Pending deal! important
Gjeep replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a '92 4.0L running a '89 ax-15 & NP231. No issues. -
Navy blue was available (though hard to find -- '87-'90 Pioneer & up XJ), Cordovan (burgundy), tan, black, gray. I'm sure you know this, but you can easily paint them to match your interior whatever color you choose.

True Don -- the most this 4wd will probably see is Tahoe snow. Main reason for the conversion (other than I wanted another MJ 4x4 just because) is to see the behind-end of an RV. You can see the bottom side of an RV tow bar in my front suspension photo. Can't tow a 2wd 5-speed for more than 100 miles w/o doing damage to the transmission...hence the 4wd for the "neutral". My only other 4x4 is my work in progress '89. My 2 XJ's are both 2wd.

I am just looking for the female end belt/ buckles for driver and passenger side BENCH seat in GRAY. I do not need the shoulder belts. Thanks. I am located in California.

Been a while since I posted progress of my '92. Currently in the middle of a 4wd conversion - Just finished the clutch, external slave conversion, and NP231 install. Replaced the factory shifter with a Hurst short-throw and running the Novak transfer case cable/ linkage. Axles are geared at 3.55, with cross drilled rotors in front. Chrome grille, bumpers, TJ canyon rims, and an '01 XJ roof rack on the camper shell have been installed. XJ Sport door panels, factory power windows/ door locks, modified XJ overhead console, and cruise control round out interior improvements. This MJ is going to stay at factory ride height.

A Window Regulator question.
Gjeep replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
97+ XJ regulators are not a bolt in, but will work if you drill new mounting holes and shim certain of those holes properly. I'm guessing you're looking to do the full window conversion. For what it's worth, the Bejing XJ (power) window regulators fit the "old" style XJ door regulator holes exactly (because they use the older doors). You will require with these to create a simple mounting bracket to use the 97+ Xj window with them. -

1991 4.0L daily driver/weekend wheeler build
Gjeep replied to adam518's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
adam518 - I'm in the middle of a 4wd conversion for my 92 MJ. Ax-15, 231 case. Got the Novak shift kit and like you the bracket that attaches to the studs of the case wouldn't fit without trimming at the top corner. AND the bracket that attaches to the tranny tunnel isn't shaped correctly to fit flush against the MJ. Basically one of the bracket ends is curved in the wrong direction "poking into" the body. Did you have this problem also? Thanks -
Did a search on the web, etc. Wanted to see what kind of grease to use for the Ax-15 input shaft? High-temp grease? Looks like something else was used previously. Advice?
-
BigHause- Glad you got everything wired up. I'm the guy the provided you some diagram assistance with that. I can't remember if we also talked about the R134 conversion. I did some research on this way back when I was going to run the Renix R12 ac system with 134a. Know that you really should have converted to "barrier" style hose to run the new refrigerant, but old R12 hoses should work well enough since the R12 coats the inside of the hose after many years of service and provides a barrier of sorts. R-134a compatible seals or o-rings are hopefully what you replaced the originals with, inaddition to coating them with Nylog O-Ring Lubricant during assembly. You also need to swap out the oil that's in your compressor (BVA100 ester oil recommended). Critical for compressor life expectancy running 134a. Check out/ search ackits.com forum. It's a great resource.

Did you buy that truck in Gilroy off Church Street? Looks exactly like the one I'd see behind car wash in alley.

'88 MJ short bed Olympic edition. 2wd, AW4 column shift bench seat. Lots of good parts - interior dk blue. Bed of truck is dent free. Factory rear step bumper decent (mostly straight).
-
You can fit the OEM shift boot over the HURST boot with no issues; however the XJ metric shift knob will not work. The Wrangler YJ shift knob screws right on and looks OEM. If you need a Mopar pn# I can dig it up for you.
-
I know you're asking about a specific short throw shifter...But as a side note - I'm running the Hurst AX-15 short shrow billet shifter with both my AX-15's and love it.
-
Thanks Don. Sharp looking Eliminator Rich. Impressive. Was the body mostly straight to begin with? Mine's going under the knife mid-February. Doing the external slave conversion on the AX-15.

CA: FYI Sacramento pick n pull
Gjeep replied to Gjeep's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
"Them" what? The trucks themselves? No idea if PNP does that. Call their phone # at the Sacramento location. -
91 MJ LB 4-cyl, 5-spd, NP231... fuel tank sender gone, interior gray with bench seat, tailgate straight (truck is a repaint). 86 MJ LB 4-cyl, 5-spd, NP 231... XLS edition; good shape, MJ specific Stampede brand (?) high rise camper shell in great shape.

xj curved seat bracket in mj?
Gjeep replied to xComancheKidx's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I tried/ did this. Removed the "rocker" curved bracket from the XJ seat base and put it on the MJ seat base. You will sit way too high to be comfortable useless you are truly a midget. And I'm not very tall at 5'8. not a worthwhile mod.
