  1. this is mine with 3" springs in front with trimmed fenders, soa in rear with mj mains and chevy suburban leafs.
  2. do the spring-over with stock springs. you will be sitting pretty. - don't forget to relocate your shock-mounts or figure what you're going to do there.

that blue one looks good. - what about the red one beside it ?
  4. yes, but those are off-set wheels so the clearance in the front isnt as it would be with stock wheels.
  5. you will regret not getting that bumper. ----- also the zj pitman arm might come in handy at some point too.
  6. make sure you clean those rims first. also, with that castle-nut ......., check that out but how's the ball joints? --------- and where abouts on van isle?
  7. where is that ? - it sorta looks like my neighbourhood. and what have you done for a gas -tank?
  8. i think it will be mostly a minor process. --- its a great truck that needs to be driven to get the bugs out ( although a few dollars may have to be spent). a few things i would look at right away are getting the front tires balanced, check the trac-bar at both ends, and see about the steering u-joints. ( is there rusty coloured dust around one or both of them --that was the popping sound that my 89 made -they were shot!). as far as being difficult to shift goes, that may be caused by the fact that its revving higher than it should ( mine was doing that too) and that in turn is most likely a sensor that needs replacing. get it diagnosed. drive it alot and good luck.

  10. that could just be the way it appears in the pic, but the xj looks like its sitting at 4 and 3/4", so 32-33" tires.- what about control arms?
  11. i see lots of potential and it seems to have a few goodies too. -- what running gear? rear end? interior? after a good cleaning out and stuff you will be able to make it "yours". if it runs good your already off to a good start. maybe some rattle-can paint and front end treatment. the gas tank that he gave you may be one from a short-box. keep us posted!
  12. correct pat. here's the link: http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showth ... 107&page=3

  14. sorry -too sleepy ......................... plus, meant it for "random _ _ _ the internet".
  15. havnt lost any fluid, and the wheel cylinders LOOK ok. can't wait to try another booster (thanks guys). but not looking forward to the job of changing it over ---especially with the crap weather we've been having lately.
  16. but i would also check the balance on the front tires.
  17. I'm sorry to hear about those troubles ( and feel a touch responsible too). it's gotta be something simple (too simple for complicated comanche people, lol). you said you had just had a wheel bearing replaced before this started? ------ who did the bearing? --- I'm thinkin that its gotta be that ----or the other side one maybe ...... i have been battling some "mystery-symptoms" too - with some help from this board. - does it do it all the time? - only at certain speeds? - pull the cover off and inspect teeth?
  18. saw this locally (kinda)
  19. :agree: I'm with Pete. Both my xj and the mj have exhibited the same symptom, on the xj it felt like the pedal would drop about an inch suddenly. Probably will get worse, mine did. i thought possibly the master or even the calipers, but did not consider the booster. my first guess was maybe wheel cylinders but what you guys are saying makes sense. i have a 95 booster laying around and have been planning to do that mod anyway ( and maybe even use the xj distribution block) but the weather is so bad here right now, - is there anyway to check the booster to be sure ?
  20. I'm baffled. about 20 - 40 % of the time that I'm braking hard the pedal drops down about an inch and it feels like something bad is going on. -the rest of the time its perfectly fine and normal. i had a look at the brakes front and back today and couldnt see anything that didnt look right but it seems to be getting worse and more often the last couple of days. i can't even tell if its coming from the front or the back but today when it did it it was like you could feel the pedal pulsing with the rotation of the wheels. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? i cannot always duplicate this and sometimes its just fine. but when its not -its really not!
  21. :agree: i've had something similar to this in for over a year. works great,- just leave it in. makes a lot more sense than those cable-thingys (unless you need 2wd low for some reason).
  22. this guy called and wanted to trade me that for my '89. he had a lot of cool pics of it. did a whole photo-shoot, but it didnt have anything special for running gear and wasn't something i wanted.
  23. for added coolness you could get a decal for it. (eliminator, pioneer, w/e). or put a 4x4 emblem in the correct '87 location.
  24. i say good for you for being good to yourself. and congrats.
