  1. Slowly continuing to put the MJ back together between work, kids and life… Engine is nearly together. I found that upgrading to the 97+ XJ intake makes for fun routing the fuel lines to the fuel rail. Basically, the fuel lines are pressed a bit tight against the power steering pressure line. I could have bent the fuel rail line, but opted to get a Renix-era steering line and mildly tweak it at the steering pump. Fuel lines clear with no issue/ pressure against anything now. Vacuum lines were redo using a mix of High Output lines and Renix-era lines which again provided me the best option to route and extend things nice and neat. Top left corner of the engine compartment I found at the local pick n pull a ‘91 XJ with ABS pump mounting plate that I stripped down and am re-purposing to mount my Warn winch solenoid on the hidden winch I'll be installing. Still need to install the clutch, tranny/ transfer case…lift, etc.
  2. My OEM fog lights which mount in that location are mounted securely to the bumper on my 01XJ.
  3. Congrats Don-- I quit about 2 years ago. Was 2+ packs a day. Quit cold-turkey as well.
  4. I was hoping to get a lot more done over the past few days, but... was able to get a few accessories, pulleys, and hoses attached. Also, bolted on the NOS ZJ steering box. Cleaned up the D30 and installed new dust plates, hubs, JKS UCA, LCA, and track bar (not in the photo). Old Man Emu 934 coil springs, .75" poly coil spring isolator, and Bilstein front shocks in place. Removed the original tie rods and steering linkage and replaced them with ZJ units...
  5. Got the Stroker in on Saturday with the help of Mike (fiatslug). Went in easy for the most part, just getting that passenger side motor mount to drop into the frame bracket took a couple attempts. Bolted on the Borla header and hung MetricTon leafs on the back. Cleaned up and painted soon to be installed parts.
  6. Getting there…Over 100 degrees here in CA to add to the fun. Pulled the engine, cleaned the firewall, cut the necessary holes for the 97+ XJ washer container. Tomorrow I prep the Hesco stroker, installing the Borla header and intake before I drop it in next weekend.
  7. Sent you a PM. I was the guy who bought some black interior parts from Krustyballer. Interested in door panels and center console, thanks!
  8. The factory winch isn't the best design in my opinion. It's good if you are looking for something era correct for restoration purposes, but the front bumper sticking out an extra 3+" and all the covers and extensions look strange. I had a guy local to me in CA design and build something simple that mounts the winch (Warn 8000) behind the front bumper/ crossmember with minimal modification. I'll be running dual electric fans. I wanted something clean where I could retain the factory look. Fairlead is the only clue that there's something behind the bumper. Here are photos of the protoype. He pulled on it for over a year with no issues.
  9. Getting there with the teardown… Got the majority of the bolt-on’s of the original engine off, both drive shafts, cat-back, and wiring tucked aside. I know I’m able to pull the engine through transfer case as one unit, but there’s less risk of damage to things if I do it in pieces…especially the AC condenser which I am going to leave for the most part in place. Here’s some photos from Saturday’s work. Thought I’d get further in 15 hours…
  10. Official build thread begins on my ’92 MJ project – named ‘Son of Stink’ – before I complete my ’89 MJ project overhaul. Here’s a link to my MJOTM write up from 2012. The ’92 has been my daily driver for the past 5 years and has ran flawlessly. Currently I have about 230+K on the clock and converted it to 4wd several years back when I bought it...with an AX-15, external slave, NP231, Dana 44. Over the next couple months, I’ll be sharing my re-build-up with the forum… Phase 1 is installing a Hesco stroker with Edelbrock head, 97+ intake, Borla header, bored TB, Brown Dog motor mount brackets with factory rubber mounts, Hesco relocated CPS kit, K&N intake with S&B cone filter. I’ll be deleting the clutch and run dual 97+ XJ electric fans (LHD and RHD) on a new Mopar HD radiator. Mated to the stroker will be a NOS set AX-15 (still external slave) & NP231. While I have the engine out I’ll install a ZJ gear box and 97+ XJ washer tank, and stainless steel exhaust running a MagnaFlow cat and muffler. Next up will be bolting up a hidden winch plate and Warn 8000 winch. All this will be behind the factory bumper and air damn. Only clue there’s a winch behind the bumper will be the fairlead. I’ll be running winch controls in-cab connected to factory switch pods with custom logo overlays relating to winch controls. Phase 2 is Old Man Emu 934 springs, JKS upper and lower control arms and track bar, Metric Ton leafs, ADDCCO sway bars front and rear (a la Hornbrod’s install). New Mopar hubs, PowerStop cross-drilled discs all around, and TJ Canyon’s on 31” tires. Phase 3 will be paint and body with new bright work and trim, 97+ XJ windows, etc. I’ll post photo’s and progress as I go. Teardown starts this weekend.
