  2. For what and how much lift? Your 88?

    Wd-41???? Wow!

Man, that would be great stuff for coating underground basement walls.
  4. Thanks for the link. If you have the Ford links handy, could you stick a tape measure on for the eye-to-end length? Just curious how much longer they are than the 1992+ stock links. At your leisure of course.
  5. I have never heard of sing the Ford F350 rear links. Sounds like a good choice to me. How long are they?
  6. Agree, give him a Germanic name to honor his ancestors, like Fritz, Dirk, Max, or Wolfgang (Wolf for short).
  7. I like Forever Black products for exterior plastics and trim. It's not a paint but a dye that requires little prep and looks great. Mothers Back to Black is okay, but Forever Black is better. Easier to apply, looks more natural, and lasts longer. Damn, I sound like a commercial. But I do like it. http://www.foreverblack.com/
  8. You're welcome. Search for it then.
  9. This may help. Search the forum - there are many better pics of the MJ brackets throughout.
  10. The entire PT Cruiser was freaking stupid.

    Uss Alabama:

Looks like the exhaust design changes were fubar. Someone's gonna swing for that. Well, that's what sea trials and shakedown cruises are for. Enjoy the $$ Sam. Been on many sea trails in the past but as a crew member. No special pay, O/T, or other bennies for moi back then. Learned quickly where the $$ lay.
  12. I don't think it's a fuel problem. It sounds like a delayed transition from open to closed loop where it's switching back and forth until full warmup. Check the O2 sensor harness for obvious damage from exhaust heat, and verify it's connector is clean and tight. If all looks okay, then I'd replace the O2 sensor. It probably needs it anyhow, and there's really no reliable way to test it's operation except by replacement.
  13. Glad I got mine back in 05. The 4.6L with your choice of cam and other options was about $2800 back then. I wouldn't even consider one it now for nearly $5K. Yet they are still selling them nearly as fast as they can build them all over the world. Should tell you something about their reputation and reliability.
  14. My mileage stayed roughly the same overall. Went down from 16MPG to 14MPG in town (mainly due to heavy right foot syndrome), yet highway went up from up 18MPG to nearly 21MPG. I was pleasantly surprised by that.
  15. I believe Larry is referring to the Keith Black KB-944 piston family. These "new" pistons (came out in 2008 IIRC) make it possible to use the 4.0 rods and still keep the piston head below the head deck plane for proper quench w/o detonation. Before these you had to use the 4.2 rods, do a lot of machining, or a combination of both to get the correct quench. You still need the 4.2 crank for a stroker. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/uem-kb944-030
  16. Yep, agree, it's overpriced as MJs usually are here. But it does drive and stop nice, and since it's a 92, thought I'd post it up. That reminds me - have to go back and get the VIN.

Not sure exactly, might leave in the next day or two, or be around through the end of next week. Y'all conducting smoke tests during the sea trails Sam? http://www.military.com/daily-news/2013/04/15/burned-lcs-to-resume-testing.html?ESRC=navy.nl

The Massachusetts, the Alabama's sister ship, is right down the road from you Jim.
  19. http://huntsville.craigslist.org/cto/3741080347.html I went and looked at this since it was a 92 Sportruck and it was only a mile away. Here's some pics: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Runs/drives well. 2.5L w. 5-speed. 2WD, Dana 35. Body is solid, but needs paint (obviously) and driver floor pan. Interior pretty good. According to seller: New clutch and tires two weeks ago. 180K on odometer, new engine 70K ago. Engine looks clean and it idles well. Started sanding body in prep for paint. Purchased from original owner. Claims he gets 30 MPG. Reason for selling: He needs an auto tranny due to bad knees. He's asking $2.4K but will take less I'm sure. Seller's name is Mark. And no, I didn't meet this guy until today.

A little more than two miles, more like 23. Oops, you're right. My bad.
  21. Get a 3'-4' piece of 1/2" or so vacuum hose. Since it's temp related, get the noise going again (in the afternoon ?) or whenever it makes the noise. Stick one end of the hose in your ear and probe with the other end at all belt driven devices. That'll get you in the ballpark. Also, check the bell housing underneath with your hose "listening device". Sounds like a cracked flexplate problem I once had.

Tremendous firepower yes, in it's day. Battleships have been dinosaurs for decades. Even though the 16" main guns can lob a shell weighing as much as a VW over two miles, a small Seawolf class fast attack submarine fifty miles away can run it down undetected in ten minutes and sink it with one torpedo. Or sink it from fifty miles away with a Tomahawk missile. They sure are neat to look at though.
