you can, look in the inside of the WJ wheels and the offset/ backspacing, part number, etc. is stamped on the wheel. Usually the BS is in in millimeters. About 90mm AFAIR.
  18. This is one well thought out build. Great attention to detail and your rig exemplifies the careful planning that went into it.
  19. 92 4WD Eliminator. Hmmmm, wonder if it has a D44? Maybe I'll go take a look; it's not too far............
  20. It had no effect on the load leveling valve for me. But lifting it does as it shortens the rod. The rod should be extended by the same amount as the height of the lift. EDIT: Jim beat me to it. :D

    Lightning!

AAAAARG! Thanks for the reminder guys. I do have an APC Back-UPS 500 installed on my system, but the modem cable was not hooked up through the surge protection jacks. Must have disconnected it for some reason in the past and forgotten to hook it back up. It is now. And I do have a good regulation ground wire and rod at the service entrance. We get a lot of lightning and tornadoes this time of year. I hate the bastids.........

    Lightning!

What a freaking nightmare. Last Tuesday night a herd of thunder/lightning storms ran through. One of the lightning bolts sounded like it hit the house. A little smoke came out of the breaker box and two breakers tripped, but amazingly we didn't lose power or landline telephone. BUT we lost Internet and cable TV. I have ADSL from a local provider, and the lightning fried my Zoom X6 combo modem/wireless router, and the Ethernet port on the motherboard. I turned off the Ethernet port in the BIOS, and purchased an internal Ethernet card, hooked up a spare modem, and am back in business. Except for cable TV - that's still out. I'm lucky more damage didn't occur. So, besides pulling the ADSL cable when storms are in the AO, how can I protect myself from this crap in the future?

Love to see the little Butler Bulldog knock off the Husky tonight.

    A good day:

Yes, still some variables, but an excellent starting point. Explorer and WJ nominal rotor thickness I can find online; but don't know about the offset, a definite factor. I've never found anything about anyone doing a "big brake" front conversion on a late MJ model 2WD, so this is new. Maybe the Archers did something back in the day? Most importantly is KISS for me. Could be a good 2WD front brake upgrade solution. Homework time.