  11. Yes, let me know what I owe you and I’ll PayPal
  12. I’ll take a set of complete seat and rollbar brackets. Zip 95120. Thanks
  13. I'm out in Vegas this weekend and stopped by the Pic A Part at 5100 North Lamb Blvd and there is an 87 MJ with a very straight rear bumper. Only one light small bend above license plate cavity. I can't pull it, just letting you all know its available.
  14. Gjeep

    An actual crew cab

The rear door portions of that crew cab closest to the original B-pillar vents are from a 2-door XJ. The 2-door XJ's angle back like that.
  15. The truck is beautiful , missing the Laredo pinstripping, which would be along the body and on the tailgate. Also, the end caps prior to 1991 weren't a gloss paint and lighter in color along the body cladding if he wanted to keep it authentic. Looks great though.
  16. Yep, his is a Renix... I can tell by the potentiometer.
  17. Gone. Guy grabbed them while I was there.
  18. '89 MJ SB 2wd aw4 just landed. Draw-Tite hitch and Raider mfg camper shell in good shape. Back glass is no longer there, but frame in tact.
  19. Thanks guys. As it turns out I had a spare tailgate in the shed with a handle on it. I'm all set. Appreciate the offers.
  20. I have a used chrome tailgate handle and I'd like to see if someone wants to trade a black handle for my chrome one. It's in good shape. I'm located in California. Thanks.
  21. I have a 'buyer' I connected with in china. There is typically a $150-$200 starter/ time spent doing fee each transaction on top of the price of the parts. 3 years ago those Beijing regulators were $90 USD.
  22. The older glass has a single mounting point and the later glass has two mounting holes. I'm running Japanese made Beijing XJ regulators and an approx 2.5"x6" adapter plate I made. I mocked up 97+ XJ regulators and they work, but lots of new holes need to be drilled in the inner door as well as some spacers that are needed for the mounting bolts. Kind of a mess. The Beijing regulators bolt directly to the 84-96 XJ doors. Know that I bought 2 scrap doors to play with this modification long before deciding and drilling on my 89 MJ's doors. I had one scrap door with the Beijing set up and one with the 97+ XJ regulator. Both with the US 97+ XJ glass. And again, decided to go with the Beijing XJ regulators. I also took the extra step that could probably be skipped of cutting the inner door glass channel that the front end of the 97+ glass runs against. It's basically a support piece. Finally, for the outter weatherstrip, you have the choice of the one piece 97+ XJ style or again, the Beijing XJ uses the older metal lower frame with a longer rubber insert that I went with. I'm aiming to do this mod on my '92 MJ shortly and will do a write up.
  23. Nope. You'll need a long speedo gear. Think it's 93 and up that uses the short gear.
  24. It's been a while since I've updated project Stinky...Finally getting back to work on it. Stripped the "frame" / uni-body down and used bedliner to coat it. I then clear coated the bedliner material for UV protection and easier cleaning. Painted the underside of the truck bed satin black on all panels, even the between the double wall. In place is the 4.11 Dana 44 on Metric Ton leafs. A TeraFlex disc brake kit and cross-drilled rotors will hang on the axle shafts. As for a rear sway bar, I went with Addco's 1" WJ bar set up. The engine compartment was scrubbed and painted as well. The sunlight makes the color look a bit orange, but I repainted Stinky factory Colorado Red. Currently under construction is a hidden winch that keeps the factory bumper in its original location with the fairlead tucked behind the license plate. The winch will be cab controlled using the factory switch pod to the right of the steering column and oem switches. One for power, one for winch in and out. The truck will never see dirt, but I just wanted a hidden winch. (Building a second one for my gray '92 MJ as well). I'll be using a Warn 8K winch. The big news is I took delivery of a Hesco stroker, complete with Edelbrock aluminum head. Once I get it dropped in, there will be an assortment of goodies to go with it. Some items include: '00 XJ intake manifold, bored TB, relocated CPS (Hesco kit), cold air intake, Borla header, etc. I'm a slow mover and stickler for detail, so the updates will have serious spans of time between them.
