What are these seats from ?
HOrnbrod replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you don't like them, I'll take them off your hands. -
Cheap bastids. You have to be very sick if you don't love this. Not a "work" truck by any means, but who buys trucks for work now anyhow? Maybe 10% max of the total? I agree though about the proposed 4DR JK truck. That is ugly maximus.

Glundblad's (Gary) 1987 4DR XJ seats in his MJ Chief      I'd kill for these............ -
Canada has always had great variations of cars and trucks that looked different than our domestic stuff, especially the 60's-80's GM vehicles. The trim to me always looked better than the American vehicles. I remember my Dad bought a truck like the below when we lived in VT close to the border when I was a kid. He loved Mercurys. To our Canadian members: Do you still see any Mercury pickups running around up there?

 I'm going for NOS Mopar parts like I always do. Wait! Mopar ball joints are made by Spicer. Hope they make one in my size.

I had a similar surgery about 20 years ago. I couldn't raise my left arm up more than 50%. Cervical disk deterioration as I recall. They put titanium plates and screws in my shoulder. It took a couple of months before I had full range with my arm, but I've never had shoulder problems again. Again, left side, same as the knee. Hmmm.....

Thanks for all the great comments guys; some encouraging, some not so. I've been on steroids, NSAID's, and happy pills for a week or so now, and the knee feels almost normal on level ground. I spent the whole day working on the MJ and it's still feeling good. I can even do stairs now without stopping on each one. Going in Tuesday for scans and the final diagnosis, so we'll see. I sure don't want to be cut on if I don't have to.

Looks good Dirty, and fits in well. Looks like you have one of the 86 and below silver dash bezels. The silver color on them looks much more realistic to me than the newer "spray paint look" of the newer ones.

I'm sure that will be a problem for me too......

I've had trouble with my left knee ever since a high school basketball injury about a hundred years ago. Just got back from a "knee" specialist, and he recommends a replacement. Of course he does. I was afraid this might happen. I have no idea what it entails, how much downtime is involved, etc. etc. and don't know anyone who has been through it. Has anyone here been through this procedure? It doesn't sound like it would be much fun at all, kind of like a big ball joint replacement.......

The 86 V6 is the worst MJ ever made.

Aftermarket fog light wiring
HOrnbrod replied to Master7122's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I like to make most all of my harnesses when I add stuff instead of using old wiring from a wreck. The OEM wiring was barely adequate at best, and the older it is the worse it gets. I made harnesses for the power mirrors, windows, trailer harness, the fogs, and others I've forgotten about always using higher gauge wire than the factory did and new connectors whenever possible. EDIT: Someone here was redoing the entire factory wiring system on his rig awhile back, and it looked promising with some good ideas. Posted some good schematics that made good sense. Anyone remember who that was? -
Get the VIN and run a Carfax report.

Good idea - I'll take care of it.

To carry on this theme: http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2017/01/jeep-is-helping-make-america-great-again.html Let's hope this all happens. More jobs and more Jeeps.

That is way cool. But no exterior rear door handle? :dunno: But it is just a prototype..........

Aftermarket fog light wiring
HOrnbrod replied to Master7122's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here's how I did it using the dash fog lamp switch and p/o the existing harness. This is for a 91; your wire colors may not be the same. -
Back on topic: Clemson Tigers 35 Alabama Crimson Tide 31 Good game and congrats Tigers. Game over.

Good school, but hardly the best. That distinction belongs to MIT with Stanford a close second. Might be the best in cheap tuition costs though.

Must be ITI Tech in Baton Rouge. :dunno:

Installing JK Wrangler Shocks
HOrnbrod replied to jerpderp's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Excellent - I didn't know that. I have a set of the JK Rubicon shocks waiting to go on my Sahara when the originals wear out. Maybe I better go look at them. Also, do you remember where you sourced the BPEs for the front lower shock ends? -
Yep. Nothing is forever. Bama will be back next year with a better QB who can pass and isn't barely 18 years old. Even then they almost pulled it off until the last second. ACC. And what are you crowing about? There's no team from LA in the ACC.

Installing JK Wrangler Shocks
HOrnbrod replied to jerpderp's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Excellent writeup and pics. The rear JK shocks have the same bushing for both upper and lower mounts, so if the lower bush will slide on, why do you need a replacement bush for the upper? The MJ rear shock studs are identical. Also if you could publish the compressed JK shock lengths that would be helpful. This one's headed for the DIY forum. EDIT: Done -
intermittent no start problems 87 4.0 auto
HOrnbrod replied to mik666's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
New fresh starter motors always sound different since the bearings and solenoid linkage are well, new and tight. They also usually crank a lot faster than the one it replaced because the mains connections are cleaner with less resistance. And all Jeep AW4 NSS's are the same.
