Finally! lol I've been waiting patiently for what awaits.
-
As long as it was worth it to you, in the long run, that's all that matters. How old are you now? I'm 25 now. In hind sight, I should have been a little more savvy with my money back then. I certainly wouldn't go and spend that much on a horn now lol.

Rotational Grind/bump
onlyinajeep726 replied to The_Kack's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you have a lift? If so, is the front axle absolutely centered? I didn't have a problem like that until after I lifted my XJ and the front axle was pushed over to the passenger side. If so, centering the axle again should help. If that's not your problem, then perhaps a local exhaust shop can bend you a new downpipe that routes a tad differently to fix that? -
Yes, I did in fact spend that much on a horn and air compressor kit. Was it the smartest use of money on the Jeep? No. Was it worth it in the long run? IMO, yes. I was 17 and my paychecks didn't have to be spent on anything essential, so I just bought stupid crap. If eBay would let me go back that far in my purchase history, I'd be glad to show y'all. I have can post pictures of my setup and of the box it originally came in.

Ax15 Specific T-Case Linkage And Trans. Tunnel Cover Plate
onlyinajeep726 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in Wanted
They should be interchangable from all year XJs and all year MJs as the shifter opening in the trans tunnel is in the same location. At least that's what I've been informed. The difference lies with the different combination of engine/tranny combos. -
Well, being that it's an air horn, yes, you will need the compressor or some form of air compression device lol. If you have A/C that doesn't work, you can convert the A/C compressor to a on-board air system to run the horn that way. But yes, the trumpets will be pointless without compressed air. It needs at least 100+ psi to sound right and be loud. I have a 3 liter tank and if I lay on the horn, it will only last 10 seconds max and the sound fads quickly once it's below ~100 psi. If I ever get around to it, I'm planning on getting a 5 gallon tank and Tee-ing off the line so I can use it to inflate my tires when on the trail.

Ax15 Specific T-Case Linkage And Trans. Tunnel Cover Plate

Ok, thanks! I'll be leaving for work in a few and will be there to 11:00 PM, so it may be late. -
I have a Kleinn Quad-trumpet one on my XJ and love it. I got mine off of eBay. Wasn't cheap though, $350+ for a decent kit and that's at the lower end. Came in handy when I used to live in Charlotte. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=train+horn+kit&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR4.TRC1.A0.Xkleinn+train+horn+kit.TRS0&_nkw=kleinn+train+horn+kit&_sacat=0

But $169 bones.... I think I can make a rod with heims on either end and accomplish the same thing... Thanks for sharing though. -

As the title implies, I'm looking for the linkage that connects the T-case level to the z-gate hand shifter. Also looking for the transmission tunnel cover plate. Thanks.

Pilot Bushing Issue
onlyinajeep726 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The most difficult part is lining it up (which like I said, I got lucky). Should be smooth sailing after that, though. Try it again in the morning.- 28 replies

Pilot Bushing Issue
onlyinajeep726 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Honestly, I guess I just got lucky... I used a dowel like I said previously and whacked it one good time, realized that it went in partially (and straight) and then just knocked it in the rest of the way. Is the hole in the crank pretty smooth/clean?- 28 replies

Removing Tcm Harness
onlyinajeep726 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So do I wire pins A and E to my back up light switch to get the reverse lights to come on? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but I want to make sure so I don't fry my ECU. -
I will be keeping a close eye on this build... Post lots and LOTS of pictures.

Removing Tcm Harness
onlyinajeep726 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks, but I'm not in need of the harness. I have everything already ran and installed for my particular application with exception of the aforementioned backup light switch. But perhaps someone else may need this. -

You bought a crate 2.8? :ack: I hope you didn't pay much for it. Could've gotten a 3.4 and been better off. I mean, if you're going to go through all that work anyway, might as well upgrade right? lol I'm sure someone with experience on the 2.8 will chime in... I heard they're pretty scary with the 20 something miles of vac hose... -

The AX15 has a NSS? :hmm: You're not referring to the clutch safety switch, are you? (Which my '86 doesn't have one of those either). -
Homemade 2.5 Header
onlyinajeep726 replied to coyote kid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Soak them in PB blaster a few days in advance and don't run the engine during that time as it will burn off the PB. Then you just have to carefully remove it with a hand wrench. Mine were fairly tight, I used a wrench and a rubber mallet and loosened all of them and then got it off the rest of the way by hand. When I did my engine swap in my XJ, I used silicon-bronze hex bolts from Fastenal to replace them all. The silicon-bronze bolts with actually get stronger over time due to the heating and cooling it experiences from the engine. And, the best part, they won't seize into the head because they're made of different metals.
