  2. :dunno: huh? - ya. i'm not seeing it. ---???
  3. they are amazingly expensive here. -i saw a guy at napa pay about that same amount for one for a 3 cyl pontiac firefly!! here's some pics from sat to cheer you up. http://weekendwheeling.com/index.php?topic=1097.30
  4. wow that blows my mind and double anything i have around here.
  5. gorgeous ! what's the elevation?
  6. congrats devon! now be careful !!!
  7. Interesting. Cheap copies. Jeep never made a mirror like that. those are the same mirrors that are on my '95, but yet the ones on my '92 and '91 both fold and are spring-loaded. -the 86 ones are spring-loaded too.
  8. needs a red grill.
  9. similar set-up as me. i have the 2.5 5spd, 4:10 gears, 32" 11.5 tires and the shackles and the wj control arms. i think you are still gonna require fender trimming -even just for driving on the street. you might get away with just some minor trimming of the rear of the front flairs though- and you will have no problem with the back wheels. be prepared for a power loss on hills too.
  10. I'm the same way. my truck never leaves this little town and doesnt go on the highway so i just took them right off BUT if i was going to be driving at highway speeds i would definitely have them on. it is totally unsafe not to have them on when travelling at speed and even at low speed driving around town I'm thinking that not having them on is promoting tire-wear. from my understand, the ones off a TJ are about 2" longer, and the ones from a later XJ are 1-2' longer ( not sure of the exact lengths but easy to find out) they are probably perfect for your purposes.
  11. for what its worth, before i got into these MJs i could barely check my own oil ( ok , thats a bit of an exaggeration , but not too much), but after being around this forum for a couple of years i am pretty sure i know exactly what i would do in your situation. i would find out the gear ratio - you probably know it by now but if not find out. -then i would phone a larger auto wrecker and ask for a chrysler 8.25 from an xj cherokee with that gear ratio and either go and get it or have it shipped. then i would put it in your truck and take it to a reputable mechanic along with 2 new perches (that are about $10. each). leave it while you go for lunch and then go pay him his 2 hrs or whatever and thats it. done.
  12. ok, after some mis-communication it turns out the 9" is from a 60s car (havnt found out what model yet) , 63" from wheel mount to wheel mount. hes not sure if it's a 28 spline or 31 spline. --- $100. aparently 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. ----------- thoughts ?
  13. yes. - don't pay more than 200 -250 for it and tell yourself that youre building it to sell.
  14. 3" in the front, about 4.5" in the rear. --------- 32" tires,
  15. nope ------- just the 'burb main + 3. they are 56" -- perfect for your purposes.
  16. i just got about 4-1/2" on an soa using chevy suburban leafs (they are flatter like xjs and the same sizes, - lenght, width, thickness). great ride! i used the chevy main +3 leafs and the mj bottom over-load. so there's that.........
  17. what a gorgeous example! all the right stuff.
  18. i don't understand most of this -but i'll add to the confusion
  19. thanks correy. now that you mention it, i think youre on to something with the clutch. again, the last few days its starting to grind a bit (but just a little) when going into reverse. might be a really good call on your part. i will keep an eye on it over the next little while and see if its time for a clutch. and thank you minkyboy. youve given some good info as well.
  20. i like the sound of that dakota option. last few days its seemed like shifting just isnt as good as it was (kinda slow) and my other jeeps always seemed to feel a bit more "positive".
  21. the 2.5 is '86 and the tranny is '95. there is a 5 spd in there now. - (ba 5?).
  22. does anyone know what would be the lowest gear ratio i could get into a d30 that would be otherwise stock except for the big spicer u-joints. just thinking about this 9" that came out of a yj. havnt looked closely at it yet but i have the eliminator that is crying for new diffs and i am thinking long arms and stuff, plus 35s -or better. just exploring options for now with cost also being a factor. - already taking into consideration the cost of re-gearing both axles. trails are extremely tight in this part of the world and i would really like to crawl - for relatively cheap. 4.88s ? 5.somethings?
