Running Rubicon 17's On Their Mj
Sir Sam replied to Bornindesert's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was using the XJ D30, I took the WJ knuckles, hubs, brakes, and rotors when I was mocking it all up to see if thats the route I wanted to go. I think that if you do that you will need the spacer that everyone talks about in the WJ to XJ swap threads. Definitely do a test mockup with some downtime to order the right parts. I ended up not doing it because I found some 5x4.5 mtrs/moabs to replace the 1 bad moab/mtr I had. -
Running Rubicon 17's On Their Mj

I put some on my XJ for a short time not by using adapters but by using WJ front brake components, this is advantagious since it gets you higher steering, crossover steering, big brakes and keeps the axles a little narrower. -
I'm glad I live in colorado. The only three leaved greens and smoke around come from weed.

Was talking to a family friend who went to the dakotas, the problem there is that because theres a huge demand for workers, prices for everything skyrocket. He was paying close to $2000/month for a small apartment. I am seriously considering this though, work just got slow again at the shop, and at the capstar rig in UT, they house and feed you. Work schedule is 16 hour days, 14 days on, 14 off. I think it would be good experience...and two weeks net pay is more than ive made the past 4 months...Biggest issue is getting out there. KC to Denver isnt too bad, its denver to Ft. Duchesne that may be a problem without a car Same happens in west texas, big prices because of the sudden demand for housing. Save your money, buy $5000 motorhome, live like king. My dad lives in a VW van out in california by choice, way cheaper to buy a van than to rent an apartment!

The way I hear it north dakota oil fields and west texas oil fields have lots of demand for guys to work there. Pay is good etc. Might be something to do for a couple of years to set aside some money and then move onto something else. My perception of it is that its hard, dirty, dangerous work that will slowly tear apart your body if you try to do it longterm. That might just be my perception. EDIT: Also, its historically Boom and Bust. Things were grate in the early to mid 80's, then prices just feel out and those oil related industry's were hit hard. Same thing happened around the economic slowdown in 08, oil was hit hard for awhile. That type of work just stopped. Then it picked back up and the money is flying again.

Nice! I picked up quite a few diesel jeep parts out of the UK for my swap purposes.

Ever seen a dude with chinese of japanese characters tattooed on em? Same idea. At least in japan you still see lots of english characters over controls like AC and such........

Subaru makes really nice small engines in the lawnmower weedeater size range too, I'm not sure why you don't see more of them.

The 2500, both the jeep branded and the BAW branded has SFA, the updated s12 does have IFS......we are assuming is a toyota derivative based on the looks of the rear end and the other toyota clones they make.

Is that XJpetes old MJ? I thought he ended up painting it that color..... For those not in the know that is the Jeep2500 front clip(which is also on my MJ project), in jan of 2012 they updated the chinese cherokee again with a newer front end and a newer dash, as well as put in toyota running gear, check it out: 2500: http://colorado4wheel.com/content/Jeep2500.html S12: http://colorado4wheel.com/images/BAW_S12/

Use imgur, make an account, upload pictures, and it will even give you the code to copy and paste. imgur.com

The KJ CRD uses the valve for EGR operation, like you mentioned, but also during shutdown to smooth the engine out. There are all sorts of debates about it being used as a safety device for overspeed/runaway conditions with nothing conclusive out there.

Are you getting a paper copy or a PDF?

I paid less than that for my NV3550. Pass. Plus thats an internal slave AX15. I did a car-part.com search for an external slave AX-15 and found one from a 96 45 miles from Napa CA for $500 and one from a 99 for $424.

Damm dude a working horn? You are doing better than my VW right now.

Figuring out and stripping down wiring harnesses is always a PITA. But once you get reference material you can start just stepping through it...... This is my latest form of punishment:
-
What about using visio for making your own wiring diagrams? At least in my case I just have all Jeep to Jeep stuff, but yours is going to be somewhat nightmarish without good reference material, that was the biggest thing that kept me from going forward with some of that export only stuff. The nissan ZD30 engine seems pretty sweet, but getting reference material would be a PITA, but at least there are aussies out there with that engine.
-
With the wiring I would start by doing a bunch of loop checks, that will at least help you get started by making pinout for all your different connectors, injectors, etc. Might see if you can find some aussie owners forums for mazda's and ask around there. 4wd plans? divorced transfer case? I've been eyeing the nissan RD28 engines, older ones non EFI, and will boltup to pathfinder transmissions.

looks kinda nissan to me, can I see more pics? Bellhousing bolt pattern?
