:hijack: I was beginning to believe that I was the oldest one on here (excluding Mr. Hornbird). I guess the obsession doesn’t discriminate on age. -

Got some catching up to do… Bought this MJ brand new in 1990. Before I took it home, I had them: put on some new American Racing Outlaw rims, install wing windows, re-wrapped the cloth bench seat in leather, tented the windows, attached a Lund visor, and for added protection nurf bumpers on the front and back. For the next 10 years it was my DD and saw a LOT of trail time. Shortly after buying it, the stock shocks died, so I replaced them with some Deutsch Tech Shocks. Do they even make those shocks anymore…? For the past 10 years, it has been sitting in my garage and periodically received some new upgrades: New 30” BFG MT’s Replaced the rear nurf bumper with a one-off bumper that securely holds a Warn 9,000 lb. winch, and three additional back-up lights. Added two PIAA lights to the front bumper. Mounted some recovery points to the front bumper. Pulled out the stock plastic liner and had Rhino Liner sprayed in…… Re-spooled the alternator, added two (2) Optima red tops (one mounted upside-down towards the rear of the bed), and an inverter Bolted on a new cowl induction hood. Installed a Safari Snorkel Had to get a new front diff cover Got a new slider rear window Replaced the aging corner lights/lenses with cool clear ones. Rear light corner covers Added a tool box, mounted it on the side & bottom for security. The entire thing is stuffed with recovery gear. Added some black paint to the front fascia Got er licensed for WA State, and new Tabs (also made a donation to National Parks). Took er out wheeling for the first time in 10 years and flooded the interior. High water mark for the day. -
In dash DVD players? (anyone ever try one?)

They look delicate; I’ve wondered if they would last long in a rig that sees allot of off-road time? -
It sure has been entertaining at times

If you like the wheel just get another wrap. It's kinda like saying, my tires are getting worn out, should i get rid of my rims... :rotf: -
Looked like fun

What seats and cage are you using? Harness get old quick when used daily on the street. Also you need to really be careful with the shoulder harnesses, if installed wrong they can easily break or at the very least compress your spine in a accident. Be careful!! CW I’m going to use my same seat (a soggy, wet bench seat). I know the fifth harness strap that goes between the legs isn’t real effective going around the seat edge. Maybe someday I’ll change that. I always heard that the shoulder straps should be mounted no higher than 2” above your shoulders and no less than 1” below…? I’m not using a cage, but instead am going to have someone fabricate a mounting bar that will extend from pillar to pillar and will be mounted where the existing shoulder belts are currently. This rig isn’t my DD, but back in the mid-late 80’s I had almost the exact same set-up in my Chevy DD. What wears out when it gets “old”? Thanks for the input. -

No I haven’t yet. Been procrastinating and hoping that constant, severe heat and wind would dry everything up. I can now tell you from much experience that Pete, Eagle and the others were right. The only way to dry it out after submerging it in water, it to rip it all out. -
