  1. I don't get excited by what anyone says Dirty. Even you. As far as MJ HO incompatibility, that's not quite right. Of course HO MJs all have OBD1 systems, and it's more difficult than adding forced induction to a 97 and up OBD2 4.0 since they are more standardized and easier to tune. Adding superchargers to 4.0 Jeeps has been done for years. Hesco ran an Eaton M90 on an OBD1 MJ back in the 90s and it's still going strong AFAIK. Plenty of kits available now online too too, like HERE. Looks like they are even "developing" one for the early MJs. Renix MJs? Maybe. Lot's of luck with that.
  2. Was this your Miata? Do you drink Heineken? :rotfl2:
  3. No problem. It is a bit confusing. HO temp gauge: Sensor on cylinder head HO ECU: Sensor on thermostat housing HO aux fan: Off/on controlled by ECU Renix temp gauge: Sensor on cylinder head Renix ECU: Sensor on engine block Renix aux fan: Off/on controlled by sensor in the radiator
  4. You're wrong. The OP has a 91 HO, not a Renix.
  5. Which coolant temp sensor? The one in the thermostat housing that feeds the ECU, or the one on the left rear cylinder head for the dash temp gauge?
  6. That's an odd one. How did you troubleshoot and find that?
  7. Since you have a 92 OBD1 truck and you don't know it's history, check for fault codes soon. Might save you some grief later. http://comancheclub.com/topic/28111-reading-obdi-91-and-92-mj-fault-codes/

    Snowpocalypse

The snow just stopped here and maybe we have an 1-1/2" on the ground. The roads look clear except the bridges and overpasses are slick. We got all snow flurries, but down south around Birmingham it's mostly freezing rain. I'd rather have the snow. And the temp isn't getting above freezing it looks like until next Monday so it's going to stay like this for awhile.
  9. Halogen headlamps have been around since the early 60's, but not legally in North America. They were mandatory most everywhere else. Never understood why. They would have prevented a lot of night time accidents and saved many lives. :shake:
  10. Have you ever used it John?
  11. Chinese decelerometer. :rotfl2:
  12. My horns are not ignition switched either - always hot.
  13. Agree. If the shop who is doing the repair is good, just for grins see if you can cut a deal for the brake lines while it's there in the shop. Will save you some hassle........
  14. I agree with the second line; Mopar coulda / shoulda kept the knock sensor input to the ECU. But the rest is BS. :P
  15. By using an external controller wired into the ECU harness, like A Unichip or Split Second FTC. But that ain't going to work with a Renix. That's why I asked you above how you are going to tune it...........
  16. Si. They are made in Italy, or at least they were then. The motors were a little larger and they are about twice as fast as the Mopar regulators.
  17. Old post of mine from 07 below. Unfortunately the regulators are more expensive now, but they are still going strong.
  18. Pull parts 13, 14, & 15, then re-install the horn with all the parts under the button (4-10) and see if it's still grounding (honking). That will isolate where the ground is making contact.
  19. Way to go Knuck! It's been nice to see you progress from a green newbie to a solid well-rounded "MJ guy" who is always ready and willing to share his knowledge with the group. And your couple of Johnny Cash "get tough or die" situations really helped to flatten the MJ learning curve. Congrats on your Jan 2017 MJOTM selection.
  20. Got a plan how you're going to tune the M90 on a Renix system?
  21. Good troubleshooting. If you even need any switches I have a ton of them. I had the left side power window switch that controlled the right window self-destruct internally a few weeks ago with no visible damage on the switch housing. That was fun trying to find where the problem was.
  22. Aw crap. It won't fit in my garage. That means I'll have to get a JK pickup next year........
  23. I'd rather have the Clifford intake with twin Weber 38's, HEI ignition and no computer.
  24. "Bama Sux" I could handle, but I'd have to renege if I lost the "Renix Rules" bet Mike. :rotfl2:
  25. Good first post. RMFT, no worries.
