Most any XJ/MJ 2.5 you will find for cheap in your neck of the woods will be high mileage, maintenance intensive, and have terminal rottus maximus. If you find a nice one with low mileage, the price will be high and it's cost will be on a par with the 4.0's. For a few more MPG it doesn't make good economic sense to get another old Jeep 2.5 even if you could find one. I don't know how long your high commute jobs coming up will be, but it would make more sense to me to swallow your Jeep pride and pick up a 10-15 year old Toyota, Nissan, or even a Suzuki commuter. Good used Suzuki's are going for next to nothing now since they stopped importing them, and they run forever. Plus the mileage and reliability will blow any Jeep 2.5 away for a whole lot less $$ overall.
