Do you have the ability to stamp any off the "Jeep" lettering found in the side body panels? And if so would you be interested in setting up with a distributor to sell these stampings in the US? I refer to stampings such as these:

They work out great, very pleased with them:

Ha, I'll let the GF know that's what she reminds you of.

I've been exploring Moab for over 15 years and there is still stuff I haven't seen yet.

Took the syncro out on friday night, lost my exhaust bolt and gasket on #3 cylinder going up eisenhower pass, noisy rattly all the way to moab and back. Slept out in rabbit valley friday night and then headed toward Moab saturday morning. Drove in through Arches then hit Moab brewery and then headed back out to the potash road. I had planned to take potash road into Canyonlands to check out mussleman arch and then up the schaffer trail to Island in the sky and then drop down into mineral bottom for Saturday night. The weather set us back and the Schaffer trail was closed so we ended up camping just a little ways past the Potash mine. Sunday we headed up into Island in the sky for a bit and then back towards home. Stopped by Dalton wells road and checked out the remains of the Japanese WWII interment camp there before heading on back to CO. Took a break in Palisade and checked out a Meadery and a Winery. Got home late Sunday. That's odd, I wonder how it lost the title, round here suicide/homicide cars still have titles.

Eh, if you have to put a motor in it (and thats a used motor not new) plus a belt job, and all the other little things, you would be trying to break even on it or making $1000. See the vids I sent ya, it sounds like it might be a rocker issue, in which case it would be an easy fix.
-
If I knew that it was just a timing belt + rocker job it would be a good deal. But lets look at it worst case scenario, it needs a new engine. Are you willing to spend $3500 for a Jeep and then $3500-4500 for an engine for it? You can have the steering column unlocked and the key not be on iirc.
-
Hmmm, odd. Anyways. Ya I looked at that one. Without knowing more I hesitate to venture a guess, its completely possible that the belt slipped and trashed the rockers, in which case you are talking about about $1000 worth of parts and for a first timer about 3-5 days of work to get it done. Its also possible they messed something up when towing, ie put the transfer case in 4 hi or something, or left the tranny in neutral. That whole part about the mileage being lower because it was towed is BS, these things only count mileage when the key was turned to on. and I don't see why they would turn the key to on for hours to tow it behind an RV. You could ask if the timing belt was replaced. Does it even run now? If it does what does it sound like. What happened when it stopped running right, etc. If you could get it cheap enough you could get a deal on it, if you are really lucky it will just be a timing belt job + rockers. For me thats about 8-10 hours of teardown, and about 14 hours of reassembly, count that for you it would take twice as long as a first timer.

done.

Ya, I think you must have activated the SKIM circuits in the new donor ECU now(I don't think that should have happened without turning the key to on, but must have). You could get that removed, but it will cost about $125 to get the computer reflashed to remove it. Just get some keys copied, and goto the dealer with the vin for the old vehicle and ask them for the PIN number, this will make it easier to program new keys in the future should you need it.
-
You can get the SKIM key copied at any ace hardware for less than $20. Couple of things to help me, back up for a second and lets be clear about what is where. What vehicle was the donor and what vehicle was the recipient? What combination of stuff from what vehicle went into your current configuration. The only real way to delete the SKIM system is to get the ECU flashed to not use it. Which will cost more than several new keys. The SKIM module is the receiver with halo antenna that sits around the key tumbler.

on the diesels its just the BCM and the SKIM, I think on the gasser is the BCM ECU and SKIM, but that would seem to be contrary to what you are observing, thats pretty odd. Only other thing I can think of would be the ACM, but that doesn't make sense to me. But you said "as the renegade was" if there renegade had a SKIM and it was disconnected that different than the renegade just not having it.
-
Ya pretty much, I think there are some stupid little things like needing to add nutzerts/threaded bolt holes. I think the front subframe is different too. But you should have all your donor stuff for it.
-
Not really. It's actually just a massive heim I pulled out of the scrap bin at work.
-
Its just between you and me.......
-
That's 3k for a syncro?
-
How much did he want for it? Still for sale?
-
Man if you can find a good deal on a syncro grab it. There are always cheap old air cooled westys that come through, good cheap syncros are hard to find. Get a cheap camper for the top and cabinets, then new carpets and some interior. And you can be rocking a nice van.

Show em some pics for motivation: http://colorado4wheel.com/content/ak/

Yup, they are tons of fun in a camper version. We have a 91 that we converted to a camper and took up to alaska and back, I have an 86 weekender I am fixing up right now as a flip, and then I have this 87 syncro and 87 westy that are going together. This is what you can do in a lowered 2WD van with crappy street tires: Yukon River: Further north: Man made river of oil: The copper river: But another van beat me down to the river: The bearing sea/port of valdez during the salmon run: Then again, maybe a frozen river is better: Nah, lets go back to the ocean: And lets say hi to captain jim: Of course there are always more glaciers around:

This guy does: So long story short I've had this thing a few years and haven't gotten around to working on it, back in Dec I finally ordered a new clutch for it and spent the time to get that in. During the process of getting the clutch in it kind of snowballed and I ended up needing something else and then something else and so on. So after fighting little thing after another little thing I finally got it back on the road today. New clutch, new starter, resealed cooling system, new clutch slave and master cylinders, new locker actuator and one solid test drive later and it looks like I'm gonna start rocking this thing tomorrow. Working rear diff locker! (unfortunately my van didn't come with a front locker or decoupler). I had to JB weld in my starter pilot bushing, this should have been a press fit but because of how the bellhousing bolts broke I think the starter ate away the bushing and wallowed out the hole. Rebuilt bosch starter, I've had to strike it with a hammer twice already.
